Kate swallows the coffee that's in her mouth. She blinks. Then blinks again. "A what?" she asks, confused. "Isn't that something related to Vikings?"

"I'm related to Vikings," Tessan says seriously, her eyes wide, "That's what all the guys at work say." Clearly, they are a reliable source. "A Berserker is... wrong." She shivers. "Stories say, they're missing their emotional dampers, and every four million years, they go mad and slaughter everyone around them, even their own units. Berserkers aren't allowed to be Autobots."
She looks down at her feet. "Sometimes, I'm afraid that I might be one."

Kate raises an eyebrow. "Have you gone mad and slaughtered everyone around you in the last four million years?" she asks. She tends to imagined Tessan would have noticed this. It's kind of hard to miss mass slaughter.
Then again, Tessan is pretty oblivious.
"Erm. You'd have noticed if you have, right?"

"I think I left out in my security interview the part where Optimus Prime almost had me permanently deactivated," Tessan admits miserably, sinking into her chair. She finishes the last bitter dregs of her espresso Mountain Dew and shreds the bottle with a drill.
Saying as much to Kate is stupid, but there, that's why she was so worried about being around a cop.

Kate frowns and finishes off her cup of coffee. Then she frowns again, peering into the mug.
"Yeah? And why wouldja do that?"

"I can get you more coffee," Tessan offers brightly, and she stands up to do just that. Then she adds, pretty obliviously, "Because I'm used to my bosses knowing. Impactor knew. My Springer knew. I just... don't think about telling 'bots right off the bat anymore."

"Impactor knew," Kate repeats, eyes narrow and eyebrows drawn together. "Just those two?" She pauses. Wait a minute, aren't...
"What about Rodimus and Xaaron?"

"Probably," Tessan says, shrugging. She comes back with a new cup of coffee and offers it to Kate.

"Well, if he didn't already, he will soon as I find him," she grumbles, accepting the cup of coffee and watching Tessan with narrowed eyes. Then, louder, she admits, "But anyway, that's for him and Xaaron to sort out. As I understand, they repealed the rule against Berserkers, anyway. Which struck me as odd, 'cos I wasn't aware that we had any."

"I've never been tested for it, because... you know," Tessan says, shrugging. Even when Rodimus lifted the ban, Twin Twist didn't want to run out and get tested. "Actually, Impactor would have probably killed me if I came out positive, anyway." She's pretty matter of fact about that, not hugely upset.

"But you said Impactor's onna the ones who knew about this 'permanently deactivated' stuff to begin with!" Kate protests. This just does not get any clearer. Kate blames Tessan.
She shakes her head sharply. "Why're we talkin' about this, anyw- oh! You brought it up!"

Tessan brought this up because she is stupid, caffeinated, nervous, and running on too little sleep. She blurts, "I don't know! Maybe I'm just an old-fashioned walking disaster zone. That's... okay in some Autobots' books."
She looks away, crossing her arms.
So yes, Twin Twist can be a menace and Impactor is fine with that, but Impactor is not okay with Twin Twist being a Berserker.

"Look, my point is..." Kate hesitates, frowning, and starts up again, "my point is..." she hesitates again, then throws up one hand (the other is holding her coffee), "actually, I don't have a point because this whole damn conversation is stupid."
"When I get in contact with the others, I'll make sure Rodimus and Xaaron know about your whatever with Optimus, and then let them sort out this whole Beserker business themselves. Now, are there any other revelations or reasons to boot you out of the 'Bots you want to unload on me while I'm here?"

Tessan does not seem bothered by Kate claiming this is a stupid, pointless conversation. She's heard all that before.
"Oh. Optimus wanted me deactivated because of my record for getting Autobots killed. It's not on purpose. Never on purpose," Tessan looks bothered explaining this part, "It's just... I don't think about what I'm doing."
Understatement.

Kate stares at Tessan quietly for a moment. Finally, she mutters, "I take that as a 'yes,'" then lefts her mug to her lips and drinks it down, guzzling it like it were a mug of beer. When she's done, she looks into the empty mug with a frown.
"Dammit, I need a real drink."
