Dinobot really only said it to goad Hook, but if Ultra Magnus wants to have a serious discussion on the matter . . . "Important decisions are rarely simple." Of course, in his case, it was remarkably simple. Which just makes him realize how horrible what's been done to Hook's head is. For a moment, Hook isn't an enemy prisoner, but a fellow traveler, adrift in wherever the Pit they are.
Then he realizes that's the sort of sappy slag someone sparked as a Maximal would think, and bares his teeth at his own vapidity.
"Well?"

It wasn't a decision for Hook at all. He really had no choice, not even the option of dying rather than defecting.
Hook refuses to dwell on his own private existential horror, however. Instead, he finally grants his timestamp, which puts him somewhat after the events of B.O.T. (January 9, 1986) but prior to the assault on Autobot City.
He can't hope that the prosecution are idiots, that they won't find out. Hook has to prepare for the worst.

"Thank you," Magnus says, sincerely. The date means nothing to him – it might as well be in some of that indecipherable ancient script found in parts of the catacombs – but at least they have it. Assuming Hook didn't falsify it; he's been oddly reticent until just now, after all.
//Do you suppose it's a lie?// Magnus asks Dinobot on a tight band. //Or do you think he's being honest with us on this one?//

Fortunately, Dinobot has long studied military history, as he will remind anyone who gets anywhere near the subject. //He's difficult to read, but that date would put him right in the middle of the war on Earth. Hn, well before Unicron attacked Cybertron, though. We won't have to worry about defending him for having consorted with Quintessons, I believe.//
"Thank you, Hook," he says out loud. "If there is any other information you wish to volunteer, now would be the time." If not, he supposes they can move on to how they're going to plead.

"Nothing that I wish to," Hook replies, crossing his arms. He still doesn't feel quite right, but he's feeling better. Hook shrugs, "Question me if you want. Though I suppose I should point out that I haven't done anything here that even you Autobots would find offensive, unless you count a combat engineer following orders as offensive, and as for what I did back home... you'll never know for sure, unless you can pull the memories out of my head."
Can they? Hook looks at them curiously.

Skipping Magnus due to time-out.
"The prosecution is sure to raise the issue of every act you may have committed, regardless of whether they know for sure. Knowing what you have an have not actually done will allow us to prepare a defense," Dinobot snarls.
"And I'm not an Autobot," he adds as an afterthought. He's a Predacon Maximal.
"You wish to plead not guilty, then?"

Dinobot has quite the knack for dialogue where Magnus can be described only as tongue-tied. Hook's reticence makes him wonder how much the Constructicon actually wants to be found anything but guilty. Perhaps it's a passive protest at the notion of the trial.
OOC: Probably a good idea for Magnus to go skippable until he actually has something to contribute.

Hook leans back and admits, "Well. I've tried to blow up a planet or two. I, personally, don't see what the problem is with that. I was under orders. You Autobots and Maximals tend to get snippy about re-arranging stellar geometry, however."
Hook shrugs.
"I think everything else pales compared to that, under your strange excuse for an ethical system. You'll have to detail for me what you consider a 'crime' before I can say if I've done it or not."

Dinobot grimaces when Hook mentions blowing up planets. A coward's weapon. A true warrior faces his foe in battle, he doesn't destroy him from orbit.
"I take it these were inhabited planets? With non-combatants on them?"

"With inconsequential fleshbags on them," Hook corrects, studying his fingers. He does not and cannot understand why Autobots and Maximals care about such things.

Dinobot facepalms. "Are we talking about Earth?" He doesn't really care much for inconsequential fleshbags, classical literature aside, but having tried to blow up that particular planet is not going to help Hook's case.

Magnus gives the current topic a dubious look and shifts his weight uncomfortably; the humans are something of a non-issue with him when they aren't being used as hostages for some reason or another. After all, they have no place in the war and being dragged into it unknowingly is no fault of their own. He even defended them when Blitzwing tried to make their lives leverage against the fugitive Autobots.
He doesn't quite understand the preoccupation with becoming their especial guardians, however. There are so many races and planets that don't deserve to be caught in the conflict; what makes humans so much more worth protecting?
"If it is Earth," he murmurs, "it could be… problematic." Or perhaps they'll luck out and the jury won't be so passionately inclined to human bias.
OOC: Still skippable.

"Yes, why? It is a rocky planet much like any other. Scavenger could give you the minutiae, but you wouldn't want them," Hook answers.
He turns a sharp gaze to Ultra Magnus and asks, "Why would that be problematic?"

"Many Autobots have a soft spot for humans. It could cause the jury to rule based on emotion if when it comes up." Dinobot sighs. "Dare I ask what methods were to be used in these attempted . . . planeticides?"

"Ridiculous," Hook says flatly, to the one who would be humanity's saviour. "I assisted on the construction of solar needle. You see, it destroys suns and harvests the energy released. You just spacebridge out before the rest of the solar system is destroyed in the planet."
So more solarcide than planetcide. The planetcide is incidental.
"The other time, I wasn't actually trying to blow up Earth. The Autobots... kidnapped us," Hook fairly spits, fixing a hateful gaze at Ultra Magnus in particular, "when we were working on a drill. Without me on site to keep careful watch, of course it went haywire. Since we were on the planet, we formed Devastator, stopped the runaway core drill, and saved Earth."
If Hook wasn't on Earth, he wouldn't have bothered, obviously.
