The application will be modified so that the 'role in game' question includes a request that current players focus more on what new aspects their character brings to the game. You can still mention qualities that overlap with other characters, such as more repair techs, another scientist, etc, and we always have need of low to mid level combatants, but for current players we would like to get some sort of indication that the character being applied for doesn't amount to an old character in a new hat, game wise.
In conjunction with the above addition/clarification in our application, we are now lifting the restriction against spy-type characters, but keep in mind that spy-types will be judged very carefully on what else they bring to the game, since we have a fair number of those.
The restriction against extremely melee-oriented characters remains in place, but we would like to clarify it. It applies only to original characters from series' that are not, themselves, melee-oriented.
These are 'role in game' based restrictions. The 'created as part of a sekrit project' background is still to be avoided.

'created as part of a sekrit project' Well, that'll suck for the Mini-Cons.

At least it'll cut down on this massive flood of Mini-Con OC applications we're fending off.
