Hi, as you may have noticed, I'm new here. I do have experience in the field of TBRPGs, but nonetheless, I have a question: would it be acceptable to have a character that originates from the universe of the Exodus novels? I was just wondering because the application only mentions comics and cartoons.

The novels are fine (although if I'm remembering correctly, there are aspects that might have to be handled carefully or nixed entirely). We tend to be most likely to reference comics and cartoons explicitly because there's a lot more of them, but we're not limited to those (for example, we also have a number of the live-action movie characters)

Alright, but which aspects would have to be changed?

Okay, understand that I'm going off of half memories (as I wasn't the admin who read them), but I seem to recall something about a contagious evil-fying Dark Energon? Or something like that?
Anyway, odds are, your character wouldn't be able to pull any of that stuff through with them.

An excellent rule of thumb to help you predict whether your application is going to cause trouble and revision-requests, is to reflect the following:
- Does my character have some unlimited/limited resource available that can tip the balance of the game in the blink of an eye?
- Is my character capable of influencing another character without them being able to do a lot about it?
- Is my character able, or in knowledge of, powers and techniques that alter the laws of this universe in some way?
This should help you out because if your app, if even remotely, causes a yes here then you need to pay attention. Remember, at times it can be allowed for certain characters to possess certain items and skills, but these are usually for very specific plot purposes. Look at Overlord. Normal characters hardly ever have powerbombs, and if they do it would be really hard for them to replace it, making them hesitant to use them.
Examples: - Oil slick had a vial of Cosmic Rust. He only caused infection with it once, and there was already the know-how on how to make an antidote. Story-wise it was epic for that moment, but even if the character would be played again, seeing Cosmic Rust return would be extremely rare. (Personal recollection)
- Ramulus (this guy) is from the IDW BW universe. The BW universe has transwarp technology. There are guys (Razorbeast for example) who know the tech and methods. Ramulus however doesn't, meaning he can't send everyone home and wreck the game space. While his universe has tech that would not be allowed here, he himself is allowed because he's just a mere survivalist/geologist.
- The entire Energon universe with their ability to summon special powers and weapons is allowed, but everyone who does it is overcome with a strong feeling of unease, meaning that it's rare for those characters to use their powers. So that balances out.
- On Pz-zazz, a lot of mechs got new weapons to encourage creative play. Over time, some players took their new additions into a process called 'upgrade application' to try and keep the weapons but most players simply had their characters lose their weapons.
A good thing to do is to account for the fact that you will be asked to revise aspects, or that you will have to streamline your application with the admins. This is unavoidable, so to make everything easier, look at the above tips and look at your app with a good dose of scrutiny. Besides that, have fun and remember that most of the progress of your character should develop in-game.

Alright, thanks. That's really helpful.
