Arcee likewise notices that the parts and tools are human-ish sized. "Anything I can do to help?" she asks. She's not that much different in size that Swerve--maybe a bit taller--but her overall build in slender. She's often just a little bit better at picking up and dealing with smaller stuff than comparitively sized male Autobots.

"Just… picking up some spares," Swerve says, terse but at least not uncivil, placing the valve with his other acquisitions. He hunkers down again, squinting into the shadows at the back in hopes of finding another valve or something else similarly useful; he can't do much with phase coils and bits of stepper motors – at least not with the tools on hand. His own mass is blocking what little light he'd been getting down here. Annoyingly, he can't reach in to shift things and shine a headlamp to see what the frag he's moving at the same time.

Arcee notices that, in accordance with some kind of universal narrative law, that hanging on the wall of the garage is a small calender with some kind of lifeform--presumably female--in what is presumably an erotic pose.
The obsession with the differences between the genders was something Arcee has never really figured out about organics.
"You're a mechanic?" Arcee asks.

Swerve's voice when he answers is somewhat muffled, as he's hunched over at a comically awkward angle with his face pressed against the floor.
"Guess you could say that," he says, shoving a grimy induction rotor housing out of his way. "Helps t' know ways a' fixin' yourself up after a bad run. Can be hard getting to a regular mechanic sometimes, 'specially if ya took a good beating." He sits up, a bit dusty but with another valve and half a handful of tiny solenoids as his prizes. Amazing, the sorts of things that fall behind shelves. "Why?" and he gives Arcee a quizzical look.

"Just haven't had much time to get myself looked at recently," she replies. "We all took a bit of a banging, but there were injuries a lot more severe that had to be dealt with first."
She shakes her head, remembering the time Carly had laughed the time she'd asked the question when she and Spike had been assisting First Aid with repairs. "Any chance you can get a look under my hood?"

Swerve stares for a second, then blinks, his optical shutters clicking audibly. If Arcee thought she'd caught him off guard back in the forest, she's just outdone herself.
"Uh… sure," he says, genuinely surprised, and rises to his feet. It isn't a question he's used to hearing; on the oil-sport circuit, a mech didn't trust just anybody to go poking about his systems. He probably wouldn't trust Arcee to look him over, so that she's asked, well… it's a little baffling, really. But whatever, it's her choice. He can roll with it. "Somethin' in particular outta line?"

He's got an Autobot symbol. That automatically makes him one of the good guys, at least, as far as the rules of the universe Arcee's from works.
Nobody ever introduce her to Flame, all right?
She transforms and pops her hood open. "Just a general check, I guess. I took a few shots and a couple glancing blasts from a null-ray. Can't really tell if I'm damaged or just worn down."

Well, he isn't quite sure what a null-ray is, but it doesn't sound pleasant.
"Alright then." Swerve picks up his swag and stuffs it into storage before leaning over to do as asked, lighting his headlamps so he can get a better look at things. He props himself lightly on Arcee's right front quarter – she feels cool under his hand, he notes absently – while he runs a quick scan. She's in good shape overall, a bit gritty from the fight she must've been in but nothing a good wash wouldn't fix, even if her build is obsolete by his standards; there's a part or two in here he can't name, or doesn't remember exactly what to call, he hasn't seen its like in so long. Some of it, he remembers, can get knocked loose in rough conditions. He starts giving nudges and prods, not rough but not gentle either, just testing. She's put together pretty well.
Well enough that there isn't much to be done. He tightens a cap there, a fastener here, pulls up a wrench and snugs down a few bolts, double-checks everything just to be sure.
"Should be fine with that for now," he declares, killing his headlamps and backing off.

Arcee's got no real problems with someone poking around in her engine. When you're outnumbered by male Transformers in what's nearly an alarming ratio, you tend not to really develop any phobias around it.
She transforms back to her robot form. "That feels better," she says. "Thanks."

Well, Swerve doesn't recall being thanked before. Not sincerely, at any rate. It's a funny feeling.
"…Don't mention it," he mumbles, shifting his weight uncomfortably, then turns to check the shelves one last time. The way Perceptor sounded on the radio, Swerve figures he's anxious for them to get moving. The racer wouldn't mind being back on the road either, rain and all.

"We should get moving then," Arcee says, heading toward the exit. She wanted answers, especially answers concerning what in the name of Cybertron people were doing calling that dipstick dumptruck of a Constructicon an Autobot.

Nothing immediately apparent. Maybe sometime later, he'll have a use for something. Swerve notes the location of the shop before plodding after Arcee.
"Works for me," he says, ducking out, ready this time for the sensation of the rain. The coolness of it is pleasant again. He transforms with the usual flurry of motion, slinging water off in the process, and lands with a thud on his tires to wait with an almost eager rumble for Arcee.
OOC: Mind a bit of time-skipping to the Beach thread?

"Let's roll," Arcee says, transforming as she does so.
Time to burn rubber.
