BOOM!
The resulting shockwave from the sonic boom blows Nightbeat off his feet, and clutching at his audio sensors. He rises more slowly than he'd like, and goes into vehicular mode, racing toward Skystrike with all three of his guns blazing.

She could see him now, stunned and slowed through the unsettled dust that billowed in what little breeze there was.
Better keep him that way.
Skystrike fired up one thruster heel to reverse her ascent before activating her antigravs and tilting her body in a half roll so that she was flying parallel to the ground. Both guns trained on the Autobot’s own weapons, the jet opened fire as she flew in a fleeting wide circle around him before sharply pulling up and out.

Advance warning and fair play are for suckers.
Winding around the side of the butte like a snake is a gaudy helicopter carrying another Transformer by his skids. When did they get here? It almost seems like they came out of nowhere.
Considering the character of the helicopter in question, it's just possible that he did.
Spinister notes the fight between a strange battle machine and a pair of Autobots off to the side. The battle machine seems to be admirably efficient, but while it fights Autobots, Spinister does not assume it a friend. He does catch sight of the pale grey Decepticon symbol on it, although there's something just a wee bit off about the 'optics' of the symbol. Shortround looked a bit odd. Perhaps it is a Decepticon from a stranger universe still. Spinister's still definitively marking it as friendly until he has better confirmation
Spinister swoops in down low, chasing after the car that can, regrettably enough, outrun him. He does have the advantage of not needing to avoid the obstacles of terrain. He just needs to avoid getting shot by the Seeker that is already harrying Nightbeat.
To lower his chances of friendly fire, he calls out to Seeker, "Spinister and Needlenose, here. Reinforcements."
The Seeker and Needlenose should be more than enough to keep Nightbeat occupied. As soon as this drop off job is done, Spinister has other ideas.

The robot that's hanging off the skids of the gaudy pink helicopter is none other than the fantabulous Needlenose! A robot who appears as though he ought to be able to transform into a jet, but here he is as a robot hanging onto someone else's skids instead.
"Sorry, pal," Needlenose says to Skystrike before diving off Spinister's skids. "This one might have some info I need! You're welcome to help me beat the scrap out of him, though!"
"Nightbeat! You and I gotta talk!" Needlenose calls out cheerfully as he lets go of Spinister's skids and dives straight for the fast moving blue car. In his dive, he takes some of the gunfire Skystrike had intended for Nightbeat, but shakes it off easily. With an agility that, quite frankly, he should not possess, he grabs hold of the small ledge of the car's roof as he falls past the car, curling up to hit before landing on his back on the road. Because he still has hold of Nightbeat when he does this, he effectively flips the vehicle over in his fall, then flings the blue car past his feet and into the side of the mesa with his currently enhanced strength.1

At first, nothing. Then, as the dial goes up and up, there's a... change in the air. It takes a moment for this change to be processed on the conscious level: it's a humming, incredibly low pitched, covering several frequencies at once. It appears to be emanating from the power plant itself. And it's getting louder...
As the strange humming increases, the flowers... calm. Their firing at the jets flying overhead becomes less and less frantic. And then, when the sound reaches its crescendo, they stop all together, still and harmless as ordinary plants for as long as the strange noise continues.

See that car down there? Yeah, that's me. Funny story, really. I got careless. Got in over my head. Got charged by somebody who's not supposed to be here--yeah, like I am--and didn't react in time. All of which leaves me teetering on the edge...
Nightbeat transforms, flipping into the air while he did so, landing on his feet, gun at the ready. He points it at Needlenose, but doesn't fire just yet. Time for the time honored detective strategy developed by his one-time mentor, Columbot: harass a suspect until they tell you everything.
"Well, well, well, the artsy-fartsy guy's got his mad-on!"

“The reason why we communicate with each other is so that we can avoid disabling comrades in battle.” There was steely disapproval in her thunderous voice, the tone underlined with exasperation and irritation. Skystrike was obviously not in the mood for observing reunions of sworn enemies. She wanted things to be quick and over with and efficient. They needed to be with Omega Supreme landing so nearby. Wait- Omega Supreme-
Hook!
Nightbeat’s attention was on the newcomer jet. Skystrike didn’t bother hesitating and aimed both guns down on the Autobot’s head before opening fire at full power. That new jet, Needlenose she heard his name was, better not be in the way. Especially now that Starscream had ordered him to get over and help with the very big Gaurdian problem.

Spinister just isn't a very chatty fellow. If he could get away with never saying another word, he would.
Now, he's not one to carry a grudge. He prefers to have his hands free to hold his two guns. However, Nightbeat may know something about what's wrong with Needlenose
Spinister had been planning on deeking off after dropping off Needlenose and slipping into the power plant, but Needlenose has been called off to face Omega Supreme. Starscream had better not get Needlenose killed, because if he does, he's a dangerously deranged leader who needs to be put down. On the other hand, if Needlenose survives, Starscream is a leader who is so far deranged that he comes out the other side at brilliant.
This leaves Spinister to extract the information that Needlenose needs. One could argue that Starscream has ordered him, as an unoccupied flier, to occupy Omega Supreme. Spinister would argue that he quit occupied here, with Nightbeat. Besides, Mayhems decide their own orders. If they're feeling charitable, they'll check with with High Command first. Because Starscream has dispatched Needlenose on a suicide run, Spinister is not.
He radios to his student, //Try to get in close. Omega Supreme shouldn't expect firepower like yours from such a little jet. If he does, you're slagged, anyway.//
With his burden gone, Spinister transforms and drops out of the air, away from Skystrike's line of fire. While he's falling, he calls Hairsplitter to his hand and snaps off a shot at Nightbeat's ankle. Nightbeat's a great detective. What does it say when a member of the Mayhem Attack Squad known for his accuracy doesn't aim to kill?
Spinister hits the dust, black and clotting. He calls out, voice hollow, "You'd better tell me your time stamp, detective, or I'll pry it out of your cold, dead circuits."

Needlenose clenches his fists, angrily, at his newest orders. It's not just that his orders are slagging suicidal, it's that he's got unfinished business here. He snarls and points at Nightbeat. "This ain't over, Detective!"
Boy, he sounds like someone from a Batman comic!
The gray and lavender jet then turns and sprints towards Omega Supreme's base form, Sunbeam and Zigzag virtually springing to his hands as he does. He does take satisfaction in one thing: Nightbeat will be able to see the results of what Needlenose is about to pull, hit or miss, and he'll learn why maybe he shouldn't take old "artsy-fartsy" lightly.

Nightbeat seemed non-pulsed at being shot at by Spinster, and even by Needlenose's sudden departure, though he does take a moment to sidestep the fire directed toward him.
"Knew we couldn't trust you to keep a truce, you sorry excuse for a whirlybird!" he snaps at Spinster.

//“I’m coming just as soon as I have incapacitated this Autobot.”// Or not. The issue was certainly pressing enough; she would have left this Autobot to join in on harrying Omega Supreme if only she weren’t as worried about the still-active Autobots as much as she was about the Gaurdian. Drawing all forces to the giant left the smaller Autobots free to do as they pleased. Things like stopping Hook for an example.
Skystrike was growing indecisive. Protect Hook from Omega Supreme or deal with the smaller sized Autobot forces?
When that the other new flier -Spinister- stepped in, that cut the deal and Skystrike transformed leaving the blue Autobot in the hands of someone who obviously knew him better. All the worse for him. Without further ado, the jet blasted skywards with a deafening roar of engines that echoed across the pale skies.

Spinister watches the Seeker above of him peel off. Skystrike, is it? He sounds quite sensible, from what Spinister's heard on channel. Skystrike's kind of funny in the voice department, although Spinister wouldn't know how to describe it. After all, Spinister's never heard a female Decepticon.
Normally, he'd agree with Skystrike about pursuing the gal instead of harrying individual Autobots. Indeed, he thought about sneaking into the plant. That was before Needlenose was called off on his fool's mission. Needlenose needs his answers.
Logically, Spinister should be terrified out of his mind by Omega Supreme, but he cannot bring himself to feel anything more than a cold detachment. It is how he is, and he wouldn't change it. Fear clouds the mind, and it's one of his favorite sorts of cover. He brings Hairsplitter to bear again, now aiming for Nightbeat's right hip joint. The detective is babbling abut some truce. Needlenose mentioned surrendering, but he didn't mention a truce.
Spinister hisses, "Oh, come on. How long did you expect it to last? 1989? We're Decepticons!"
C'mon, correct Spinister on the date.

Which might have more to do with the fact that Nightbeat's in a crabby mood and doesn't much care if it's a truce or surrender or what, given that Prime was planning on surrendering to the 'cons once they got back to Earth.
"You take stupid fuel this morning, Spinster? It's 1990!"

Spinister doesn't let on anything as Nightbeat reveals something rather interesting. The reaction seems genuine, especially considering the invective that's flung at him. Autobots just love to hear the sounds of their own voices, don't they? That puts Nightbeat from a time a bit after Needlenose. He was on the Ark at the time of surrender, according to Needlenose's report.
He's a bit frustrated at his misses. He doesn't miss. He doesn't miss measly little car Autobots. Sure, it's a new planet, it's dusty, and the heat is warping his vision a bit, but he's had time to calibrate. Chastising himself, he takes careful aim at Nightbeat's shoulder and fires. As he does, Spinister replies, "So how's the Ark doing these days?"

It's worth noting that Spinster has not exactly been missing, merely that Nightbeat's doing an extraordinarily good job of staying on his feet. A good detective has to learn to roll with the punches--or energy beams in this case--and keep going even after a good solid beating.
With the most recent blast, though, one squarely in his shoulder, he grunts, dropping his weapon and dropping to one knee.
Gonna have to rethink who was takin' the stupid fuel...
He should reach for his gun. He should transform. He should do any number of aggressive things. It's in his nature, to a certain extent. But... "Lousy 'con... this is stupid. None of us want to be here. You too stupid to see that?"
