Three things regarding applications for the foreseeable future. I'll be adding the former to the Wiki next time I do Wiki updates.
1) Until the DZ-3 plot gets started, the admin will not be granting any more alternate characters to our current players. This is to avoid the slow-down of more introductions and interviews. If you submit an application between now and DZ-3 for another character, your application will not be reviewed until DZ-3 begins.
2) We will not be accepting any more Autobot spy-types for the foreseeable future. Please do not submit applications for them. No matter how good they are, we don't want any more right now.
3) No more leader characters for the foreseeable future unless you can explain how they fit into the existing hierarchy.
We would really like some low-to-mid-range combatants on the both sides, though.

Melee-focused characters are now considered overdone, and applications for them will be judged more harshly. Now, most combatants from militaristic timeframes are at least competent in melee, but getting even above 'Average' without a good justification will become harder. Veteran or higher will be extremely difficult to swing. This applies to both FCs and OCs, although more so for OCs, as FCs already have their combat-focus established in canon.

Added to the list of character concepts that are overdone: Original Characters who were once part of a special or secret project of some sort that grants them unusual abilities or special technology. Of only 12 OCs in the game, we have at least 2.5 that fall under this category and another one under review. One gets the impression that you can't throw a rock on Cybertron without hitting a base that houses a top secret special project.
This does not mean that special powers themselves are disallowed, although they will always call for a better quality application than normal. Keep in mind that a very large number of G1 Transformers have superpowers of some sort. We're not assuming that every one of those guys were part of some sort of special project in their background.
Finally, we would like to remind players that the most interesting thing about an OC should not be its background. It should be its personality. Because we are now in an alternate universe, a characters' past will rarely come into play. Their personality should come into play in every post they make. Make that your focus. Tell us about how interesting your character is, not how interesting the stuff that happened to them before the game started was.
