We have come up with a consistent and corrected speed scale! Hooray!
We now have a hard scale for determining what category a character falls under, as follows:
0-50 mph : Slow 50-150 mph : Average 150-800 mph : Fast 800-25000 mph : Zoom! 25000+ mph : Poof!
Most robots, in robot mode, will assumed to be Slow under this new system, rather than Average, unless reason is provided to set them as otherwise (Blurr, for example). Most robots with robot-mode flight will assumed to be Average, but that is flying speed, not speed on the ground. If a character has a top speed listed somewhere in a tech spec or write-up, it will be included in parenthesis, but it is not required for an OC or someone who doesn't have this information available to include exact numbers.
For the record, the general benchmarks are as follows:
Slow-to-Average: Mostly arbitrary
Average-to-Fast: Set just low enough to let the sports cars be Fast, high enough to keep folks like Long Haul and Kup out of that category. Currently Nightbeat, at 620 mph groundspeed, is almost without a doubt our fastest car.
Fast-to-Zoom: A rounded approximation of the speed of sound. Generally speaking, anything that can hit a mach gets Zoom!
Zoom-to-Poof!: A rounded approximation of escape velocity on Earth.
Wiki entries have already been adjusted to reflect the new system, and when the FAQ is finished, it will be included in the character stat conversion section.
