There's a voice over the radio, dry and whispery. It's no one that Starscream would know, but clearly it belongs to someone who knows Starscream!
//Lord Starscream, I have contacted Shortround. The situation is in hand. I also have a prisoner.//

//I... see. Well, good work.// Starscream composed himself for a moment. //Now identify yourself, your Lord requests it.//

Oh, bingo. Maybe Starscream's self-absorbed enough that he might not know a beat officer like Battletrap - may he rest in piece - but he'd know Spinister. Bludgeon may get all the credit and glory, to which he is welcome, but Spinister was the leader of the Mayhem Attack Squad, which reported solely to High Command.
Starscream is eccentric, but not knowing who the contact man is for your own Gestapo would be criminally stupid.
Spinister is loathe to even reply.
//You were doing such a fine fake job up until then. Blaster, is it? Or a new player?//

Oh brother, here we go again, Starscream thought to himself.
//No. I am Starscream, although not necessarily the one you know. Or perhaps I have yet to meet you.
//Let me tell you what you have encountered recently. You found yourself on this strange planet, for no reason you can understand. You could have found people nearby who you don't recognize, or who don't recognize you. Perhaps you've even thought to compare time-stamps and noticed a vast difference. And now, you've discovered there are others. I assure you, we are in the same situation as yourself, and just as confused. But together, we will find out.//

Spinister considers Starscream's story. It's bizarre and smacks faintly of desperation. An imposter good enough to have Starscream's voice and personal radio frequency down would have to be damaged goods to come up with so bad a story.
So its implausibility is the one thing that makes it sound plausible to Spinister. Of course, Starscream himself could have made up such a stupid story knowing that such a stupid story coming from him would sound true, because his lies are so much more convincing.
So it's probably Starscream. He's up to no good. That's a given. It's Starscream. Finding out what no good he's up to will take time.
Still, Spinister wants to run at least a check. He transmits the hailing call of a high level Decepticon security code.
//Finish it.//

Oh, this is easy. Starscream completed the code, and then transmitted the full code twice to show that he didn't fluke it.
//And that was meant to be 'Finish it if you please, oh Lord', wasn't it?//
Just because he wasn't Starscream's subordinate yet doesn't mean Starscream was going to tolerate any of his crap.

Spinister ponders a sarcastic reply. After all, this Starscream has just said that he may not be Spinister's Starscream, and the code completion aside, Spinister rather doubts that he is. He is not Spinister's Lord.
He is, however, a Starscream and one with enough rank to know that code. One does not get to rank by being weak.
That in mind, Spinister plays nice and acquiesces, //Of course, my Lord. I am Spinister, leader of the Mayhem Attack Squad.// Starscream might not know what it is. //Sort of like military police. Sort of like hitmen.//

A hitmen squad that calls Starscream Lord. He could get used to this.
//Excellent. Spinister, I do not mind saying that off all my subordinates that I am unfamiliar with, you have easily impressed me the most. Transmit your position and prepare for incoming.//

That is an odd sort of backwards compliment. Flattery rolls easily off a silver tongue. Spinister never lets it go to his head. Even Megatron spoke well of Spinister. He's used to it, but if the compliments stopped tomorrow, Spinister wouldn't care. He is who he is, and he does what he does well.
Shortround gave away their position by bleating on the radio like an incontinent sheep and then by setting the swamp on fire. Spinister isn't doing any more damage by setting his radio beacon on, although he'll only leave it on long enough for Starscream to get a fix. If push comes to shove, he can throw Shortround at the enemy.

Spinister vanished in the swamp, last Starscream saw, but after many, many hours, his voice crackles over the radio.
//My apologies, Lord Starscream.// And he is prepared to face the consequences for his actions, not that Needlenose will appreciate it.
//My student, Needlenose, radioed me. He is an apt pupil, but he is experiencing a few difficulties.// Starscream can ask him what exactly those are, if he really cares.
Spinister doubts that he will, when he hears Spinister's next news. //He has also somehow acquired the ability to slag a city block in one shot. Shall I bring him to the swamp, my Lord, or would you prefer us to relocate another location?//
Finally, he adds, //Needlenose also discovered a dead Seeker, but I do not have the cargo capacity to haul to corpse back. We may wish to note its position for later use as spare parts, my Lord.//

//My my, Spinister, you ARE full of surprises. I nearly had a moment to consider what your punishment would be for going absent without leave, but I don't think I'll bother anymore.//
Starscream transmitted rough co-ordinates to the station everyone was heading towards.
//As for the Seeker, mark the co-ordinates. The body will be retrieved later.//

Spinister relays the dead Seeker's coordinates with the attached note that they're in a mine and not visible from the air.
He then queries, //What are our objectives at that location? What are our overall objectives here? Do we have any idea of the enemy's manpower?//
Spinister says, 'the enemy,' because he is more than certain that Autobots are not the only dangers here.

//Some, although the people I have heard of do not have Omega Supreme among their number so this is obviously not everyone. There is a group of five, however. I do not know about their co-ordination with Omega or where they stand.
Our objectives are currently to establish ourselves as the dominant force of this planet. And right now, that means fuel.//

//Five.// Something about the way Spinister says it, it sounds like the wind howling over five freshly carved tombstones.
//Any identification of said five?// Name, alternate mode, colour, whatever.

//Yes. One of them was the scientist, Perceptor. A couple of cars, one blue, one pink. One of our own is in there. He turns into a rather large terran vehicle, with a lot of black on it. Has a quirky vocal habit.//
