Apparently Rodimus must like the view of Drift's rear bumper veering wildly as his cortex does a reasonable approximation of what happens when brakes lock up, hard.
You think Drift's usual driving is dangerous? You thought wrong. Perceptor, you are in for a very wild ride.
"Frag!"
That's about all the warning Perceptor gets as Drift sees the sudden chicane almost too late, veering hard to follow the road. For a moment, his tires slip off the surface, spraying gravel and dust as he fought for traction to regain the pavement.
In short, he could use the same warning, Perceptor.
When he finally regains control, he mutters, unhappily, his systems hot from embarrassment, "Should have figured. Dirty trick."
He sounds almost disappointed.
((ooc: Rodimus may very well be able to take advantage and pull ahead of Drift))

Since Rodimus had been prepared for the slip, he certainly is ready to retake the lead. He speeds up, pulling ahead through the turn. He's not near enough to hear muttering going on inside Drift, but he does manages to catch Drift's own words.
"'Trash talk' is supposed to shake up the other side and give 'em an edge, and you were doing that!" Badly. "What's the difference?" Not that Rodimus is above dirty tricks, anyway. The Prime's tone, even as he defends himself, is still chipper, warm, and friendly. He seems to have little idea just how much feather rustling he just accomplished.

Anything that Perceptor might have been about to say is suddenly lost in the burble of distressed noises he makes as he finds himself bounced and flung about Drift's cabin like a lead feather in a gale. Fortunately, he's only shaken, and perhaps a little rattled, but not broken, or even so much as cracked. Not even his lenses.
Oddly enough, when he finally comes to a rest wedged into the floorboards near Drift's pedals, he starts giggling. Even with Rodimus Prime's rather disconcertingly... flirtatious remark, Perceptor is having fun! It's all the physical thrill of combat, without the unpleasantness of combat!
And seeing Drift rattled by simple flirtation is cute, in its own way. He's taking mental notes here.
"Come now, Drift," he remarks in a patently assumed haughty tone, once again broadcasting his words for Roddy's behalf, "his aft alone outweighs your entire chassis. Surely you don't intend to allow a figure of such girth to outrace you, do you?"

"...cheating." He's' not quite sure how flirting is cheating, exactly, but it is.
And look. You knocked Perceptor crazy, Rodimus. Not cool. Because Drift's bad driving is entirely your fault. You cheating cheater.
"Trash talk you," he grumbled, roaring his engines. It is time to ride right up on Rodimus's bumper. Because flirting is totally cheating, but tailgating? A-OK.

"Cheating's when you break the rules! We never agreed to any!" Rodimus points out, laughing. It's not a mocking laugh, but a good-humored, boyish one. "And hey, this girth is my secret weapon! See, if I win, everyone will go," and he switches to a high-pitch, mocking voice, "'What? You lost to him? But look at the size of him?!'" he switches back to normal voice, "but if I lose, they'll all go," voice switch, "'Well, of course you beat him! He's huge!' so I still win!"
He laughs again, the same good-humor, and then decides to check Drift's reflexes by checking his own breaks. In truth, that he's willing to do this actually shows some trust for Drift's reflexes... though it may make Perceptor's ride bumpy once more.

Perceptor is too amused by the banter and by the excitement of the race to be overly concerned about a mere bumpy ride!
"Taking advantage of other's perceptions?" Perceptor clicks a disapproving sound. "I expected so much better from you, Prime. Obviously Springer and Blurr are providing a deleterious influence upon your behavior."
His own confidence in Drift's abilities refuses to be shaken, however, he won't be above an undignified squawk if he ends up getting battered about on Drift's floorboards again.

Rodimus seems entirely ignorant of the fact that Drift has like...no sense of humor. At all. "Some things are more important than winning." Well, unless it's Drift that's winning. "Supposed to be setting an example for the other Autobots." SHAME ON YOU.
Abruptly that large bumper becomes HUGE as the leader taps his brakes. Were he alone, Drift would probably try something really stupid like accelerating to jump the other mech, but he does have a Nerd on Board, so he shows--for him--restraint. He waits until the bumper is less than a handspan from his, slams on his own brakes, twisting his steering hard to the left, and then punching his accelerator.
"Hang on," he says, a bit belatedly.

"Oh, come on," Rodimus snorts, attempting to accelerate - his stop cost him momentum, however, and Drift can most likely take advantage of that to get past him. "The only way to beat Blurr is by cheating, anyway! Like holding the race before actually telling Blurr he's in it... and sometimes even that doesn't work." He laughs again as he attempts to stay even with Drift, and answers the race car, "And I am setting an example! The example just happens to be, 'sometimes you should lighten up!'"
For all his joking and teasing, he seems to once more be losing the lead, though he doesn't sound particularly concerned with this.
