We've expanded the list of character types that are 'overdone' and thus require better than normal applications listed on the Characters page (mostly Autobot types). Also, although it's mentioned on the FAQ, we've repeated the fact that Leadership, Strategy, and Tactics need better than normal justification on the Characters page. deadzone.pbworks.com/Characters

Another addition is being added to the 'Overdone/better than normal justification' list: Eastern-style martial artists, particularly of the Ninja/melee variety, any series. While 'general warrior' is a character type we pretty much always have room for, 'martial artists' is supposed to be a rare subtype of that. One would not think that by looking at the game as it is.
Please note that this restriction does not apply to other forms of melee centric, such as, for example, a Western-type boxer or pugilist, and a player could probably argue more easily for a non-ninja ranged martial artist, like a Zen archer or something. But these are not the kind of 'martial artists' that we tend to see many applications for.
Once more, these characters are not off-limits, but their applications will be judged more strictly than normal, with a bigger emphasis on what else the character has to offer the game. Further, the more of this type of character a single player already possesses, the harder it will be to get a new one.
