Day 24, after "Junkyard Wars". Open to those on 'Ship', AFTER Mistwind gets his present. Semi-private before that .
Duskwing wended his way to the main ready room/hangar on Ship. Unless an attack was imminent, the room was usually empty, except for the occasional watchstander making sure all the hatches and cabinets that were supposed to be closed and/or locked were closed and/or locked, and equipment that was supposed to be fueled/charged/loaded was fueled/charged/loaded.
His footsteps clanged loudly as he ambled across the metal deck with a Transformer-sized guitar tucked under one arm. Would Mistwind show up soon? The kid seemed nervous for some reason. Did Mistwind know where the ready room was?

Mistwind knows where the ready room is by two universal reasons: The ready room needs supplies, and the jetpack is addicted to anything related to -real- flight.
But he is a tiny bit later than he could've been. Mistwind is a bit scared and confused by the earlier radio transmission. But he's also very curious!
"Mister Duskwing Sir?" He calls from the doorway.

"Mistwind!" Duskwing's face lights up and he grins happily. "Look at this cool thing Screwdriver made!" He holds out a Transformer-sized child's guitar. The guitar looks something like this, with the trademarked characters replaced with more generic happy monsters. 1He says, "It's the Screwdriver Silly Sounds Guitar! Press the horse button, and it makes horse noises." Duskwing demonstrates. "At least, that's what Screwy called it. I dunno what a horse is. Let's see, press the frog button, and the frog jumps." He presses that button, and a little toy frog attached to the guitar shifts from one side to the other, accompanied by a 'sprrrrroing!' noise. "Press the 'Hello, Kitty' button, and---" He presses a button depicting an adorable kitty. The guitar emits a kittenish 'meow' and a laser blasts from the neck of the guitar and scorches the nearest wall. "Oops, maybe I shouldn't have pressed that so hard. Let's see, what else did she say? Oh yeah, 'Not recommended for children under three!'" Duskwing beams and holds it out to Mistwind. "I thought maybe you'd like it," he said, looking oddly embarrassed. "Hook wasn't very nice and I think he hurt Screwy's feelings by being so rude about her entry in the contest. Anyway, if you like it, you might tell Screwdriver--it'd probably cheer her up." ---- 1Example picture and description courtesy of Screwdriver's player.

Had this been anyone else but Duskwing then the excited greeting would've warranted typical paranoid Decepticon behaviour. But the reserved pose fades away completely and Mistwind even hurries up to the seeker with a curious grin. "Oh wow, it's grea- Gyaah!" The laser startles him, and for a moment, Mistwind freezes, "It's a weapon?! That's.... that's... really kinda... wicked!"
He takes the guitar from Duskwing, if the seeker lets him, and studies it, careful of the laser. "I do like it, Sir! Miss Screwdriver makes awesome stuff!" Duskwing is answered with a huge smile.
Then, the little Decepticon hesitates, "Mister Duskwing Sir, this is the present you were talking about, correct? This one wants to express gratitude and thanks... do war machines do that as well?"

Duskwing straightens up and looks quite pleased with himself. "Yeah, dat's it. See, you're my combat partner, and partners look out for each other! If dey're good partners, dey do."
He tilts his head and looks thoughtful. "Uh... not so much. See, if dey outrank you, dey think dey can just order you do to stuff, and don't thank you for followin' orders, 'cause dey don't figure you'd dare not do what dey say. An' if dey are weaker than you, sometimes dey don't like to thank you 'cause that's admitting they owe you. You wanna be careful about owin' people."
The dark blue and purple Seeker frowned a bit. That wasn't coming out quite the way he wanted. "But a partner you trust, or someone about your own strength, that's different, see? 'Specially if you want them to be allies, den you let 'em know you, uh, think they do good work, and ap-ap-- uh, thank them for helpin' you." He looked around quickly. "Careful about lettin' other people--dem guys you don't trust--know who is your ally, see?"

A shiver runs all the way through Mistwind's central sensory net at the word 'Combat'. No, no fondness for that word. But he always tries to be a good partner/ally!
Mistwind laughs, shrugging, "Almost everyone orders me around, Mister Duskwing Sir, that's nothing new. I think it's somewhere in my function parameters?" He looks at the guitar, smiling gratefully, "I am happy!"
Indeed, Mistwind looks just as elated as on that day a certain dark blue and purple seeker asked him to team up. He answers while jumping up and down, clutching the guitar to his chest "I see, Mister Duskwing Sir!"
---------------------- Through this, Duskwing earns a karma point.

Duskwing grins. His awesome little jetpack pal likes it! "Dat's good, kid. Have fun!" He pauses a moment. "An' if it needs any tuning, uh, ask Screwdriver 'bout it? 'Cause she made it."
He shifts on his feet, uncertain what to say next. "Yeah. Well, see ya 'round, 'less you wanna get some practice flying in the Sim Room?"
--- If Mistwind opts for the sim room, we can do that offstage or thread, as you like.

"I will ask Miss Screwdriver if something's wrong with it!" Mistwind agrees. He should thank her as well. "Heh, Mister Duskwing Sir, I always want to go practice flying! .... if you don't have anything planned yet, that is. Let's go!" With that, the kid makes for the room's exit in his excitement. ------------------------------------------- Ok with flying being off-thread if they go and do that. Unless you want more interaction between the duo.

"Great! I'm right behind ya, kid," Duskwing says, heading for the same exit.
--- And out-of-thread. Let's do it offscreen this time; holidays are hard for me to keep up with new threads.
