"So, when are we going to start this Interim period you guys keep talking about?"
Actually... now.
The way it works is like this: there are some threads that have to be played out a bit longer, as they are still resolving important and semi-important character issues. These threads will obviously continue on. However, for any thread that feels to the participants as nothing more than 'busy work,' the posters in that thread are free to declare themselves faded to off-screen while accomplishing their tasks. Those people are then in Interim, and are free to arrange Interim-based RP scenes (either of the sorts listed, or anything else they'd like to accomplish) as they see fit. Remember that both factions will be in a heavy repair, exploration, and construction period, so if anyone just wants to, for example, have a chat between two characters and are looking for some sort of action to serve as general backdrop, you can keep those in mind. Maybe both characters are helping to build a segment of base, but because the techs can't be everywhere at once, have too little guidance, and chaos erupts! Or things go smoothly and they have an interesting talk. Maybe they're just scouting the area around base. Maybe there's even a random chance encounter between factions. The only thing we ask is that you wait until your character is officially in Interim before you start these scenes, and remember that ICly, the stuff you're doing is happening at a later time period than the pre-Interim wrap-up scenes.
Even in a continuing thread, if an individual participant feels they have nothing further of significance to contribute and that they are only engaging in IC busy-work (even IC-repair busy-work), they're free to make an OOC note to the effect that they are continuing on in a similar manner, and then declare themselves in Interim.
As a quick side note, because the Autobots are doing a vote, we may have to have another mass Autobot scene during the Interim period to hash that out. Or we can just do a quick OOC poll on what everyone thinks their character is likely to vote, and just run with the results. Whatever you guys prefer.
