Yup, that'd be him.

I was half expecting it'd be an updated version based on a newer toy...

I wouldn't mind having one made from Universe 2.0 Silverbolt. Just a head remold, and we're good. And do the same for Spinister with Energon Bulkhead, and maybe some of the Mini-Cons that turn into guns...

Or stick with smaller-sized moulds and redeco the Energon combiner limbs (Blackout/Stormcloud for Spinister and Treadshot/Windrazor for Needlenose). Based on that, you could also use the Kickback/Blight mould for Quake.
I reckon you could get a decent Stranglehold out of the TM2/Armada Rhinox mould as well. In fact, I'm quite tempted by that one, and I happen to have an Armada Rhinox going spare. He could go well with my Carnivac...

Interesting ideas, though that does kinda nix the idea of using the Mini-cons for Targetmasters.

Not really. As long as you use ones that can actually be hand-held, like Armada Prowl and Over-Run for example, you're golden - and I'm assuming you had that in mind anyway, since Silverbolt at least doesn't even have Minicon pegs, and Bulkhead only has one on his tail rotor. The Scout-sized combiner guys still have 5mm peg holes in their hands, and as a bonus they've also got them in their wings (in the same respective places as Spinister and Needlenose themselves)...

I know that they still have the 5mm pegs, but then they're kinda really out of scale. Sort of. I'm normally not a stickler for scale, but the difference in using the ones I mentioned and the ones you did is kinda like picking up Classics Megatron as a gun, and trying to pick up a medium-sized dog and use for a gun. Granted, they're robots, stronger, doesn't really matter, etc. I'd say it looks silly, but we're talking about robots who use cyborg humanoids that bend over and fart ordinance as weapons against other robots. Short version - not discounting the use of the scout guys, I just think the bigger ones look better.

I see your point. Although it may be partially mooted by the fact there are very few Minicons who can transform into hand-held weapons anyway; offhand I count Over-Run, Rollout and Prowl, plus the Japanese-only retools of Firebot and Makeshift. And Sky Blast if you really stretch it. I've done kitbashes based on Terradive, Safeguard and Liftor, and they all make decent guns, too.
