Mordred ought to be very familiar to Pierce. The black knight howls out rage and takes a flying leap at Seraph, sword arm extended, flaming blade keen to pierce armour and spill life's blood.
Then the dye pack in the stolen money explodes, sending bills fluttering all through the air and covering Mordred in red dye. Yes, a brave young drive-through teller gave Mordred a bundle of bills with a dye pack.
Now covered in indelible red dye, this is Mordred: Optimus Prime Edition or something.
The dye gets all over the sidewalk, the rubble, the taco truck, and a nearby tree, too. Bills waft through the air. Sirens cry in the distance.

The dye gets all over Seraph.
The red-spattered woman jerks to the side of Mordred's thrust; the black knight comes close enough to backhand her in passing. The black knight might backhand her in passing.
Glowing hands pulse, blasting energy at Mordred.

Xavier tugs Pierce along as he heads for the back of the café, away from the super-fight. It's not hard; he's strong and Pierce is light and currently passive. He thinks the man is just shocked by the event, what else could be wrong?
The café staff are ushering people out the back in a mostly-orderly fashion. It generally doesn't do well for business if you force your customers out into the middle of a fight between supers, if your business manages to survive the incident.

Rampage. Xavier was Rampage.
Pierce struggles to understand this revelation, tries to deny it even, but it was impossible with Xavier’s hand around his wrist. Xavier was Rampage and there’s nothing he can do. Why hadn’t he listened to his hunch? Why had he let his guard down like this?
Why wasn’t his mind melting like it had the first time they’d touched?
Phobia snaps himself out of it. It was too many questions and self pitying at a time where he can’t afford to either just yet. He lets Xavier lead them around for the moment, but the Decepticon will have a lot to do after this. That black knight, Rampage- he wasn’t the only one who’d been turned human now.
“Xavier,” He says softly as they slip out the back entrance. “Where are we going?”

One of the panicked people in the street tries to grab some of the bills flying around, shouting, "I'm rich!"
Another person, who is more sensibly running away, shouts back, "You're stupid!"
Mordred has other concerns, like trying to crack the pommel of that blade under Seraph's chin to snap her neck. The energy blast is also a concern, because whether or not that sharp blow connects, Mordred is sent flying through the air and lands on the awning of a business across the road.
The awning tears, dumping Mordred onto a rack of sale clothing on the sidewalk. A pretty red lace-back shirt catches on Mordred's helm.

Seraph snaps an arm up as Mordred swings. The pommel strikes her bracer with an audible crack. She yelps, and her blast pulses a little harder than she intended.
She doesn't compensate for the additional power, and so goes skidding back through the air. She twists and pushes off from a store's window, flinging herself back towards Mordred. "Eat lasers!"
This fight might go better if she'd actually use the sword on her back. Except she doesn't know how and waving around sharp objects seems dumber than tossing energy blasts around. This is the problem with being a Transformer.

Xavier turns his head to look at Pierce as he tries to tug the man through the alley behind the café and onto a neighbouring street, his expression slightly incredulous. Maybe Pierce is more out of it than he thought.
"Away from the metahuman brawl!" Obviously.
He has no idea about the turmoil going on in Pierce's head, his own empathic senses struck almost dead when he was bound in flesh. Senses that he doesn't quite remember having, except in an inexplicable irritation at being incapable of knowing what's going on behind other people's eyes. There's no infinite feedback loop of seeing into one another's minds, because all Xavier can feel is the ebbing panic of the people around him, which buzzes so pleasantly at the edges of his mind.

Pierce wants to know because he wants to get away from Xavier as soon as he can and... and maybe be in denial for a bit. He needs to get to his house and just curl up in his bed and pretend that everything is okay which all really ridiculous because he certainly didn’t have the luxury of doing that.
“Do you have a ride, I mean?” he amends, glancing back in the direction he’d come from. If only he could help the black clad meta-human somehow. But there was nothing he can do, not unarmed and useless as he is. He’ll wait for the news later and hope for a name. And then it’s a long night of digging for information. The library was probably closed tomorrow anyways, considering the proximity of the incident. If it wasn’t Pierce will call in sick.

There will be a name on the news tonight, to be certain: Mordred. It's not a particularly useful name. Pierce may find a small, recent spree of crimes linked to the name but nothing going back to before the change. A few toy companies are fighting over who gets to make the action figures.
"Your lasers couldn't spice a cookie!" shouts the black knight, and the article of clothing caught on the helm is flicked away.
Mordred manages to leap away from the worst of the shot. However, the armour is starting to show the damage in addition to the red dye, and the rack of sale clothing is now on fire.
In a brief moment of clarity, Mordred looks at how Seraph has smacked up against a store front. Under the mask, there is a smile. Then Mordred kneels, and a glowing red circle appears on the ground around the knight.
(Pierce and Xavier have totally wandered into an anime.)

"What? What does that even mean?" Seriously, Seraph does not want to know what kinds of cookies Mordred eats if he spices them with lasers.
The glow around Seraph's hands jumps in brightness and crawls up her arms. She darts towards the black knight, figures the red circle for some kind of shield- The glow is almost blinding now as she tries to get close enough to prevent Mordred from dodging.

"I... take the bus." Because he's still teaching himself how to drive well.
Xavier slows to a halt, shifting towards the inside of the sidewalk to make room for the people that have decided they want to put even more distance between themselves and the super-fight. His breathing is a little heavy, but it wasn't that long a run. He realizes that he's still holding Pierce's wrist, and stares at his hand for a moment, not entirely sure that he wants to let go yet...
"I..." He looks up at Pierce, then finishes lamely, "I'm sorry. I left your lunch behind."
He releases his hold. His fingers feel kind of tingly.

Xavier letting go of his hand was like a shock to the system. Pierce straightens up automatically, clutching his hand to himself and glancing quickly around before giving the other man a rather blank stare.
“... I have my scooter,” he offers after a moment of gathering himself up. “I can drive you home.” That simplified things a bit; now he can drop off Xavier safely without having to worry about the man potentially figuring out where he lived. Although it was rather peculiar. Xavier did have a driving license after all, Pierce had seen it while making the man’s library card. Perhaps he simply preferred not to drive? The glimpse he’d felt while Xavier had still been touching him seemed to suggest something that.
At the mention of his lunch, it’s Pierce’s turn to look incredulous. “... Xavier, it’s fine. Let’s-” more laser fire interrupts his words and he glances back nervously before trying to gingerly grab Xavier by the shoulders- after only a second of hesitation- to turn and usher him in the direction of his scooter. “Let’s just get out of here.”

"It means that you should have been looking behind you," Mordred says, the words absent of the barest trace of humanity.
The building behind Seraph collapses as if a demolitionist planned it. That is what Mordred's red circle does. The red glow gutters out, leaving a scorched circle on the sidewalk, and Mordred vaults into the air. The black knight can't fly, but Mordred can leap 'hella high'. Mordred lands on a not-destroyed rooftop and starts looking to make another jump.
Hopefully these theatrics have given Nightshade the time that she needs to accomplish something real.

Skipping Seraph due to time out.
"Uh, right," Xavier says eloquently, flushing a little. He's feeling a bit light-headed and giddy right now - probably the high from all the fear - and it's making it hard to be his usual charming self.
"How could I turn down a ride on such a stylish vehicle?" he manages with a teasing smirk, celebrating internally at the fact that Pierce is willingly touching his shoulders. Just this morning he was refusing handshakes!
Then there's a roar of a building coming down not nearly far enough away for comfort and Xavier cringes slightly, more with a sudden urge to wrap himself protectively around Pierce and murder anyone who threatens him than with any particular worry for his own well-being. Even so, it has him picking up the pace as Pierce guides him away from the scene of the crime.

The fabric between his fingers and Xavier were a blessed shield. He can still feel ghostly twinges of the other man’s emotions but nothing near as disruptive as a full touch.
He would give Xavier a look at the sarcastic comment about his scooter- it’s a perfectly fine scooter! Just because it’s a big dinged and old...! Of course the building collapsing behind them stops any chance of retort. Pierce flinches and ducks instinctively at the dull roar of concrete and steel falling apart behind them and hurries up a bit. At least the library parking lot wasn’t too far away at all.
He snatches the keys out of his pocket once they reach the lot, and gestures for Xavier to sit down and... oh my this was going to be awkward.
