Death's Head (I'm new, Hi)

I hope this is in the right place, I'd feel quite embarrassed if it wasn't. First off, allow me to introduce myself, I'm waldgrave [For now] and I have been considering joining after a certain character who originated in Transformers UK caught my eye and ever since they've been one of my favorite characters. I've rped for quite a considerable time, and while at first I thought the board looked plain, I have to admit the community here looks awesome and the board scheme has admittedly grown on me.

Ahem, so, anyone familiar with this character should be able to recall atleast some of his appearances but here's the thing: Is he allowed in this particular universe? Will I be able to play my favorite cosmic, time-travelling, Bount- I mean, Freelance Peacekeeping Agent here? I know it's a stretch, but others that I've found that interest me - I have difficulty finding any information about them and the comics I do hunt down they don't have many lines: Take Whirl for instance [Or is he dead in this continuuity?]. I admit I'm not very experienced with the Transformers Franchise outside of Beast Wars, a little bit of Beast Machines, and a little bit of G1.

As per our FAQ:

1.5 Do you allow non-Transformer robots who appeared in one of the continuities (example: Death's Head) or other non-Transformer characters who appeared in a Transformers continuity (example: Spider-Man)?

No. Our theme is strictly Transformers. As such, no non-Transformer characters will be allowed. Some consideration may be given to non-transforming robots that are considered to be part of the Transformers species, such as a G1 cartoon Cybertronian from the period before transformation was invented; this would take an exceptional application, though.

Similarly, we do not allow the organic *master partners in without their associated Transformer. For example, you cannot apply for Daniel as Arcee's head without also applying for Arcee.

Those are canon characters that have already been brought in the game, but are no longer played - their application is a bit shorter than a completely 'fresh' character.

Death's Head also has a disadvantage of being excessively overpowered (he could one-on-one against Rodimus Prime or even Galvatron, if you'll recall, and Marvel Galvatron was pretty much like unto a god), so even if he weren't already expressly forbidden, he's not one we'd grant to a first time player and would be extremely difficult to get approved as anything besides a plot character otherwise.

The good news is, due to the nature of our theme, if you're familiar with even one series you don't even need to know about the rest. Your character can gain that knowledge through interactions. What is happening is that characters are being 'pulled' from various points in the different canon Transformers continuities, so it makes sense that a newly arriving character would really only know their own universe, anyway. Further, that means that most of canon is available (outside of the restrictions listed on the above pages), even for characters that die at some point or another in canon. Whirl, for example, is playable as long as you 'pull' him from a point where he's not dead! Many characters really don't have a whole lot of lines in canon, which, on the up side, means that you, the player, get to fill in the blanks and flesh out their personalities. Also, while the old comics can be tricky to come by, the entire Marvel run (including the UK comics) is actually out there scanned in - ask around about what you're interested in, specifically, and you may be able to get someone to shoot you an email with the relevant scans. I can't make any promises on that one, though.

As a side note, this place really doesn't do unallied characters very well. Being aligned with one faction or another carries with it a good deal of built in role-play (not to mention a way to get around when the story moves from one planet to another). If it's the bounty hunter aspect you're interested in, there's Devcon ( tfwiki.net/wiki/Devcon ), Axer ( www.tfu.info/1990/Decepticon/Axer/axer.htm ), or Lockdown ( tfwiki.net/wiki/Lockdown_%28Animated%29 ) right off the top of my head (Well, Xaaron suggested those three, anyway). By the way, the wiki and tfu.info that I linked are excellent general Transformers resources, as is NTFA.net's Universe profiles for the G1 Marvel versions of characters ( www.ntfa.net/universe/english/index.php?act=intro&cat=FH ). Beast Wars characters are also fine, if any of them grab your interest, as is Beast Machines.

Ah, well that's a shame, I was kinda looking forward to playing Death's Head but perhaps I shall play him on a more Marvel based board, yes? Even if were any consolation, Death's Head didn't deal any significant damage to Galvatron and got his arm ripped off in the process. However, anyways I have nontheless scouted other possibilities and actually I must have missed Axer somehow but he has a cool backstory, now only if he had an Axe he would be perfect!

Actually, it's more that it takes all three of us to review an app, and that means finding 2-4 hours per app when all three of us can converge. Given that I work in specialty retail as a manager, the month of December is pretty much a no-go as far as doing that. Couple that with a recent tragedy on my end, and well- we are pretty backed up with apps and upgrade requests. Like I said, we'll get to it as soon as possible.
