Day 16, courtroom, open to anyone who has a reasonable excuse to be here. If you want to claim that you're doing jury duty, you can do that. If you just want to watch in the audience, you can do that. A few people may be called as wit(less)nesses. Shockwave happens to be the prosecutor, and Emirate Xaaron happens to be the defense attorney. The judge will be scenemodded. Sentinel Prime is on trial for various charges.
Emirate Xaaron, in his slightly dated suit, with his dark brown leather valise, looks cool at a cucumber. He's actually not worried, really. C'mon, he's faced zombie hordes, demons, and the Herald of Unicron. This is small potatoes, whatever it is.
And if Sentinel Prime does anything amazingly stupid, they can just fake his death and stuff him in Deathcobra.
So Emirate Xaaron just reviews his notes again, waiting.

This is totally not Oil Slick.
This is Doctor Syd'ny Go'tlyeb - a lanky, long-fingered and red-eyed mechanoid in a green and black suit with matching fedora, sitting in the audience!
He might be called as a witness! And he may be here to see how his patient is doing after the good doctor administered medication to him.

Shockwave is indeed the prosecutor here due to some strategically placed funds and the fact that none of the regular prosecutors seem to want to go to trial in this Judge's court.
Mostly though, he's prosecutor due to Rule of Cool.
He is dressed in a carefully tailored suit that manages to fit his form and maintain the "locked and loaded" look of a double-breasted suit. He is sitting calmly at his station, briefcase on the table, papers stacked neatly before him.
He inclines his head respectfully at the Autobot Leader.

Sentinel Prime is in a nice navy suit, that has been fitted to his build, although it originally came off a rack. He looks exceedingly uncomfortable in it, and if not for the energy shackles keeping his hands behind his back, he would to keep slapping his own hand down because the urge to pluck at the fabric and scowl at how it wrinkles is so strong. So instead he just looks uncomfortable.
At least they're not stasis cuffs, he reflects. Stasis cuffs are awesome... when they're not on him, which is really more often than he'd like. He's already started thinking about how he could get out of them, should that be required. He's having some trouble of it; he isn't very creative. In fact, he used to ride Optimus's skidplate about being too creative. Sentinel Prime is sure he'll figure out something if the time comes.
He subtlety looks around for the guards and the other audience members. What are all they packing? Of course, the prosecutor, and Sentinel Prime knows he's stereotyping here, looks like he's a classic Great War Decepticon - big, obviously built for war, and a gun for a hand. Shockwave, according to the files in the database. Their leader.
Sentinel Prime wonders if he should be flattered or offended.

Emirate Xaaron smiles pleasantly over at Shockwave and calls to Shockwave, "Ah, come to work with me to advance justice for the common good?"
Because is what defence and prosecution should do - work hand in hand to discover the truth and lay the still-beating heart of a matter bare before the judge and jury.
Emirate Xaaron is not expecting that to happen here at all, but he just wants to establish that it's not his fault if this turns ugly. If Shockwave wants to waste his time and money of sending Sentinel Prime to jail, that just might make faking Sentinel's death worthwhile!

Yeaaah, I totally missed that Oil Slick was skippable. You folks should have smacked me or skipped me.
Sentinel should probably be offended. Shockwave is only here to try and deprive the Autobots of a warrior, not because you matter to him.
"But of course, Emirate Xaaron. We who profess to support order must ever be vigilant against allowing chaotic influences into society," Shockwave replies.
His single optic swings toward Sentinel Prime. So this is an Elite Guardsman of Oil Slick's reality? He does not look like much.

In looking around for guards and exits, Sentinel Prime notices Oil Slick, and he twitches. Then he grits his teeth and looks stoically away at the judge's box. He knows he shouldn't be able to manage that, and he can't feel any pride at the fact that he can now.
But he can't feel frustrated about it, either.
So Sentinel Prime does something productive with those freed-up processor cycles and listens to Emirate Xaaron and Shockwave talk. Hmm, what high grade are they on?

"Those who support order certainly must," Emirate Xaaron agrees pleasantly, although he's careful not to use 'we'. That's forced teaming right there, and well... Emirate Xaaron generally stands for order, but he wouldn't rank order as his number one goal. "Those who simply profess to support order, however, hmm..."
Sentinel's at least not turned into a gibbering mess. That's... something, Emirate Xaaron supposes.

Shockwave looks down at his notes, then back at Xaaron.
"Not guilty by way of temporary insanity? Given the recounting of the accused's supposed behavior, that is a wise move."
One headfin twitches.
"But do you really think a jury will agree?"

Sentinel Prime wonders how he should be looking for this. Not repentant, with a 'not guilty' plea, because he didn't do anything wrong. Not crazy, since they're claiming the insanity was only temporary. (But given how everyone treats him, they seem to think if he's not insane, he's got a case of terminal stupidity. He needs to work on fixing that impression!) Not too cocky of overconfident, he doesn't want to look disrespectful. Not too hopeful - he shouldn't need hope, and that could make him look silly.
So he settles on serious but calm, trying to stop fidgeting.

"Do I look like a sucker for a lost cause?" Emirate Xaaron replies back, with a hefty heaping of self-depreciating irony. To a Decepticon, any Autobot likely looks like exactly that. It doesn't exactly answer Shockwave's question - for Shockwave to accept it as a valid answer of his query Shockwave will have to make an assumption about Emirate Xaaron, one way or the other.

Post by Elita-1 on Oct 2, 2010 11:37:24 GMT -5
Elita-1 has been quietly sitting in the observers row on the defendant's side. She is dressed in a sedate black skirt and jacket and has on a little pillbox hat with a black net veil. She looks terribly serious.
You'd think she was at a funeral, not a court hearing.
It might not be the best thing for Sentinel for her to be here. But- he's still her friend, despite everything. He didn't refuse her that, even after what she did to him. She has to be there to support him.
She has to.

But Shockwave does not accept it as a valid answer!
"I do not not know enough of you to conjecture one way or another, Emirate. Extrapolation based on history files suggests that you are much more practical-minded with regards to your flock than some Autobot Commanders."
"I would posit that your active role in this affair has more to do with the reputation of the whole than of the individual."
One of Shockwave's headfins twitches. He turns to survey the crowd, his gaze pausing for a moment on Oil Slick, then continuing on to rest on a gaudily-colored jet. Misfire is, after all, one of the main eye-witnesses to the debacle. Also in attendance of course are the arresting detectives and the beat cop who took some of the original statements and a couple of the various property owners. The beat cop looks terribly bored.
On the defendant's side is a pink and white female Autobot who looks rather like she's playing bodyguard.
"Hrm. I expected more attendance, given the original publicity."
OOC: Misfire is present, but I'm not formally posting him until he's called as a witness. Arcee is also present, because she's been told to keep Xaaron from doing anything stupid if things go pear-shaped. >_>

Skystrike is here too, being one of the witnesses to Sentinel’s rampage through the city subsequent mental breakdown. She’s currently sitting beside Misfire, donning a dark blue and white pinstriped suite with a matching tie and fedora.
The hat casts a shadow over her already dark face, leaving only the bemused dingy reds of her optics as she peers over the proceedings, chin resting on gloved knuckles and legs neatly crossed at the knees. This was probably going to be a short trial, all things considered.
OOC: Skippable.

Sentinel Prime's optics narrow over that choice of attire from Elita-1. Huh. So she has the same taste as Blackarachnia. That bothers him - he doesn't want to think that Blackarachnia is Elita-1 any more. Similarities are unnerving.
There's that chickie Seeker with the deep voice, if the pink man wasn't lying. He resists the urge to blow the both of them a kiss. That would not be showing proper decorum at all, even if he's sorely tempted. He'd take his payback where can get it!
