Swerve just waves off Wedge, because if he yells what he really needs – people to shove off and stop nagging him when he says he's fine – the kid will never stop glitching at him about teamwork and friends and all that scrap. Swerve's had his fill for the day. Probably the week.
He makes an irritated noise and crouches to start searching the rubble, then stops dead. For an instant, it felt like he'd just been punched square in the middle.
"Primus frag it," he wheezes, scowling and cranking down his ventral sensor net. Warnings flash at him about the risk and he ignores them for now; he'll tend to the damages once he finds his weapon. In the meantime, he sets to shifting aside junk while he searches. Looking over parts divorced from smashed vehicles and bits of sheet metal for anything usable is second nature and he sets aside the most appealing pieces without thinking about it.
It takes him a handful of seconds to realise that Gizmo is just standing there. Swerve keeps working, but he heaves a rattling, impatient sigh.
"Go help the team captain or something," he growls. "Quit playin' lamppost."

Wedge honestly wouldn't be able to see just how someone could survive without the help of friends and teammates. He's just be even more stubborn about his point and that would probably make things a little tense for the rest of the mission because Wedge just can't let things go without a fight (Rapid Run was totally in for a bit of a rumble if the other members of Team Bullet Train and the Build Team hadn't intervened).
// Sideburn? C'mon give me something here, Sideburn! //
A few steps here, a few steps there and suddenly Wedge finds the world tilting sideways and the ground crashing a bit closer as a loose piece of junk slips beneath his feet. Slag it all! With a small growl, Wedge twists in an attempt to right himself again. That growl dies quickly in his vocalizer and is swiftly replaced with a startled keen as a familiar glimpse of a flame-clad blue catches his optics.
"Sideburn!"
With more speed than seems possible, Wedge scrabbles towards the peek of blue. Junk flies as the Buildbot struggles to unearth the Autobot Brother. "Gizmo! Gizmo, quick!" There's a slight note of panic in Wedge's voice as more and more of Sideburn is revealed. C'mon, Sideburn, say something.....

"Huh?" Gizmo abruptly stops shaking and turns toward Swerve. "Uh... yeah, okay." He turns back in Wedge's direction -- just in time to see the bulldozer-mech go down. Whoops! "Hey, you all right?" he asks, picking his way through the rubbish to get to his side.
Then Wedge calls out for him, and he picks his pace up. "What is... oh no!" His fuel tank jolts at the sight of flame-bedecked blue, and he very nearly freezes in panic. Somehow he manages to keep a grip on his panic, though, and he starts pawing through the junk in an effort to unearth (un-junk) the other Viper. He manages to uncover a shoulder, then his head... an unresponsive head. Sigma, this isn't good...

Swerve only just glances up to check on the others – so they found the dipstick – before he goes back to his own search. Don't need three heads smacking into each other over Sideburn when two can do the job just fine. If they really need Swerve, they'll yell.
He kicks aside something that used to be an etched, decorative window frame and advances further into his end of the junk heap.
What a smelted mess. Swerve scowls and punches an already impacted door. He could be here all day digging for his cannon; of course, he wouldn't have this problem if he'd put a drawback line on it. Or a tracking sensor. Or a beacon. A really bright beacon.
"Rivets," he snarls to himself as he tosses away a nondescript rubbish bin. Might as well just arm it at this point. He'd find it then, for sure.

Sideburn groans as his systems boot up. The last thing he remembers is being hit by a ton of junk. His optics power up and he blinks up at the two above him. "Hey... What'd I miss?" He manages a grin at them as he tries to pull free the arm that they'd gotten the junk off of his shoulder. His other arm is still trapped underneath something heavy. He winces in pain as he tries to move his legs and does a diagnostic. Nothing major is broken or mangled and he'll be able to walk, but it's still painful.
"Where's Swerve? Did he get out?" He tries to look around for the last member of the team, but what he can see is limited.

The feeling of something steadily compressing his fuel pump completely disappears when Sideburn's optics power back on. "Sideburn!" There is an unbelievably large amount of relief and happiness in Wedge's voice as he shoves whatever junk he can reach off of the Autobot brother before yanking the other in a crushing hug (not too crushing though, honest).1 For the moment, it doesn't matter that this probably isn't the most 'tough guy' thing to do, but really, Sideburn's alright. He's alright.
"We found him before we got to you," Wedge says with a lop-sided grin, a bout of self-consciousness finally catches up to him and he pulls away with a slight sheepish look. "He doesn't look to great, but at least we found him when he was still online." The Buildbot turns around just in time to catch Swerve's punch to a door before looking back at Sideburn. "You need to see him for something?" Because it won't be too good if both of them are suffering from bad damages.
Oh bolts! Why doesn't he know anything about repair? Sure he can fix a space-bridge, but what use is that when your friends are hurt?

When Sideburn boots back up and addresses the others, Gizmo just about falls over with relief. He'd sweep the Viper up in a hug, but it looks like Wedge already beat him to it, so he settles for a relieved laugh.
"You gave us a scare," Gizmo tells him. "Don't do that again, alright? Um, what'd you miss? Not much. Just a lot of digging."

Swerve doesn't even bother looking up in spite of all the racket. Not like he needs to, as much noise as the others are making.
At least he isn't dead. He curses to himself and sits back for a moment to spare his midsection. I can just see the dust-up those two would start if I had to strip everything usable off his chassis. But that whole point's a dead end now, so no matter. Swerve heaves a rattling sigh and pushes some more junk away with one foot. Parts shift and things topple without the support that one piece offered. Swerve jumps to his feet with a shouted obscenity in reflex, then goes still almost as quickly. That looks like a very familiar shade of red peeking out from the pile.
He should know; he picked it out himself.
"Slag, yes!" he exults and digs in. It's only a short second or three before he hauls out his cannon with a grin of mixed relief and malice.

Sideburn helps as much as he can to clear the junk off of him, but he's still surprised when Wedge pulls him into the bear hug. "Wha! I'm okay Wedge, really!" His protests are really half-hearted at best, and after a moment of flailing he attempts to pat Wedge on the back in return. "Nah, I just couldn't see him from where I was," he replies to Wedge's question about him needing Swerve for something.
He grins at both Gizmo and Wedge, then glances over at Swerve. He frowns when he sees the damage the racer has taken, though it doesn't look like it'd be much more than superficial. The placing, however, would make it rather awkward to try to see. "Hey Swerve! Would you mind me taking a quick peek at that side of yours once you get the plating off? It'd probably be easier for me to spot anything that your diagnostics aren't reporting." Sideburn promises to be a good boy and keep his hands to himself! He figures his chances of Swerve letting him help even that much hover right around Prowl not dragging him back for some duty or other when he tries to go on a date, but they'd be even lower if he didn't try, right?

Wedge looks Sideburn over despite the other's protests--not that he'd be able to tell too much from it, but as long as Sideburn's not leaking something and missing vital parts he'll be alright, right? "I'm glad you're okay." It's a cheesy line, but Wedge's delivery of it makes it sound as if it's one of the most weighty things in the world. The pat on the back from Sideburn earns a wide smile. Then comes Swerve's exclamation and Wedge nearly lurches back towards the racer as the junk pile begins shifting again--but it seems to be unneeded.
Oh yes, Wedge would more than just a little distraught if Swerve began salvaging Sideburn as spare parts.
Okay, time to give Sideburn some breathing room. Wedge picks himself up and offers the Autobot brother a hand up if need be.
"Huh, speaking of looking for things, I wonder if we could find whatever Screwdriver used to start this whole mess?"

Well, now that they've found their comrades and the danger appears to be over for the moment, Gizmo can calm down now. But now he's beginning to feel rather useless just standing here, so his gaze wanders over to Swerve... who's just pulled something out of the junk. Hey, nice gun...
"Awesome, you found it," he says with a grin. "Not busted or anything, is it?"
When Wedge suggests looking for Screwdriver's little toy, he turns his attention back to the bulldozer. "Huh? Oh, that thing... think it'd be useful? I mean, if we figured out how it worked and all..."

It's just as Swerve has finished checking the case for damages and is about to call down a Cyber Key to get the barrels in place so he can examine the sights and function that Sideburn pipes up. The racer's back goes ramrod straight – something in his midsection crackles with the sudden movement – and he glares.
"My side's fine." It's his ventral plate that's taken most of the damage, he's sure. He'd know if his main coolant pump itself was damaged; smelt, they'd all know because he'd be laid out. Only Primus knows how grateful Swerve is he avoided that. "And I don't want you nosin' around in my systems," he adds, tone especially hostile. The day he just lets somebody else handle his repairs is the day he gives up racing.
That'll be a cold day in the smelter.
"Dunno," he mutters, glancing to Gizmo and back at his weapon. His engine revs angrily and the air crackles with energy and heat as yet another Cyber Key comes down, and it's probably a good thing for Swerve that his scowl masks the wince that loading it induces. "Lemme find out!" He turns and takes aim down the street, focusing on the local equivalent of a window box. The flowers that used to grow in it are long withered after several seasons' neglect. Nobody's gonna miss 'em anyway. And he fires once, twice, three times. When the air clears, the window box and the wall around where the window used to be are both gone. Swerve lets his arm drop to his side and he looks back at Gizmo. "Definitely ain't broken."

Sideburn accepts the hand up and gives Wedge a grin when he's on his feet before brushing dust off of his legs, then hands. "Did you see what she used? It'd already be like finding a needle in a haystack."
He nods when Swerve says his side is fine, then winces a bit at the follow-up remark. Geez, he was just asking! A simple 'no' would have been fine.
His hurt doesn't last long though, and he whistles at the damage from Swerve's shot. "Yeah, I'd say that looks like it's working fine."

Wedge fights hard not to keep his mouth hanging open at Swerve's testing of his firepower. No, now is not the time to be fanboying over really cool explosions. But that was so cool! At least they know Swerve's gun is alright, even if Swerve's own condition is a little less sure.
"Well, no, I don't really know what Screwdriver used. But I'll take a couple observations and make a report of this, maybe someone back home might have more of an idea." Wedge lightly kicks at what looks like it could have been a metal box of some sort before its devastating encounter with the rolling trash ball. "It's just that with all that sticking and stuff, it kind of reminded me of that little incident in Repair when we first met Screwdriver..." Yeah, remember that? Car-dozer sandwich?

Gizmo can't help but stare at Swerve as he summons his cyber key and blows up part of the scenery. No matter how many times he watches others in action, he can't get over just how cool some of the weaponry is that others possess. It makes his "hot glue gun" feel rather useless and wimpy in comparison sometimes, and he can't help but look longingly at Swerve's cannon and wishing he had something similar.
Perhaps it's best for the hacker's none-too-stable ego that he never realizes that he was given his glue gun because his commander figured it was the weapon he was least likely to hurt himself with.
Then he shakes himself and bends down, digging through the junk and rubble. Maybe he'll find Screwdriver's toy...
