This thread takes place sometime after Prodigal returneth, putting it in the 6-8 day category.
Starscream is happy.
He's currently in a sitting over the main console in his office. He's got a datascreen out, transferring notes from the screen to a more securely-kept console, as well as adding notes, theories and speculation of his own. Every now and then he takes a moment to chuckle quietly to himself.
Happy, happy Starscream.

Shockwave makes his way to Starscream's office. There are things they need to discuss, things that have been shunted aside as they have dealt with these other Autobots and the invasion plans.
If the door to Starscream's office is shut and locked, Shockwave will knock. If not he will simply walk in. Either way, once in, he will say, "We need to talk about this alliance of yours, Starscream." He catches glimpse of some of the data Starscream is transferring. "However, I would be most interested in what you have there, as well."
OOC: Couldn't tell from post if the door was shut or not. Sorry!

We'll go with closed, but not locked.
"Enter." Starscream says at the closed door, quietly closing down his work, but opening it once again once he realizes it is Shockwave. "This alliance of ours is going to wipe out the Autobots once and for all. As for this..?" Starscream gestured at the datascreen, his knowing smile creeping over his face, "This is the means by which our allies travelled to this place. Spinister brings me the most thoughtful gifts whenever he gets back from a vacation."

Shockwave crosses over to the desk, grasps the edge and leans over. His headfins tilt back sharply, "He brought you information on the portal and you didn't bother to contact me immediately? You wasted this time..." A beat, then another, and Shockwave settles back, "Ah, I forget. You actually use your intelligence for something other than plotting treachery and causing trouble."
That is about as close to an apology as Starscream is likely to get.
"Just how thorough," Shockwave points at the datascreen, "is that information?"

Starscream doesn't cause trouble these days? How about that.
"Not just the portal," Starscream corrected, "But the portal generator. As for thorough, it is sufficient enough for me to fill in the blanks1," He gestures at his console, "which is what I have been doing. Spinister does good work." Starscream is beginning to suspect that in a world where a non-flying non-scientist Starscream and a suicide-over-video-games Optimus exist, the Mayhems are some kind of fluke of competence. The glee in Starscream's optics vanishes. "For now, this is a secret." And it's back, just like that.
1Disclaimer: This is Starscream we're talking about, boys and girls, and he is prone to reach further than his grasp. Just because he says this doesn't necessarily make it true, in case someone thinks I'm being cheap, or whatever.

Very careful, very deliberate are the words that Shockwave chooses as he says, "I am sure he does; he seems the type to be very thorough. I am certain between the two of us we can make up for any omissions in his information."
Careful, careful.
"You are going to give me that data now, aren't you, Starscream?" Shockwave's tone if calm, even as ever, yet still in that quiet question is a the suggestion that not agreeing would be a very bad thing for Starscream to do at the moment.

"Once I am finished here..." Starscream says, returning to his transcribing and elaboration, "...you'll receive a full copy." Shockwave is going to get what he wants, but Starscream is going to make him wait just a little bit for it. Starscream's smile widens a little more as he notes the precision in Shockwave's tone as he asks his questions. "As near I can tell, this device is designed to be hand-held, but I'm certain with the proper adjustments and modifications we can miniaturize the process even further--Given that we have several Predacons and Vehicons that are smaller than the average Decepticon, I imagine we could learn some things about miniaturizing Cybertronian technology through reverse-engineering." Of course, Starscream doesn't realize that perhaps Shockwave knows a thing or two about miniaturization himself...

Optic...twitch.
"Needlenose specializes in miniaturized tech." And yes, so does Shockwave to a lesser extent. Not that Shockwave is advertising that at the moment. "He does excellent work."
"That said, I question the logic in utilizing such technology on a grand scale. This is not merely transport between probable realities or points in time within one universe. This is travel between different universes, forcing a door between two realms never meant to even know of the other's existence let alone touch. The risk is great."
"I highly recommend that you content yourself with whatever you might gain here, and that we concentrate our efforts on adapting the technology towards returning those who wish to their proper places. Not everyone suffers in second place in their reality, Starscream," Shockwave adds softly, perhaps subtlety suggesting that Starscream maintains his position partially due to Shockwave's sufferance.
Shockwave pulls a datapad from subspace and sets it down on Starscream's desk. "If it's all the same, I would prefer a copy now, unamended. If we both individually work to 'fill in the gaps' as you said, then cross-compare conclusions, we are more likely avoid pitfalls, and whatever traps may have been worked into the plans."
After all, if Shockwave was going to leave such sensitive schematics where they might be found, hacked, or otherwise appropriated, he would certainly toss in a few incorrect calculations, leave out a critical step, just to be difficult and protect his intellectual property. Why expect less of this mirror Perceptor?

Second place? Oh, Shockwave, do you know nothing about your commander in this reality?
Starscream snaps upright, resting his arms on his desk as he yells as Shockwave. "We are NOT abandoning ANYONE'S post here! You saw it yourself, we were placed here with a purpose! And I will use this for whatever goals I see fit, including when I share it with you!"
Starscream bats the placed datapad from his desk, causing it to make a loud sound as it impacts on the wall before clattering on the ground.

Oh, Starscream, that might be the most foolish thing you've ever done.
No flicker of Shockwave's optic betrays this time, not even the barest movement of his headfins at Starscream's outburst. Shockwave crosses the room, retrieves his datapad, and makes a show of checking it for damage. Starscream should be thankful that his little temper tantrum seems to have caused no harm.
Once back in front of Starscream, Shockwave places the datapad deliberately back down on the desk before taking a seat across from Starscream. Propping his head in his hand, Shockwave looks the picture of boredom. "You are the same. Pride too easily pricked, single-minded. What I saw was that the arrival points have the vague shape of an artifact common to most realties represented, if not all, which implies merely that this might not be a truly random occurrence. This is no post, Starscream, but an exile."
"You wish to stay here because here you are not at Megatron's beck and call." An edge creeps into Shockwave's voice, "At least not yet. But you have no right to force those of us who need to return, who want to return, not to explore ways to do so. And you most certainly can not stop me from doing so." Shockwave taps his datapad, then picks it up and subspaces it. "Keep your data and your pride for now. Just remember this incident, Starscream, the next time you are desiring information from me."

Oh come now. Starscream has done plenty of foolish things.
And with the line, 'At least not yet', the wrathful face of Starscream immediately vanishes as his jaw drops in shock. How... dare he. Megatron is not coming here. Starscream snaps out of it quickly and closes his mouth as he picks up the datapad. He allows a silence to pass.
"You'll get what you want when I'm done. Now, you had something to say about the alliance."

Keep hoping, Starscream. Just because a Megatron has not arrived to date does not mean he will not. After all, the powers that be could decide they do not want to make these toys anymore and contrive a plot to replace all the established characters with new builds. Sure, sure the fans will wail and gnash their teeth but look! Shiny new toys!
"I did." Shockwave does not elaborate immediately, taking time to choose his words carefully. He wants to avoid a full out struggle with Starscream if he can. It is so much easier to get things done when one is not trying to herd cybercats.
"What are your intentions with this, Starscream? Use them to destroy our Autobots, then turn on them? Have you thought through the logistics of such a move?"
"Do you know what it takes to bring down a Prime? Not to defeat him, but to destroy him?"

"Of course. Firepower, and lots of it. Between you, me, Big Scourge, Needlenose and Long Range, I'm certain we can manage that," Starscream says. "But of course, you think differently. So, out with it already."

"Short-term. You are thinking in the short term. Yet. Again."
Shockwave shifts so that one ankle is crossed on the opposite knee, gunarm in his lap.
"Yes, yes," He waves his hand dismissively, "We possess the firepower to bring the Prime down, either Prime, provided we are afforded opportunity." There is more to it then that, of course.
Give Shockwave another day in his own reality, and he would have torn the Matrix from the ruin of Optimus Prime's chest.
"However, it is not so simple as that. We need a Prime alive, Starscream. And I would prefer it not to be this Prime to which you have tied us.""

"Short term? For death?" Starscream doesn't speak up about how for some people it can only be a short term thing just yet.
"So first, Shockwave, you have concerns about destroying a Prime. But then, when I offer my solution you tell me we need one alive. Only you don't want the one that we have to be the one alive, so we're back to killing him." Starscream's irritated and waiting for the one-handed faceless cyclops to prove that common sense shouldn't be added to the already vast list of things he is lacking.
"And what are you getting at? We need an intact matrix, certainly, but do we need a Prime any longer than it takes to retrieve it?"
