"The solar needle is rather damning, especially when you could have built solar panels instead." Seriously, Hook, why not try building a Dyson sphere? All the cool civilizations are doing it. "But the second incident you actually prevented the Earth from being destroyed. Why did the Autobots kidnap you?" he asks.

"Solar panels are much more time inefficient," Hook sniffs.
He freezes when Dinobot asks him to go into more details about the events of the Core. Hook rocks back and forth a bit and is clearly uncomfortable as he hedges, "It wasn't... exactly kidnapping. I hate to be inexact. I went with them... willingly. My will was just... different at that moment, because, uhm... well... you see, the Autobots put a device on me that altered my will."
Hook is rather delicately trying to say that the Autobots brainwashed him, and that's why he wasn't paying attention to the drill.

Dinobot just gapes open-mouthed at Hook for a moment before throwing his hands up and shouting. "Primus, Hook, how did you have time to commit your alleged crimes in between all the brainwashing!" The raptor calms himself, rubbing the front of his helmet. "Hnng. You still haven't said why the Autobots did this. Did they simply wish to deprive Megatron of you or did they have some specific construction project of their own?"
If only Megatron was on trial for brainwashing the Constructicons, Dinobot's job would be much easier. He could just point out that the Autobots did the same thing.

Hook rubs his chin and admits, "The Autobots did make me work in their medical ward. I am unaware if they had any greater goals. The Decepticons took me back."
He smiles.

"Were the other Constructicons subverted as well?" Dinobot asks. He's honestly just curious at this point. If he'd captured them, he'd have them form Devastator and tear slag up at Decepticon HQ, not put them to work in sick bay. It seems a waste.

"I suppose you could call it that," Hook replies, looking displeased by Dinobot's word choice of 'subverted'. He crosses his arms and glares coolly.

Just as Dinobot thought. Typical soft-sparked Autobot nonsense. They stole a combiner team and didn't use them in battle. Stupid.
"What would you do if you had to face Long Haul on the field of battle?" the raptor growls. He hopes to use this line of questioning at the trial, and wants to feel it out now. "Hnn, I realize this must be a difficult topic for you," he adds reluctantly.

"Take him home with me," Hook replies, staring at Dinobot, as if this is the most obvious thing in the world. He ignores Dinobot's attempt at 'niceness'.

"What if your orders were to terminate him? Would you still attempt to keep Long Haul alive at the cost of your career?" Dinobot asks. If Hook says yes, that means (to Dinobot, anyway) that despite having been brainwashed, he's still basically the same person he was when he was an Autobot. Which is important.

Hook stares at Dinobot and replies slowly, "Those orders would be asinine. I wouldn't obey them. In fact... why do you think Devastator hasn't killed Omega Supreme yet? It isn't for lack of capacity. Devastator could obliterate Omega Supreme, if we put our minds to it."
They, as they stated in the cartoon, wish to have their old friend back. As a Decepticon.

Dinobot gives a predatory smile. "So what was done to you hasn't turned you into a new person, some sort of emotionless monster who can only obey orders. We can use that," he says, nodding. It's a shame they're on opposite sides, the raptor is starting to like Hook, or at least respect him.

Hook hopes. He's acted against Megatron before, like in 'Triple Takeover', though he didn't directly act against Megatron then, and it wasn't like Megatron had explicitly ordered them, 'do not build Blitzwing a highway maze'.
Hook insists, "I am the same person I have always been. I picked a side in a war. Most do."
They need to fight/cause crime.

"You had a side picked for you, but that's immaterial," Dinobot responds, nodding. "I think I've got enough material here to work with. Ultra Magnus?" he says, inclining his head respectfully to the larger Transformer.
Dinobot would be down with being buddy cops or something with Hook. They would just need to come up with catchy names, like 'Crane and and the Fang-man,' or something. Dinobot will ride around in Hook's cab and then leap out and stab perps. It will be great.

Hook glares viciously at Dinobot for that remark. He would have been evil, anyway, even without the robo-smasher! He is green and purple. Those are evil colours. If Hook wanted to be good, he would have been orange. He gives Ultra Magnus a withering considering look, his expression asking, Well? even if he can't be bothered to say it out loud.

OOC: Sorry; this came up as read on my display and I didn't realise it wasn't actually read.
"…I've worked with less," Magnus eventually answers. He doesn't add that he usually worked on battlefields, not in courtrooms, and that he isn't too terribly certain of his tactics transitioning well. He meets Hook's glare with a tired but otherwise neutral expression and does so almost long enough for it to be rude, then eases his weight from his resting stance.
