Event Horizon sim room. Month 6, Week 1, Day 3. Open.
Rodimus Prime rolls into the sim room because he... likes driving, really. They have corridors made for driving, so why not take advantage of that? He's not here due to random chance, however - he has some free time, and saw that someone he wouldn't mind catching up with (as much as he can ever catch up with this someone) has some free time, and a quick check showed him in the sim room.
It's not that he hasn't spoken with Blurr at all since they left Pz-Zazz. Not in the least. Oh, there have been occasional exchanges of small-talk here and there. And it's not that he's been intentionally avoiding any deep subjects, either. It's just that extensive conversations with Blurr can be a bit... difficult to maintain for both parties, so it's easy to fall into a habit of small talk and not think much about it. Even this conversation may never go very deep, but if Rodimus has a free moment and his friend has a free moment, he may as well say "Hi," right?
Once inside the hard light simulation room, he transforms, pulls himself to his full height, and looks around. A beach, huh? It takes him a moment to actually find who he's looking for, primarily because the person he's looking for is moving rather quickly between two spots. Still, once he spots Blurr, he approaches the net and grins.
"Hey, Blurr, what's up?"

"Just taking some time to relax!" Blurr answers gaily as he bumps the volleyball up and over. Since he's playing against himself, he dashes to the other side of the net – going around, not under, because he wants to be fair about this – and sets the ball back into the air. He darts forward to bump it further along, and still closer to the net for the spike.
Given that as fast as he moves, the ball travels so much more slowly, he can move at a leisurely pace (for Blurr). He bolts around the pole again to counter his own spike, but since he takes a split second to grin at Rodimus, he overshoots. He digs in to brake himself and kicks up a thick spray of sand, but the stuff just doesn't offer very good traction, all things considered. He skids, then leaps forward in a last-ditch attempt to bump the ball up again before it touches the ground. He makes his save, but ends up sprawled prone with a heaping mouthful of sand for his efforts.
Nevertheless, he laughs it off, spitting out grit and propping himself up on one elbow so he can peer up up up at Rodimus.
"How about you?" he wonders, optics practically sparkling with the chuckles he stifles. "You getting in some down time or are you milling around when you should be getting downtime?"

"Sure, I've been relaxing!" Rodimus protests defensively. He then grins. "I just got my ranger-thief up to level seventy-six in 'Dragonarian Legends: The Uprising!'" Sure, Rodimus Prime is the Chosen One, the destroyer of Unicron, leader of the Autobots and veteran time-traveler, but his real accomplishment was getting that Racing Snail mount for his computer game character! That takes skill!
He walks over to Blurr and courses, but doesn't seem intent to help the other back up. Then he points at the ball. "I think you missed."

Blurr's grin turns lopsided, sarcastic, and the hand that isn't holding his head up off the sand goes to his hip. He'd look much less ridiculous standing.
"Miss? I didn't miss," he says with a hint of indignation. Then, abruptly, he is standing and brushing the sand off his windscreen and thighs. Satisfied that he's relatively dusted clean, both hands go to his hips. "I just outmanoeuvred myself, that's all, took advantage of my slip-up. Think that makes the score two and two for this set and it's the third set I've played. I asked Haywire to flip the scoreboard for me," and he gestures toward the lonely thing at one side of the net, still sitting on 0-0, "but he said he wanted to try tanning instead and I warned him tanning under a holographic sun might not work properly since it's holographic but he said sun is sun and he's tired of being pasty so he wants a tan."
If Rodimus looks, he might even spot the Nebulan some distance away down the beach, sprawled on a big teal and yellow beach towel with his armour in a disorganised heap to one side. Blurr just rolls his eyes for the vagaries of his partner and shrugs it off.
"Level seventy-six huh?"

Firebolt has made her way to the sim room, looking for something to do. She just got off a small shift where she was cleaning up some hallways, and the sim room is just the sort of thing for a good distraction after work. She approaches the room only to find that is on, so she enters and is very pleasantly surprised to find a beach!
"Whoa. This is pretty awesome," she says as she looks in, seeing the two in the room already, along with the beach volleyball stuff. "Mind if I join you?" she asks as she approaches Blurr and Rodimus, stopping for a moment to look down at a shell, interested in the fact that the sim room can get things down to the very littlest detail.

Rodimus rubs his chin thoughtfully, glancing ceilingward. "You know, I... don't know. I mean, technically, sunburn is damage and damage here isn't supposed to 'stick,' but I'm... not positive that works with the Nebulans." His optics open wide and he looks down at Blurr. "Let me know? If he does tan, we may want to keep the Nebulans out of training until we're sure it's safe for them."
He grins. "Yeah! Sevent- oh, hey, Firebolt!" He looks between her and Blurr. "I wasn't actually playing him, but... it seems to me the closest thing we can get to 'fair' is if Blurr is on both teams, if we are going to do that."

Blurr can't quite blanch at the thought of Haywire being seriously injured in a training exercise the way his partner can, but his bright silver face does seem to dull a little.
"Of course," he babbles fretfully, "I'll absolutely definitely tell you just in case it works though it probably won't work but in case it does work you'll be the first to know." And never before has he hoped quite so fervently that Haywire doesn't get what he wants. Firebolt provides a fine distraction from worrying and Blurr first grins at her, then looks slightly embarrassed as Rodimus explains the situation. "It's just like Rodimus said and he said it just as well as I could have but he did so I didn't have to. See I was playing against myself since there's nobody else to play against me that would be fair and I don't want to be unfair so I just set up a one-on-one game with myself."
He turns a fondly sour, teasing look over his shoulder in Haywire's direction.
"Only my scorekeeper ran off."

"On both teams? One on one with yourself?! How do you get traction on the sand! You must have some skills to pull that off," she says after looking over Blurr, as if trying to figure out his mastery of the speed force.
"I would love to try volleyball, but only if he's on both of our teams. Yea... That would make the most sense," she nods.

Rodimus nods as Blurr assures him that he'll be informed if Haywire gets sunburned. "All right, thanks," he answers, then he turns his attention to the issue at hand. A lot of the individual words fly right past him, but that's pretty normal when dealing with Blurr. Still, the gist is gotten - ah, Blurr was just agreeing with him. But Firebolt is up for a game with Blurr on both teams?
Rodimus barks an amused chuckle and turns his grin on Blurr. "How's that sound? Two on two, with you one of the two in both cases?" he asks the speedster.

Blurr considers. Putting him on both teams is the only fair way to do it. He grins at Rodimus and Firebolt – and that's an awkward name, he thinks – and takes a half-step back, resting his hands on his hips.
"All right I'll be back in a flash!" he announces and dashes off to retrieve the ball he failed to return only moments ago. He's in place again almost immediately, even before the sand he stirred up in his departure has had a chance to settle, and bouncing the ball in one hand. He's just that fast, Firebolt; the only thing that could slow him down is a lack of friction and sand offers more than enough friction to keep him going. He grins at them both, optics bright with challenge and good cheer. "So! First to five points wins or best two of three games?"
Want to keep score now? he wonders silently.
You done playing with yourself? comes the groggy reply, followed by a snicker.

"Well, let's see how first to five works, yea?" Firebolt puts her two cents in, "Then we can maybe do more because I bet this is gonna be really fun. Ok, well, I hope it's gonna be fun."
She takes her position on one side, while putting her fists together and practicing a few bump motions.

"Five sounds good," Rodimus answers cheerfully, moving to the side of the net opposite of Firebolt and grinning when Blurr retrieves the ball in a, well, a blur. He rotates his shoulders back, first his right, then his left, in a way that he suggests ball and socket joints that his original toy never had. But then, if old school Transformers were limited to the movements their toys were capable of, the cartoon would have been a lot less interesting.
(Or more. Depending on what you're into.)
"Hey, Blurr, why don't you go ahead and toss it to Firebolt? Let her get first serve?"

Blurr could ramble on in the affirmative again, as he is ever wont to reiterate himself and ensure the point is driven home; he just nods and turns a winning smile on Firebolt, then flips the ball to her with a casual motion.
"Here you go!" He'll wait until the serve is airborne to move.

Firebolt nods, looking over at Rodimus and hmming for just a second before she tosses the ball up with her left hand and hits it with her right for the first serve of the game. None too fast but not slow either. It's not like she's any sort of pro at this!
"Yea! Here we go!" She says while serving.

As luck would have it, the ball heads more or less in Rodimus's direction, something Rodimus intends to take advantage of, since he's pretty sure that it won't be long before the balls all belong to Blurr, always and forever until the end of time. He dives forward and brings his hands up, hitting it from beneath to bounce it back towards the other side. So which side of the net is Blurr on at the moment, anyway?
(Probably both.)
