Day 25, open thread on the Event Horizon.
------
Springer is kicked back in one of the open lounging areas, near the Autobots' main entertainment center. He's got a datapad, reviewing various things in the database like a good spysecond-in-command.
It's kind of a pity that these other Autobots are so misguided - they're really nice 'bots. It's gonna suck whenever he has to do...whatever it is that Shockwave's gonna want him to do.

Ah, but what about the guy who's a dirty rebel even where Springer comes from?
Rodimus is actually heading in to play a few video games, since he is not the Prime who occasionally gets suicidal over them, and it'll help get his mind off the planet before.
They really should be working on leaving here soon, but they can't really leave the Decepticons behind to run rampant. There's not just the dangers to the population - there's the danger of the resources the 'Cons might gain.
As he strolls towards the entertainment center and grabs up the remote, he spies who's already sitting in the area. Rodimus gives a grin. "Hey, Springer!" he greets cheerfully. "Great save the other day!"

Springer looks up when Rodimus comes in, raising a hand in a half-wave greeting. He grins a bit, then shrugs one shoulder. "Ah, was just doing my job, y'know."
Leaving soon would be good, at least setting a date!

"Well, sure," Rodimus agrees as he picks up the wireless game controller and then throws himself down onto the couch next to Springer. "But there's a difference between just getting it done and doing a job well. That whole business gave our rep on Pz-zazz a much-needed boost at the same time, and that really wasn't part of the job," he grins, turning on the console. He pauses a moment, considering what game to pull up.

Springer nods. "I know, just after all that media stuff, I'm kinda hesitant to draw more attention to it." He shrugs, then shakes his head. "You'd think they'd never seen a nice 'bot before or something."
Springer pauses, making a bit of a face. "...then again, from what I've seen of Pz-Zazz, that may have been the case..."

"Well, who knows... maybe that'll change," Rodimus says softly, expression strangely distant. Then he grins. "Maybe a good example will help!"
The grin becomes a smirk as he leans back on the couch and finally settles on pulling up Halo. "By the way, nice interview after," he adds, chuckling. "They really grilled you over color-scheme, huh?"

Springer scoffs a bit. "I dunno, how much did Mirage's training help the Dinobots?" He shrugs. "I know that there's times that one 'bot can make a difference in a big situation, but that little stunt setting Pz-Zazz straight is like trying to fend off an inferno with a wash hose."
Springer sighs a bit. "It'd take more than that, a bigger group. However, we don't have the time or resources to go around Pz-Zazz doing good deeds to shift things."
Then he makes a slightly exasperated face. "Yeah, no kidding. I mean, they're cool colors, but I was pulling half of that out my exhaust port." He shakes his head. "Really didn't like that on-scene reporter."

Rodimus's casual smirk doesn't falter in the least as Springer mentions pulling half of that out of his exhaust port. The friendly demeanor doesn't shift in the least. He just chuckles again and shrugs. "Well, you've gotta do what you've gotta do. He was pretty obnoxious."
"But... about Pz-zazz. I mean, even if it's only a small improvement, those are steps in the right direction, right?" Then, as he begins mowing down an assortment of space aliens, he adds, "I wouldn't underestimate the effect we're having, though. I know it sounds crazy, but... I really do think things are going to get better."

Springer nods at the comment about Mr. Go'bain. "You're telling me... At least the tree lady got out of things alright." Nice job, Springer - saved her life and you never caught her name!
Springer futzes some with his datapad. "I suppose so...just hard to see it at this point in time from my perspective." Hn. Typical rebel talk - all this about changing the status quo...

Some status quos need changing!
Still, Rodimus just quirks a grin and instinctively reaches over to grasp Springer's shoulder, a companionable move that hints of boyish rough-housing. "Or maybe I'm just crosswired," he chuckles.

Springer chuckles as well. You have no idea how much Springer thinks you're crosswired, Rodimus. "Ah, we all are a little, thanks to the whole displacement thing." He doesn't try to move away from the grab, though it is a bit uncomfortable.

Rodimus lets Springer go... because it would be hard for him to continue playing his video game, otherwise! "Yeah, no kidding," he snorts, amused. He settles back into the couch and frowns faintly. "Though sometimes..." and then he trails off.
"Naw. Nevermind."

Springer raises a browridge at the Prime, lowering his datapad. "Sometimes what?" he asks, head tilted slightly. The edge of his mouth pulls into a slight hint of a grin - "Can't just open up like that and leave me hanging, Rodimus."

Rodimus smiles sadly, not seeming to notice as his character is killed off on the screen.
"I... well, all right. As bad as I feel for having left my faction behind in the middle of a war, I... kind of enjoy it here." Rodimus hesitates an looks down at his controller, though the distant expression on his face suggests he's not really seeing it. "There's... so much that I've lost... and here, I have it again."

Springer pauses as Rodimus fesses up.
He should identify with this, going by the memories he's got implanted.
"...yeah, I know what you mean. I've only got Kup and a nicer Impactor, but I get where you're coming from," he answers with a solemn look.

"Oh, you do NOT know what it's like! Rrrrgh..."
