"Pity it didn't work," Starscream replies as he straightens up. He's going to just carry Shockwave in his hand instead of putting him in his cockpit or on his shoulder. He'd rather not have him that close to his vitals. No telling what sort of devices he has in his pockets. Her pockets?
"Should I refer to you in the masculine or the feminine?" May as well get that out of the way now while they're alone, rather than let the grunts laugh over it.
OOC: I would like one or two more rounds, please?

OOC: Certainly! I'm game!
"At the moment I self-identify female, and humans tend to place great import on pronouns matching one's exterior trappings. I have no care one way or another but utilizing the feminine pronoun set will be less confusing."
She keeps her balance well despite the rocking motion caused by Starscream's movements. "Was he terribly difficult, then?"
Victoria is referring to Scourge, of course.

Starscream continues his progress through the facility, back out the way he came in. He's silent a while before responding.
"You've groomed him well for command, but he's still very young. Impulsive. He has much of Megatron in him. He wants what he wants now and he's willing to go through anyone to get it. Some of his goals are frighteningly overzealous, but . . ." Starscream trails off and shrugs the shoulder that is not attached to the hand with Shockwave in it. Being a bit crazy comes with being Decepticon leader. "He commands the fear of both his subordinates and his enemies. He just lacks the patience to use his cunning properly."
Clio managed to get the machinery working properly before disappearing, so the docking bay housing the Decepticon shuttle is free of water when Starscream steps into it and transmits the signal to unlock the shuttle.

Victoria nods at Starscream's explanations. "Much of Megatron, but some of Optimus as well. Both of them are stubborn, impulsive, short-sighted individuals. They will fight and grapple and curse but each would be lost without their opposite."
"Scourge will learn that a leader needs more than strength , or he will die. Such is our way."
She casts a sidelong look at Starscream as they enter the docking bay. "You did not try to replace him." Statement, not question.

"I am not young and impulsive. Scourge could easily defeat me in a straight fight. I bided my time. I waited for an opportunity. I didn't expect it to happen quite like this," he replies as he transmits the signal to open the shuttle and steps in, looking around for Clio.
He was really hoping he'd find her.

Victoria notes the way Starscream looks about the shuttle. She frowns.
"You expected someone to still be here. That there is not is... worrisome." Victoria has had many years to consider the vast power held within the Well. Still, certainly that is not possible.
"Starscream, contact whomever you left in charge of Ship." Yes, it's an order.

It's cute how Shockwave thinks she can give Starscream orders.
"Clio remained aboard the shuttle," he says worriedly, stalking into the cockpit and setting Shockwave down on the console as he seats himself in the pilot chair and activates the radio.
//Starscream to all Decepticons. Sound off with your designation, status, and current location.//

Starscream still did what she wanted though, didn't he?
Victoria paces back and forth, hands clasped behind her back. She is obviously agitated, though the visible signs are much less than they would be with a normal human. Still, even showing a little outward emotion is odd for Shockwave.
"Surely the affect could not have carried beyond the immediate area," she muses aloud, "But the Well is this planet's heart, its soul. It does not think it reacts. Could it have decided that to keep itself safe, it must neutralize not just the immediate threat, but future ones as well?"
This does not explain why Starscream was spared, but that can be conjectured upon later. Victoria stops her pacing and stares expectantly at the jet. She does not have the means to listen in on the Decepticon radio at the moment.

The jetformer slumps back in the pilot chair, optics wide as he adjusts to a paradigm shift in his reality.
"Rook, Fracture, Lyzack, and Crankcase appear to be all we have left," he says quietly.
Starscream growls and starts powering-up the shuttle, preparing to take off. "Once we arrive back on Ship and brief the troops, I'll make a flyby of the Event Horizon. That should give us some small insight into whether the Autobots are in a similar situation.
If he doesn't get blasted into oblivion by point-defense guns, they're probably running with a skeleton crew too.
The shuttle hums as its engines warm up and it backs slowly out of the docking bay.

That was not what Victoria wanted to hear. She manages to not show exactly how much that news upsets her, but only just.
"You have had some new additions," she finally says.
She eyes Starscream as he pilots the shuttle. Periodically, she may offer some helpful advice. Just because Starscream is a jet does not mean he can fly a shuttle.
OOC: Shall we go crash the Gone, but Whither? thread?
