Movie characters can scan new alternate modes on the spot, something that's a given from the movie series itself. However, because this is an extremely potent ability open to a lot of abuses, we have to put some limitations on it. Typical in-game ones include the concept that it is energy-consuming, so that a scan can only be accomplished once a day. They also, originally, were limited to a single mode that could be 'stored'. If they wanted a new alternate mode, they could scan one, or they could switch to the one they had stored, but if their current alternate mode is also their stored alternate mode, the only way to get a new alternate is to scan, and it was assumed that the stored mode was whatever the character used in the movie.
We've chosen to relax this somewhat, but will still have to be pretty strict on the matter because, again, this is an area open to some abuse. Movie characters are now allowed three 'stored' modes, that is new alternate modes they can switch to without actually scanning something in front of them. However, two of those three are going to be permanently set: all movie characters keep their to protoform/comet-slug (or whatever you want to call it) configurations on file as well as whatever mode they used in the movie on file (if this is one and the same for your character, contact us and we'll see about handling the special case). They may also keep a third mode on-file gained in Deadzone itself. They may not carry the third mode over from their home universe, and they do not have the memory space to keep more than one Deadzone-scanned mode on file, so if they want to replace their third stored mode, they will have to 'delete' the previous one first.
Hopefully, this should allow for more character flexibility, without automatically granting all movie characters an ability that would knock them into the 'High Power' group (which would be a bad thing - it limits how many other High Power characters you can get!).
Game on.
