"No worse than some of the places I've driven back on Earth," Arcee says, looking down the path. "We might have to take it a little slow, but we should be able to drive on it."
Faster than walking, anyway, even if they couldn't go full out. Besides, Autobots were generally made to be able to drive anywhere, whether it was the dense jungles of South America or the snowy fields of the North Pole.

If Swerve could look any more offended at the thought of 'taking it slow', he would. What's the point of taking a road and then puttering along?
"Fine, whatever," he grumbles, irritation somewhat less than a subtle undercurrent in his tone. "So long as it goes somewhere that isn't here, 's fine by me, I guess." He's back to racer mode in a blink, his engine rumbling with his impatience to get moving; it even looks like they might not have to go single file, if Arcee isn't too bulky. It isn't the widest trail he's ever seen, but it's no bottleneck. "Let's just get goin' already." He can't help edging forward in anticipation.

The sudden attitude from Swerve has Arcee quite confused. All she'd said was that they might have to take it slow. The way he was acting, it was like she'd told Tracks or Sunstreaker that they'd gotten a smudge on their paintjobs.
With a shrug, she transforms to her own slim vehicle mode. "Let's get rolling then."

Swerve hears 'rolling' and that's more than good enough for him. He revs and launches himself forward, eager to feel terrain under his wheels again.
Maybe too eager, as he hits a low gap and his front end pops into the air, coming back down hard with a bark of tires and metal biting into stone. He's had worse, but he's unhappy all the same. There really will be no taking this road fast.
"Slaggit," he mutters, grudgingly easing back on the speed.

"Are you all right?" Arcee asks as she sees Swerve having road trouble.
Unlike her traveling companion, she's having no trouble with the slightly rougher road. Then again, while built for speed, she's also used to a greater variety of road conditions (not to mention being able to knock other people off the road).

"Yeah, I'm fine," Swerve snaps back. "Just went too f– …Maybe just a little too fa–" Primus, he can't say that. There's no such thing. "…Took it too hard," he says instead, and leaves it at that.
The scenery is vivid compared to Velocitron; it's a riot of light and colour, more shades of green than Swerve knew even existed. He spots the occasional… thing… moving around in the trees, colours clashing with the background, garish oranges and yellows. They fly, whatever they are. It's enough to take his concentration off the shoddy road and he doesn't mind the bumps quite so much, even if his undercarriage still scrapes on the occasional drop. He built himself low for better aerodynamics on a race track, not for off-roading. Nothing to be done about it now. He keeps silent, save a periodic grunt here or there, and observes.
And he thinks a little, too. Should he believe what that 'Perceptor' mech said over the radio? That he'd just been dropped here for no reason? It still sounds like a stupid, cheap prank, if a bothersome one. Just how far is this dump from Velocitron, anyway? How's he supposed to get back?

It's not hard for Arcee to guess what Swerve had been about to say. Just what was it with so many Autobots and speed? She understood it when it was Blurr--that was his main schtick--but with all the rest?
Stupid macho posturing, that was all it was.
She continues her own driving, occasionally paying mind to the creatures she sees. "Where are all the people?" she wonders aloud. "There's been plenty of signs of life..."

"Y'mean someone might actually bother livin' in this… stuff?" Swerve is genuinely incredulous at the thought; close terrain like this, he figures it'd be hard to do much of anything. Driving's a pain and he can't imagine trying to fight in here without knocking down half of it first. Or in the process. It's a big cluttered mess, like too many overpass supports all jumbled close together with these things on the ground bolting out in front of him– "WHOA–!" He taps the brake and slams his steering hard to the left, then to the right, spinning himself in a loose circle. He ends up with his rear chassis off the road and half into the underbrush.
It was reflex more than anything else. Hitting things is usually bad, after all.
"…Stupid fragging – did I miss it?!" he demands even as he looks for himself. He didn't feel any contact, but slag, the little whatever-it-was just….
Just went scurrying back into the bushes. Were Swerve in robot mode, his chin would probably be touching his chestplate right about now. Blank astonishment quickly becomes anger, however, and he guns his engine loudly as he heaves himself fully back onto the roadway.
"You sorry little sprocket sticker!" he snarls after it, where-ever it went.

"It looks like animals are the same wherever you go," Arcee says. "They do that back on Earth too."
Swerve is certainly a strange one, as far she's concerned. No knowledge of Earth or Cybertron, some strange phrases (who on Earth was 'Primus?')... Even if he was from an alternate timeline, it seemed very alternate indeed.

Swerve quietly utters another few choice words before righting himself and getting back to the travelling.
"On Earth, too, huh? Dunno how you can stand it." Just jumping in front of somebody like that, what a pain in the aft. "Nothing like that on Velocitron," he adds, "and lemme tell you, I'm glad for that. Nothing like this at all." Nope, just roads and dirt as far as the sensors can reach.

"Velocitron?" Arcee asks. "Is that where you're from? I've never heard of it before."
Strange name, but it did imply some kind of speed culture. Which certainly made sense in light of what she'd seen with Swerve. So unlike the distracted driver minibot she knew.

"Yeah, I'm from Velocitron," Swerve declares and rather proudly, too. "Nowhere better to be from, if you ask me. None of this distracting… stuff. All the open roads a mech could ever want." Did he sound wistful on that last part? Slag, he can't be homesick already. Or maybe he can.
That isn't the point.
"So… uh… Earth's like this, ya say?"

"It's an organic world, mostly. A bit like this one," Arcee replies. "The main inhabitants are humans, beings only a fraction of our size. They're more fragile, but highly resourceful."
She continues, "Earth itself... has just about every kind of environment you can imagine. Forests, jungles, deserts, tundras... It's an energy rich planet."
And the only place for the Autobots to call home these days.

"Humans?" The word rolls uncertainly from Swerve's vocorder and if he could sound any more clueless, someone might think he's Clocker's brother. How… well, 'cute' isn't any word he'd use to describe the younger racer. "What's a human?"
He hits another nice bump and bottoms out noisily.
"…And do they have decent roads?" he adds, ire rising.

"Humans are an organic lifeform," Arcee replies. "Bipedal, mostly hairless, and small by many galactic standards. Very intelligent, though. They've been our allies against the Decepticons for a long time."
She chuckles. "And yes, they have decent roads. They've paved over a great deal of the their world."
