Month 2, Week 2, Day 4. Event Horizon lounge. Open.
It took a day for Slingshot to build a bridge and get over his issues with his new gestalt. He still doesn't really like any of 'em, except Long Haul, but what the hey. It's not like he liked all the other Aerialbots all the time either. (Except he'd trust them with his life, and he's not sure he'd trust any of these guys that far.)
Now, though, he's got Jetfire (because the bits of his mind that remember Skydive and Silverbolt say he need to at least not want to punch his teammates all the time), and he's looking for Bluestreak. Because, what the heck, finding out what Hook was blathering about can't be more boring than rock-watch.
OOC: Mention of Jetfire with player permission.

Jetfire isn't entirely sure why he's going along with Slingshot. The jet doesn't seem to like him much, and he's not sure he likes Slingshot too much either! He guesses he just has a weakness for people coming up to him and demanding authoritatively that he do things. Also he didn't have anyone to play video games with at the time and was feeling kind of lonely.
The circumstances do make it a pretty awkward search for Bluestreak, though, and Jetfire keeps shooting Slingshot sideways glances, not sure what exactly to say.

Bluestreak will be found in the forward observation lounge, sitting down with a data pad on the table in front of him. He alternates staring out at the stars and pondering whatever is on the datapad; every so often he prods it with a stylus.
He glances up when Slingshot and Jetfire enter. "Hi, guys, what's up?"

"Hey." Slingshot stalks over, stopping a few feet away and folding his arms across his chest. He glowers, but this is about the default expression on the Aerialbot. "Hook says you know something about the Earth's core."

"Hello Bluestreak!" Jetfire greets, flopping down on a nearby couch. To the question of 'what's up', he simply looks pointedly at Slingshot and shrugs.
It's probably a very good thing, Jetfire thinks, that Slingshot isn't part of their current Elite Guard.

Bluestreak carefully puts his datapad and stylus down and looks at Slingshot quizzically. "Why would Hook mention me about the Earth's core? I mean, I'm a sniper, not a geologist, and I know about what you know, probably, unless you've already looked it up on that Wiki thing. In fact, Hook should know quite a lot about the Earth's core, since he and the rest of the Constructicons tried to drill into it for some plan of Megatron's. That one was a real mess."

You could not pay Slingshot enough to be in the same room with Sentinel Prime, much less on the same special team.
"That. That's what he meant." He relaxes a little, catching a stool with his foot and dragging it over so he can sit down. "What happened?"

Well, not that Sentinel Prime would be much of an obstacle at the moment, being rather painfully... not alive. But Jetfire tries not to think about that.
He perks up a bit. "Yes, please to tell! This is story of your Great War, yes?"

"If by 'Great War' you include the part that took place on Earth in the last bit of their 20th century, yes," Bluestreak says, nodding. "I think it should be distinct from the part that happened four million years ago, even if we did take a nap for all that time and it was just like yesterday."
"Megatron was always coming up with one plan or another to get more energy, and this time he had the Constructicons drilling into the Earth's core to tap all its energy, or something like that. Sunstreaker spotted them because the river was empty--they'd rerouted it for coolant and to hide their cave, so we found them and Wheeljack figured out it would blow up or something if they actually drilled that deep, so we tried to stop them, only Devastator was too strong. He batted Sunstreaker around like he was a ping-pong ball!"
Most people would pause for breath or at least to allow someone else to get a word in edgewise. Bluestreak isn't most people. "Wheeljack had a secret weapon he'd been working on, though, and he convinced Optimus Prime to let him try it out on Devastator. That was the Dominator Disks--see, they didn't do anything by themselves, on one robot, but when you hook one on to each Constructicon, they activated when they formed Devastator and let Wheeljack take control of Devastator. I was one of the team that ambushed the Constructicons and planted the disk on one while we were fighting, so I got briefed on all that."
"So Wheeljack took control of Devastator, and Prime--that's our Optimus Prime, Slingshot, you remember him--ordered him to attach the Decepticons. He did, and sealed them in the cave, and put the river back, and we figured that was it, we could mop up later--only Megatron fooled us! He was able to keep the drilling going on, and when we figured it out and went back after him--Megatron took back control of Devastator! He had figured out the weakness that Wheeljack used to control Devastator, and built a counter to it. Wheeljack tried to boost the power to take control back, but that about fried Devastator's logic circuits, and he went berserk! Everybody got thrashed, and Megatron's emergency escape route--a space bridge, was knocked out, and the drill's console was busted. Then the drill started causing the core to erupt or something and things were looking really bad for everyone--"
Bluestreak actually pauses for a moment and lowers his voice. "Megatron had to actually cooperate with Optimus Prime. He gave his controller to Wheeljack, and Wheeljack somehow used it to disable the Dominator Disks, and ole Megs could give Devastator orders like normal to stop the drill. I don't like Decepticons, and I never will, but I have to admit the Constructicons, with no one controlling them, had the drop-forged bearings to dig down and stop the drill head themselves, when the eruptions could have blown them up at any time. Megs ran away like he usually does when he's losing. Oh, and Starscream was whining the whole time."

Slingshot's mun sometimes forgets when things are happening in relation to each other. The point still stands.
Slingshot leans forward at the mention of 'Dominator Disks'. As Bluestreak explains how they work, his optic-band brightens more and more. It's almost white by the time Bluestreak pauses for breath.
"Optimus Prime," he says, very slowly, very carefully, while his spinning turbines give lie to his forced calm, "had a way to control a gestalt."

Jetfire's optics cycle slowly for a moment. That's a lot of story told pretty quickly to process! Unlike Slingshot, Jetfire doesn't care much about the Dominator Disks.
"Is good thing you are stopping planet core from erupting!" At least an erupting core sounds pretty back to him. "Well, that Constructicons are stopping it. Perhaps they are not so bad of badness-bots."

Bluestreak gives Slingshot a quizzical look. "No, Wheeljack did, but Megatron figured out a counter, so it was useless in the long run."
The gray and white Autobot's expression turned cold. "They are--were-- 'badness-bots'. They only stopped the core drill because they were stuck on the planet with us and would have been destroyed, too. Look at the records of Hook's trial for some of the stuff they did." Uncharacteristically, Bluestreak says nothing more, yet.

"Only if Optimus was trying to control a Decepticon gestalt," Slingshot says darkly. He shoves back from the table, knocking the stool over. It clatters to the ground as he makes for the door.
His hands are clenched into fists to keep them from shaking.

Jetfire nods soberly at Bluestreak. "Of course. Even evil is doing good when it is-" He stops short when Slingshot shoves to his feet and stomps away, staring after him in surprise.

Bluestreak stands up, looking confused. "Slingshot? What's wrong? And what else would it be useful for?"
Bluestreak is genuinely puzzled; it would never occur to him to even think of his Optimus Prime using mind-control devices on Autobots. Optimus Prime just wasn't that kind of mech. Not to Bluestreak.
