Hi, my name is Wraptor (IRL Ryan) and I am completly new to this style of RPG
I have looked around, read the rules and FAQ and I would like to think I am pretty clued up. I do have a couple of quick questions however. Firstly, it looks like there have been no new players or characters in over four months, so I ask is there any reason or has things simply been a little slow? Secondly, I would like to apply for a Jet Vehicon complete with Igu Arms Micron, would this be allowed and if so would he be clasified as canon or original?
(there is a reason I like the Jet Vehicon, they look freaking cool and I really dig the idea of a very stock standard soldier for a first character on my first RPG)

Welcome!
Looking around and reading all the info threads is a very good thing to help you get started. It's been a bit slow on the new-player/character activity because of various reasons. First, this is an app-based rpg which means that applications have to be approved by Adminimus (who consists of no less than 3 administrators). You probably read that somewhere already. Also, we've had (or are still having) the vacation season so people are generally a bit slower in posting, and naturally, applications might take a bit longer. But if you want to play, don't look at the amount of new players we've had in the last months but just write your application and send it in.
Please keep an eye out for the different dimensions where characters can come from. Your Vehicon would be from the Transformers Prime universe with (if I read it correctly over at TF Wiki) something akin to a Nebulan partner (An Igu becomes a weapon as well, but isn't organic. Is it sentient? Would it count as apping a 2nd character? We have Nebulans in the game and they are sentient, so a player who plays them or admin can answer this.) But Prime universe definitely.
Just go ahead and write the application, and Adminimus will help you along. Please allow the stated amount of days for them to reply to you.
Good luck!
(Also, I think that if you've never played this kind of RPG before that choosing a basic character without too many complicated playing requirements will allow you to get a feel for it just fine)

Like Skid-Z says, we've been a bit slower in activity due to a lot of Real Life hitting a lot of players and admin all at once. As for new applicants, we tend to go through cycles of several apps, than none. Given that w/ TF:Prime back and FoC out, I imagine we will have our usual run of new apps which often occurs when we have new TF properties hitting.
I'm assuming you are meaning a TFP Jet Vehicon and not a BM Vehicon. Regardless, Vehicons (as I understand them) tend to be rank and file with little individual personality. I think it's awesome to take a character like that and flesh it out, but my opinion would be that it would fall under an original character. It's much like taking one of the randomly colored jets we see in G1 and creating a story and such for him.

Looking through the wiki (which is awesome) I see that characters with attached partners have additional information for the partner. Is this done as a seperate application or a modified application?

Heya. As one of those folks with an attached character, I'll go ahead and pipe up. In my case, Haywire's personality writeup went into the section of the app where you answer whether or not you have an attached character. (Does your character have any attached characters? If so, how do you intend to handle them?) I just tucked Haywire's personality there. I added Haywire's abilities in the Arms/Armour/Abilities section. I can't speak for how others did it, but it worked out okay for me!

Thanks for the quick reply.
I've been reading through some of the thread and I couldn't help but notice the existence of Transformer toys in the Earth of the deadzone universe. Did somebody go to a toy company and get a toy of themselves made?

IIRC, it was because Swindle ran around making licensing deals with various toy companies shortly after the Transformers landed on Earth, and before they got humanized.

Actually, it's a combination of things. Part of it was that when humans found out about Transformers, some of them went, "That's cool! I bet we could make money off of them!" There are, after all, plenty of products based off of famous people, and not all of them were done with permission. In addition, as stated, Swindle made some deals, and meanwhile, Xaaron, canny old buzzard that he is, managed to snap up the copyright/trademark to a few of them once he noticed what Swindle was up to.
There are some of the more dangerous Decepticons that Swindle would not risk pissing off by attempting to "own" their likeness, so if a toy of, say, Scourge (at a guess) is mentioned, that's likely just because the human toymakers decided to do that all of their own.
Anyway, in Deadzone reality, there were no Transformers toys prior to the arrival of the Transformers, but one way or another, they kind of exploded onto the market once the humans found out about them. I mean, let's face it: even if we hadn't come up with the idea of making transforming robot toys on our own, we sure as heck would start if we found out that there were real transforming alien robots running around!

As a side note, it's entirely possible that it's not all one toy company that managed to get all the trademarks/licenses, what with the speed of the scramble, so it's possible that if you want to act out, say, an Impactor vs Needlenose battle, you may have to buy toys made by two different companies.

Rodimus: I kiiiiiind of thinking the toys are a mish-mesh of Swindle's licensing deals, the toy companies just going, "That's neat, we should make a toy of it," (not every "Obama" product is approved by Obama, after all), and I thiiiiiiiiink Xaaron might have noticed at some point that someone was grabbing trademarks for Transformer names and grabbed a few himself? Him being the canny sort. But that's to be hashed out between Luna and Sam. Swindle: I am fine with that. Xaaron: Me too. Swindle: I know that Swindle knows better than to licence toys to be made of certain Decepticons anyway.
