Skyfire has thin armor, but he's not weak--or small. He heaves himself to his knees, grabs the zombie Seeker and flings it into the pile of approaching zombie-mechs--
Who suddenly stop, unbalanced, and fall over to sink slowly into the mud. Skyfire gets to his feet, awkwardly, and shakes the sludge out of his cannon while he evaluates the situation. Smoke from the burning tree drifts across the swamp...
--That silver ovoid looks awfully damn familiar.
"Perceptor... that is another probe just like the one from the island. Not Gillanese. Kup's alien race. And these drones all just lost their controlling signal. There's a connection--"
Was the new guy trying to attack the probe?
"Dai-Janku! Beware! It has an explosive self-destruct!"

Springer grins a bit as Perceptor rises, and opens up a can of science-flavored whupass on the zombots. Then he starts to aim, smirking. "Good to see you're back with....us..." he says, dropping off as the attackers do so as well, lowering his gun.
"...huh. At least that's over..."
Then Skyfire yells about the pod-thing, and he walks over to where the Air Guardian is, pondering out loud. "Think we can disable it and capture it?"

Well, at least Dai-Janku didn't yell 'BREAST FIRE!' when he made that attack.
Yet.
Noting the zombots heading for him, Dai-Janku draws his sword from the muck, and dashes at the nearest one, Ultra Magnus, and with a small leap, liberates the City Commander of his head, which goes off, clattering across the walkway. Dai-Janku lands, ready to continue with his attackers, when they all collapse.
He pouts slightly, retracting the blade on his sword, and slumping slightly. "Right when it was getting fun, too." The sword hilt is snapped into the vacant space on his chest, then he stoops to pick up his trophy of sorts when Skyfire says stuff about the pod being explosive. "Let it blow up, 'cause I don't like it. Nothing good ever came from anything that has tentacles, I tell you!"

Perceptor is scanning for a new target, and so it takes him a full second to make note of the result of his light blast. Of Optimus taking as much of the blast as Megatron does.
Of Optimus falling. Again.
"...no..."
It is a very good thing that the other zombies have lost function with the fall of the warlord and the Prime, because Perceptor is in no shape to defend himself from a gnat, much less another zombie.
"Optimus," he breathes brokenly, making no note of the observation drone that Dai-Janku has tried to hit and that Skyfire is warning them of.
Well, he was "back with you" for a few second, Springer. He may require another tackle, or a smack upside the head.

The drone does nothing but impassivly watch the group after it is identified. That it is the object of so much attention and debate phases it not one whit.
Then, suddenly, it stiffens, twists it's body and dives into the sand pit which had taken the two faction leaders. Within seconds, it is swallowed by the quicksand, tentacles and all.
Wait for it....
BOOM!
Muddy, murky water and sand is sent flying everywhere, on everyone, and the swamp water quickly flows over and closes the sandtrap.
OOC: Scenemod is now skippable again, and will make one final post after the group has left the swamp. While most of the bodies are going to be unsalvagable for a variety of reasons, you're welcome to scavange a few parts. And someone really ought to look at Dai-Janku's trophy at some point.
Prime and Megatron, however, are not recoverable no matter how much you try, just an FYI.

Skyfire flinches and ducks his head at the explosion, sparing himself a face full of muddy sand. Not that it helps much; his formerly white form is covered with mud from head to toe and wings as well. It drips off him in big gloopy chunks.
"I just couldn't have been wrong, could I?" he says ruefully. "Dai-Janku, apparently it granted your request. How damaged are we? Springer? Dai? Perceptor?"
Skyfire sloshes over towards the red scientist, who looks... lost. Skyfire gently rests a hand on his shoulder. "Perceptor?"

And Springer's rifle goes to his back, and...
Perceptor is out again. Crud. Springer steps over, giving him a light shake on the shoulder. "Hey, Perce?"
He glances back at Skyfire, running a quick diagnostic. "Nothing severe."

"The fake Convoy took off my arm and leg, but I got 'em back on." He smirks. "Nothin' a little courage couldn't fix!"
He looks at the Ultra Magnus head, frowning slightly. "Don't think we'll be puttin' you back together again, old sport..."

Lost is a rather apt description for Perceptor. He is lost. Lost in his thoughts, lost in his memories, lost in a rather deep morass of self-doubt and sorrow. So lost, in fact, that he barely registers the explosion, only belatedly raising an arm to shield his face, and then absently wiping his optics clean when he doesn't manage to cover in time.
"I killed him. Again," he whispers, hunching his shoulders away from Skyfire and Springer's touch. Optimus was trying to save him, and Perceptor shot him. That the blast played a part in saving the others from more harm does not occur to him. Only that he murdered Optimus Prime and, oddly, the others are not condemning him for it.
Not yet, at least.
Back together? Wait, the others are injured? Of course they're injured. They were busy fighting while he was wasting time by falling apart. Letting them down. Just like he let Prime down. Just like he let everyone down that day.
"I am unharmed," he finally replies. "Skyfire? Your damages?"

Skyfire looks concerned, yet a bit puzzled at the same time. "Killed who? I didn't see anyone that could be called truly functional here."
Skyfire is not First Aid or Tailpipe; mindless machines are just that to him. He frowns. "Cruel of them to use our own as drones against us. I'd think it a Decepticon trick, if I had not seen that alien probe again."
He wipes some of the mud off his shoulder, revealing the deep, ugly hole burned through it--a wound that Perceptor may find distressingly familiar in form. "The purple and black Seeker shot me with that big gray gunformer." Yes, you're talking to one of the few people in most universes who doesn't know Megatron on sight. "Joint's fused and/or blasted; I can't transform. The other damage is lighter, though I did take a few weaker shots through the other turbo-fan."

"The gun-former was Megatron. You're lucky he didn't hit anything vital, or we'd be walking home, more likely than not," Springer muses.
He gives Perceptor a concerned glance. "Don't go beating yourself up, Perceptor. They were just puppets, it seems.
Then Dai-Janku starts talking to the head in his hands, and Springer reaches over, snatching it away. "And cut that out. That's kinda creepy."

Dai-Janku meeps a bit when Ultra Magnus' head is removed from his grasp, then pouts slightly, slumping his shoulders. "Hey, that's not nice! Get your own!"
Though, he's soon distracted by the situation hitting him.
"...though...erm. Now that we're all alive and past that little nightmare...where am I? Last I recall, I was heading for the Galactic Defense Force HQ..."

No one truly alive? Just puppets? Did they not see how Optimus attempted to interject himself to save Perceptor from Megatron there at the last? An action which put himself in jeopardy and ultimately cost him his existence.
They did not see, or they do not comprehend. Neither do they have the luxury of time. There is no telling when another such attack may occur, and Skyfire is unable to transform, restricting their evacuation from the area. Skyfire's repairs take priority over Perceptor's distress.
There will be time enough to contemplate the day's events later. It would not hurt to speak with Kup, either.
"Skyfire, perhaps you might explain to Dai-Janku while I see to getting you operational once again?" he suggests quietly. "We should not linger here any longer than necessary. Springer, would you please see to salvaging several of the... the bodies for transport back? Beyond the raw materials we still require, I wish to study them to determine how their functions were animated in such a manner. Perhaps it might give some clue as to the purpose of our presence here."
He motions for Skyfire to find as stable a location as he is able and settle down so that Perceptor can reach the most vital areas for repair, adding in a much subdued tone, "I would be particularly grateful if you would retrieve Wheeljack. Please."

Skyfire can tell that Perceptor is deeply affected by this encounter--but he missed those sparks of self-aware rebellion by Optimus Prime. Dodging--or rather, failing to dodge--Megatron gunfire will do that. He winces at the mention of Wheeljack.
"I'm sorry, Perceptor... I couldn't let him tear you apart, though." He glances into the still water near where he'd been standing when the fight started; there's a glimmer of something large and pale laying in the mud.
"I think one of the drones that attacked us was a variant of... me. He fell right about there, Springer" Skyfire says, gesturing with his cannon, even as he sits down on the more-or-less dry causeway for Perceptor to work. "If he was, there might be some interchangeable parts for my shoulder and such-like."
"Dai-Janku, you've been pulled out of your reality and time stream and deposited on an abandoned terrestrial planet in another universe. Some force is pulling Transformers from multiple times and realities and bringing them here--you may well find people you know here, both friends and enemies. You'll also meet a lot of people you don't know, who may look and act rather strange compared to what you are used to. Don't worry about reporting back to base or whatever you were doing before--as far as we know, you're stuck here, and cut off from home," Skyfire says ruefully.
"Most realities have a common theme of Decepticons being bad guys and we Autobots being the good, decent people, no matter how odd we look, and we've mostly pulled together along those lines. There's a lot of odd subfactions that fall in with those groups: I've heard of Maximals and Mini-cons with the Autobots, and the Decepticons have Destrons, Predacons and Vehicons." No, Skyfire doesn't quite know that 'Destron' is another word for plain old Decepticon. He thinks they're another spice in the faction soup.
"Currently, Emirate Xaaron is the Autobot leader, with Rodimus Prime as his second-in-command. As far as I know, Starscream leads the Decepticons, with Shockwave as his second-in-command."
"As for ourselves, I'm Skyfire, Autobot scientist and explorer. I come from the same reality as Perceptor here, who I get the impression you know... or someone like him. We've found that names and personalities get repeated across realities quite a bit. I come from quite a bit earlier in time than Perceptor does, though--there was no war between Autobots and Decepticons when I was transported, and Starscream was a neutral scientist and a friend back then." Skyfire's voice hardens momentarily, then returns to his normal conversational tone. "I'm not the only person from back then. Springer is from a different reality than the two of us, though I hear he is very similar to the Springer Perceptor knows."
"Welcome to Gillanan III, Dai-Janku. The local civilization was moderately advanced, and apparently abandoned the planet about a year before our arrival, during the attack of a planet-sized planet-wrecking machine called Unicron. It destroyed the next world out, a robotic civilization."

Springer places the Magnus head on the ground, and gives Perceptor a nod, as he sets out to retrieving bodies, starting with what remains of Wheeljack, which is easy enough, given his size. Starting on the Jetfire, though....that's a little trickier, and leaves him working on wrenching it free of the muck.
This leaves him some time to think about Perceptor's words about Prime. Sure, Optimus knocked him down. That's why he's thinking he's not all there.
Then it starts flowing back that after it was done, Prime recieved a blast from Megatron, that...
...that may have been intended for Springer.
