"Good." It won't have any pre-programmed commands, but Swerve doesn't code; he just constructs. He puts a few components back into their proper places, leaves others shifted so he can still access the new assembly with some ease if adjustments are needed. "You feel up to testing it and I'll grab a cube for you."

Skyblast knows how to make his own energon weapons! Stuffing them into a star might be trickier, but he is confident that he will figure out this 'hiding weapons in candy' business.
Maybe he can feed Mirage the reject candy. Mirage likes razorblades in his truffles, right? Living dangerously?
Skyblast grins. "Sounds perfect."

Swerve makes a dubious noise as he walks away to fetch that promised cube. Perfection, he has decided after remaking himself from the frame up over a dozen times, is a fantasy. He sets the cube down on the tray beside Skyblast's berth and sits down again to observe.

Skyblast summons a air of blades, his cannon, and combines the three items to form a spear. All of that seems to work properly. Then he tries to stuff the spear into a candy star. This does not work so well. Skyblast ends up dropping the spear on the floor and tries to focus on just making a star without making the pieces that go inside the star first. His expression of concentration is intense.

That look of concentration is one Swerve recognises well enough. He stays quiet and simply watches while Skyblast tests things, his attention less on the display and more on keeping watch for any anomalous flashes or flares that he knows shouldn't happen. He does quietly reach with one foot to slide the spear away. It can only make any potential explosion worse.

A star materialises. Skyblast is surprised enough that he just drops it without trying to stuff a spear inside it. Swerve is going to have a mess of strangely shaped pieces of energon all over his floor now.
Skyblast bends down, picks up the star, and tries to hand it off to Swerve. He suggests, "See if you can pull anything out of this."

Swerve sits there for a few seconds, awkwardly holding the star in his hands and staring at Skyblast as if the jet just spoke Quintesson. Then he looks at the star, and back to Skyblast, bemusement giving way to the usual frown.
"I dunno how to use this!" he snaps, though he looks it over. Is it like calling a Key, where he just… thinks it? Does he have to stick it on somewhere for it to work? Eventually, he tries the thinking method, glancing up from the faintly humming warm thing in his hand to Skyblast. "Is it supposed to be a spear like the one you already made, or what?" Does that have an effect on the way the star functions?

"I don't knoooow," Skyblast replies, "It might not be a spear? I kind of had trouble trying to figure out how to stuff a spear in there. It might be an ability boost? See if it makes you go faster!"
Every Velocitronian wants to go faster, right? So if the star does do anything, Swerve should be able to find the 'go faster' setting, right?
Skyblast is the worst experimentalist ever.

Trying to get a speed boost out of it means going somewhere he can drive. There's a criminal lack of driving room in here. Swerve glares at Skyblast, hard, as he stands. Then he points at the jet with his free hand, coming rather close to jabbing Skyblast in the face.
"You," he says and punctuates with another jab, "don't go anywhere. I'll be right back." Assuming Skyblast complies, Swerve storms out with the star in hand. He comes back a few minutes later without the star and looking… slightly giddy, in fact; he almost has a smile on his face as he weaves between workbenches back to his seat. "Well," he declares breathlessly, trying to sound gruff about it and failing, "it works."

Skyblast takes a step back, blinking. While Swerve is away, Skyblast continues to attempt to make rare candy Energon Stars, with differing amounts of success. One is lop-sided. One is funny-coloured. One has half a spear sticking out of it. One exploded and got gooey energon shards all over the ceiling. One appears to be normal.
He is about to throw himself upon Swerve's non-existent mercy and promise that he'll mop the ceiling when he notices how Swerve appears to be... high. Skyblast looks off the left, whispers a quick prayer of 'thanks' to Lady Luck, and then grins at Swerve. He tries to press the normal-looking star into Swerve's hands and says, "Great! Now see if you can pull a spear out of this one."
Maybe Skyblast can become Swerve's crack Energon Star dealer, leading to a plot about the dangers of drug abuse!

Swerve is most definitely buzzing; the first star never did spit out a weapon, but he did get an unreal speed boost from it once he figured out how to make it work, and there was none of that strange, unsettling feeling he gets from his Cyber Keys. He could almost like this energon star business.
"A spear," he echoes, fumbling the finished piece slightly before his hands catch up with his processors. Well, the last one didn't blow up, and… it looks like Skyblast was hammering out a few kinks while Swerve was off testing. So maybe this one won't explode, either. Swerve eyes the mess on the ceiling speculatively before looking at Skyblast again. "S'it gonna blow up in my face?" he wonders. He might just be ribbing Skyblast. A decent drive does wonders for his temperament.

"I sincerely hope not!" Skyblast replies, making a bit of a face. He rubs his hands together nervously. "But yeah, a spear. Then you should be able to pull the spear apart to make two blades and a electro-discharge cannon?"
Skyblast picks up the star with half a spear sticking out of it and starts to gnaw on it. One of the new modifications has vastly expanded the kinds of fuel Skyblast can intake, so he supposes he should be able to recycle his old, failed pieces.

"Versatile hot-plugger, aren't you?" Swerve mutters, glancing sidelong at Skyblast while he rests one hand on the convex side of the star, holding it in his other hand. "Okay. A spear." The boost just worked; a spear isn't popping out of the thing just because he's holding it, and an awkward moment passes while he tries to settle the leftover hum in his circuits and focus. He stares hard-eyed at the star and tries to picture a spear coming from it. It feels a little warmer against his palms, but nothing more.
It's when he pulls his hand away that something changes. A shape bursts under his fingers and he clamps his hand around it automatically to avoid dropping it. The star clatters to the floor, but he has a spear.

"Mrf?" Skyblast asks, the botched Energon Star shoved halfway into his mouth. He thinks Swerve just said something vaguely dirty, but he can't be sure.
When Swerve manages to manifest a spear, though, Skyblast shoves down the remains of his snack and claps, "Oh, good! Ha hah, I'm so glad that didn't explode in your face."
Seriously, he's relieved.
"Now I just need to make one that can do either or, I guess? Oh, and we need to figure out how long this stuff lasts." Skyblast grabs the funny-coloured one and starts gnawing on it.

Awkwardly balancing the spear – he's actually not accustomed to long weapons with odd centres and weights – Swerve stoops and grabs the dropped star before Skyblast can try eating that, too.
"I'd have had to paste you one if it'd gone off," he says gruffly. There's half a smile trying to pull on one side of his mouth without getting very far. He's full of new parts all the time, but he's still thousands of years rusty at lightening up. "Now before you run off trying out more of this scrap," and he makes a show of hefting up the spear before setting it and the star that spawned it on a countertop, "lemme get that mess finished." After all, he hasn't yet completed setting the star generator or closed the jet's chest.
