I'm trying to research the background for a possible toy/bio-only Armada character. I need some links to good summaries of the back history of Armada continuity, particularly Dreamwave continuity.
I.e., what's the history of Armada Cybertron according to Dreamwave? What are the differences between DW Armada and cartoon Armada/UTC continuity, especially in the earlier stages?
(Hypothetical character's pull-point would be before Unicron's attack, assuming DW had one of those).
I tried TF Wiki, but I either missed the important pages, or they really have nothing on DW Armada continuity besides a list of comics with no plot synopses.
If anyone can help me on this, I'd appreciate it.

Dreamwave Armada continuity...um...
For starters, it's way different from 'toon Armada in every way except the basics. Starscream adheres to the basic Starscream cliche instead of being a Dinobot wannabe in the angst department, Wheeljack lacks any backstory at all, etc. Most of the characters barely get any characterization beyond 'this guy's evil and nutty, this guy's evil but sane, this guy's evil and dumb, this guy's good but a rough sort', your basic two dimensional 'bots and 'cons. So toss most of the cartoon characterization out the window if you're gonna be talking about canon ones.
The Mini-Cons are fully sentient and can talk, and their escape from Cybertron was of their own design instead of everyone packing them on a ship and sending them through a big portal. The actual history of Cybertron isn't gone into much, although I think DW Energon goes into it in a bit more depth. (And I've only read Volume Two once, so I might be missing something) After the big Mini-Con evacuation, Megatron and the Decepticons used the remaining Mini-Cons to take over Cybertron and the Autobots went into hiding for about a million years until the Mini-Con signal got activated and everyone important hauled aft over to Earth.

I've got a fairly good collection of DW Armada comics, and the Transformers magazine-comic-thing that I've been getting in my comic shop haul recently has included Dreamwave Armada issues in it.
The important Cybertron stuff ought to be in the first few issues, which I think I can cobble together. Want me to bring these up for Thanksgiving?

Yes, please. Particularly the Armada MTMTE guides.
Hmm, where characterization is flat as opposed to contradicted, any reason not to assume cartoon characterizations as far as 'what my guy would know about these guys'?

There are also some Armada comics you can read for free on Hasbro's website if you'd like. Something to tide you over until you get the rest of them.

Hmm, where characterization is flat as opposed to contradicted, any reason not to assume cartoon characterizations as far as 'what my guy would know about these guys'? The trouble there is that the bios often don't match the comics or the cartoons completely. I've got all the Armada MTMTEs, though, if you need a reference. If the characterization is not specifically contrary to comics nature...then yeah, I suppose you can assume that for characters who barely get five lines.
