Mirage pokes because he can, and because he does not fear who and what he should. Scourge is menacing, powerful, but Mirage is used to being in the company of such mechs. He has borne the brunt of such fury as seems to lurk within Scourge, both before and after his displacement and yet, Mirage lives. He is cocksure because of that, yes, but he also loves walking that edge, balancing between pitfalls. Doing so lets Mirage believe that he rules his own fate- at least for a little while.
Scourge doesn't take the bait, though, and that both pleases and annoys Mirage. He does not know how long it will take before Rodimus arrives (if he does), and the spy would prefer not to give away too much information.
"Hmm, let me see if I can recall," Mirage muses, deliberately letting contempt color his tone "Ah, yes, you should be one of us, but Megatron tainted you. A lot Autobot, a lot Decepticon, and just for spice, a touch of human. And to top it all off, you look like the ever popular Optimus Prime."
Mirage's optics narrow at that last, "Almost everyone says their Optimus was a formidable opponent, a great warrior. I can not see it." Mirage very pointedly looks Scourge up and down, "Strength of form is not everything and my own Optimus was an easily controlled weakling, for all his power.1 We were losing because of him."
1 This turned out to not be the truth at all, but Mirage wasn't around long enough after Prime's ascension to learn any different.

Scourge snorts with something that could be either amusement or irritation, and he replies, "The difference between taint and redemption is merely perspective."
He pauses, considering, and he grants, "That is rather detailed data as to the components of my conception. You have an Autobot of my reality in your midst." He states it flatly, not as a question. There can be no question.
Scourge concludes mildly, "Doesn't surprise me."
Oh, did Mirage expect Scourge to get huffy over the insult to his hated father's alternate? He is ever so sorry, but he hates his father, as far as insults to Optimus Prime go, Scourge has already thought worse, no matter the severity.

Mirage tilts his head, says lightly, "We do not currently have anyone from your reality with us." Not a lie, since neither Wedge nor Sideburn were brought over by Kup. They could be dead for all Mirage knows. "And information gathering is one of my specialties, after all."
"Everything is a matter of perspective, Scourge."
Mirage quiets for a moment, studies his fingertips. He does not relax, really, but there is a subtle change in his demeanor as he considers memories and thoughts best left alone.
"Do you consider yourself redeemed then?" Mirage asks softly, genuinely curious as to Scourge's answer.

"Currently," Scourge echoes, catching that pernicious little word. That is all and more than he needed to hear.
He replies, shrugging, "I am not as I was meant to be, but are any of us really?" He turns his gaze sharply upon the spy. "Can you say that, without reservations, you are exactly as you were intended?"
Questions are meant to be turned around and thrown back at their owners, like bladed boomerangs.

Rodimus Prime returns from his meeting with Swerve, face twisted into an expression of displeasure. The encounter did not go entirely as planned.
Despite this, his walk is firm and confident as he moves with the certainty that no one else on this planet is his equal. While he is not unalert, he is unworried, and this shows itself in his every action.
By this point, though he's not entered the warehouse yet, it's entirely possible that the careful listener can hear his heavy footsteps on the metal road, echoing closer with every passing second.
OOC: Not on scene yet. Will be joining next post.

Mirage shrugs, and with that movement pulls the cloak of amused disinterest around him once again. "As you said, are any of us exactly as we were intended? We can only perform our functions as we perceive them, make our choices according to our own prejudices."
He gestures idly, "Then again, perhaps we are as we were meant to be, after all. Puppets of greater powers. Who knows? After all, we did all wind up here, did we not?"
One corner of Mirage's mouth quirks up, "And you didn't quite answer my question. I'll give you points for the smooth evasion technique, though."

Scourge picks out footsteps, just ever so faintly, and he knows that Mirage is baiting him with these cries of 'mongrel' and 'puppet'.
It is not enough for this killer whale, black-clad and descended of mammal blood, to refuse the bait meant for some mere fish. He must remove himself from this cesspool of a pond.
He suggests, "Walk with me, Mirage?"
Without waiting for a response, Scourge heads off, into the night.
It's such a shame that he's liable to run into the Prime, isn't it?

Is it?
Scourge gets no more than two steps out of the exit when Rodimus comes into view, his bright colors reflecting brightly in the moonlight, though right now it's only a normal reflection - no strange darklight.
As he spots Scourge leaving his own temporary shelter, he smiles brightly, warmly, falsely.
"Greetings, Scourge! Lost, are we?"

Mirage is very pleased by Scourge's invitation. It saves Mirage the need to find some excuse for detaining Scourge. And then the spy catches the sound of those oh-so-familiar footsteps. His smile widens just a touch as he pushes himself off the wall and follows behind the Decepticon.
He stops, though, once he catches sight of Rodimus. Mirage leans against the door jamb, watching the Prime approach- and watching Scourge.
"Rodimus," Mirage says, and his tone is at once familiar and biting, "Had your fill of the... entertainment as well?"

Scourge is mostly black and gunmetal, with a bit of ruby and teal. He glints in the darkness, finely polished, more hinting and suggesting at a form than revealing the structure in whole. Scourge exists in gleams and glances, as he moves, but he comes up short, and he is still.
He is not allowed to interact with this one, so he will keep this as brief as possible, before his rage can carry him off. Scourge replies smoothly, shaking his head, "No, sir, I do believe that I am found. Getting lost is what I am attempting to do presently."
Scourge steps aside and gestures to Mirage, so that the roommates might reclaim each other, and Scourge may be off.

Rodimus, for the moment, keeps his distance, but the faint smirk gracing his lips may well be as infuriating as his near-presence can sometimes be.
"Sadly, the entertaining was neither filling nor fulfilling, Mirage. We'll have to figure some way to make up for it, I imagine. But later."
He inclines his head towards Scourge. "Why off in such a hurry, Scourge? You came by to visit my quarters - do you mean to suggest that it wasn't me you were looking for? But then, why else would an ally attempt to invade my privacy as you have? Surely you weren't spying despite the truce?"

One browridge quirks up, and Mirage gives Rodimus a questioning look. When Mirage left the party. Rodimus was in fine spirits. Rodimus' moods are quite mercurial, though, and Mirage wonders what could have offended the Prime now.
But that can wait. Mirage turns his attention to Scourge and chuckles, "You're attempting to get lost? After inviting me out for a starlight stroll? That's not very gentlemanly now, is it? I'm tempted to take offence."
Mirage rubs his chin thoughtfully, as he looks from Scourge to Rodimus and back again. His tone is mocking when he adds, "But I imagine you're really running off because you're afraid of playing with fire."

Scourge makes a clicking noise and answers, all innocence, "If you're looking for a spy, look at your roommate. I am a soldier, and I was simply familiarising myself with the area. I had no idea this was your room. My apologies, sir."
Scourge just snort at Mirage's comments. Let them laugh when they are crushed under his boot heels. Instead, he says simply, "I shall not blemish your sight any more this evening."
He tries to put a bit of distance between himself and the Autobots.

"Apologies accepted, Scourge, but why assume you are a blemish in my sight?" Rodimus asks, moving to cut off Scourge's departure, but in a way that keeps his distance. "Tonight is a night of intermingling, of getting to know our new comrades while celebrating in a shared victory. Besides, if you need to know the layout of the area, it is... not far different from the same area back home."
Rodimus smiles, and it is a friendly, welcoming smile, which makes it seem all the more dangerous. "Why hide yourself away, Scourge?"

Mirage opts not to poke Scourge again, instead quietly watching the interactions between Scourge and the Prime. Mirage has seen this before, this almost seductive dance of the Prime's, this careful manipulation. He's been the target of it, as well. And Mirage knows that once Rodimus has set his mind to something- or someone- it is almost impossible to turn him away.
Scourge might just manage it, though. The Decepticon has thus far not risen to the bait of Mirage's insults, but the spy is quite certain that, if allowed, Scourge would happily destroy him. Such control takes great willpower, and willpower is what it takes to resist the lure of Rodimus Prime. This night might prove to be a fun one yet.
