Month 10, Week 3, Day 4, Ship, Private
Starscream has been spending a lot of time on Earth or flying around in orbit lately. The emptying, echoing halls on Ship just seem oppressive lately. Of course, they're always oppressive. Decepticon architecture tends to subtly reinforce the smallness of the individual. But without the usual military bustle of activity on the vessel, even the sound of the engines maintaining orbit is starting to wear on his processors.
Now, though, he's aboard Ship to issue orders to Mistwind. The acting Decepticon Commander stands on the bridge, looking out the viewport at the planet turning below, hands clutching a guardrail.

The entrance door opens and closes with their distinct ‘whoosh’ sound. The light footsteps upon the steel floor and the play of shadows across the walls announce Mistwind’s arrival before he's even close. When near, the little mech bows at a respectful distance. It doesn’t matter that Starscream isn’t facing him; Mistwind bows just the same and holds it until told to do otherwise.
“Supreme Commander Starscream Sir? Unit Mistwind reports in as ordered, Sir.”

Starscream turns around to look down at the little Decepticon, examining him critically. "Have you ever terminated another mechanism, Mistwind?" he asks.
The thought flits across his mind that if Mistwind never has, then he's basically acting the part of a predator throwing its young at weakened prey in order to teach it to hunt. It's not an entirely displeasing notion.

Mistwind’s optics widen and he peers up a bit in confusion without breaking his bow. “Uhm… Affirmative, Supreme Commander Starscream Sir. At least, 'a' mechanism, so that could be anything at all, Sir?”
Where does this question come from? Starscream doesn’t -look- angry so Mistwind probably didn't do anything wrong. But then again the commander might be really good at not looking angry.

"I mean another Cybertronian, Mistwind. I want you to deactivate Duskwing's human shell so he can be rebooted from a back-up. The Mayhems have already shown the procedure works using Misfire."
If it works again, they'll get a fully-functioning Seeker, and an important leg up on the Autobots at a time when both sides are low on troops. If it doesn't work . . . Starscream will break out the good energon and he Scourge and Shockwave will laugh and laugh and laugh.

“Oh…” Of course Starscream meant a Cybertronian. “No, I haven’t-” His voice trails off and the little mech stands frozen for a moment, dumbstruck as he compares ‘terminate’ to ‘deactivate’. “Wait, really? I am to destroy Duskwing’s prison!? Me?” Mistwind gasps in shock, “Commander, please-!” He trembles and stands firmer;
“Please tell me this is not a joke, Sir. Guido is a human, not a Cybertronian. This one can do this. NO! This one wants to do this! Supreme Commander Starscream Sir, when is the back-up procedure scheduled? ... When we've pulled Duskwing out, I can destroy that squishy bipedal insult?”
Oh hello, it's Christmas* morning!
*Or any Cybertronian holiday variant of it.

Starscream's face doesn't betray his surprise. Mistwind is surprisingly eager to sort-of-kill his best friend! It's a good thing the little mech can see the bigger picture, he supposes.
"You're to do it as soon as possible. We already have a back-up of Duskwing on file." Oh, how he has contemplated deleting that file.

The human is not Mistwind’s best friend. Duskwing is. And to Mistwind the two are not the same. Guido tested his restraint to not kill unlike anyone by holding the mech’s partner hostage, combined with being a physical and verbal reminder of what happened to Duskwing and the rest of Mistwind’s brethren. When that leverage falls away, a heavy price will be paid.
In response, the little mech frowns. “No disobedience planned or intended, Supreme Commander Starscream Sir… just a bit of confusion: if we already have a backup, why isn’t Duskwing already active?”
Ah yes, that important detail Mistwind is unaware of because different universe. And you don't really go around asking Decepticons 'hey, what if you were to get killed?'. That kinda raises suspicion, doesn't it?

"We don't have a bunch of empty Seeker shells just lying around, Mistwind. And we're shorthanded on Decepticons with the skills to construct them. This was not something we could have done at any time. Duskwing's core consciousness will transfer to his back-up automatically once the human shell is destroyed."

Mistwind frowns for a moment, interpreting. Then he gasps, "Oh! So this termination is necessary for the back-up to be functional, Sir; for when we can get a body constructed? That's one of those 'universe' things, isn't it?"
‘So the sooner I do this….’ Mistwind thinks and promptly salutes, “Mission is clear, Supreme Commander Starscream Sir! It will be carried out as soon as possible, Sir!” At the first sign of dismissal, the little mech will be out of here.
Going to leave current scene. Upcoming scene swap/time skip?

Starscream waves a hand negligently as he turns back to staring out the window. "Dismissed, Mistwind."
Timeskip away. Starscream is out of thread.

Later, downtown Detroit...
Guido Ala strode out of his downtown walk-up apartment, whistling jauntily. One, he's getting good pay from Lord Slaughter's jobs; two, he knows who he is now, and maybe he'll get some undercover assignments from Mistwind--like maybe scrag some human Autobots--and three, the consigliere just called up to let Guido know that the heat's off, and he can go back to work.
Tomorrow, he can go back to breaking kneecaps and capping troublemakers. Tonight, he's got money in his pocket and it's time to celebrate! So it's off to his favorite bar 'n' grill for one of those awesome ham and swiss melts that Antonio makes, and some serious drinking. Maybe some shoot some pool, too.

From high up the apartment building a set of azure optics watch the gangster leave. ‘Hey now, what's this?’ Mistwind wonders silently, optics squinted in thought. With a slight gnashing of his teeth, he ponders the possibility of the human having received a sudden late night job from one of its other masters. That possibility does exist, and the human looks… rather pleased. Very pleased, actually. Curious. The mech shifts away from the edge to follow Guido from the rooftops, remaining far on the side of caution in this stealth challenge. Mistwind had left base immediately after receiving his mission. -His- mission. Even now the child’s systems purr at the thought. He isn’t a hunter like Crankcase. Far from it, actually. But he is one thing; Motivated. Very, very motivated.
Where are they going?

They are going to "Antonio's Bar 'N' Grill", where the aforementioned Antonio and staff make the best deli sandwiches and spare ribs on this side of town. It also has HD displays showing all the popular sports games currently playing. Most of the patrons are currently clustered around one of the displays, this one showing the play-off game that Detroit's team is in.
Guido's wearing his leather jacket and jeans today; the bar is a casual place, no place for suits. He saunters in and glances around...
"Hey, Maria! Make me one of Tony's ham & cheese melts, willya? You know how I like it. And a beer; Dos Equis double X." He snags a stool at the bar, looking around for anyone he knows while they make his dinner.

When Guido enters the building, Mistwind scowls from his rooftop location. A human bar, where mobs of the squishy creatures meet to feed and socialize. How much he'd like to, Mistwind can't just burn it down right now. The mech seeks cover in the shadow of an air-conditioning unit and dims the intensity of his optics. He is no stranger to holding a watchdog position.
