The tank seems to glare at Skyfire, as if you say, 'Couldn't you have mention that earlier?' but he says nothing on that matter.
Omega Supreme mutters, "Worm: severed."

Skyfire had mentioned it earlier, in his debriefing, when talking about Hook. It just hadn't occurred to him to emphasize that the body Hook had transplanted the CPU into was a hundred-foot monstrosity capable of tearing through mud, rock and metal with near-equal ease. The words "mining robot" covered a lot of territory.
Feeling rather more than just sheepish, Skyfire decided to postpone boarding Omega Supreme and sat down next to him. "I'm sorry," he said again.
"Thank you, Long Haul. You are probably right--from the look of those scratches on Omega, whatever alloy he's made of is very resistant to Hellbender's cutters.
He looked up at Omega's muttering and frowned. "How far back? The vital systems were all clustered in the anterior region--most of the body and posterior were motive systems and ore storage. There's a good chance he survived if the damage didn't push him into cascade failure."

"Right. Sos's we've just got to find other stuff he can't dig through, neither." Long Haul pauses in his work, and adds, muttering, "Or start hiding out on the moon."
The Constructibot finishes the panel he's working on, closes it, and moves on. He works efficiently, and it doesn't take too long for him to finish a second panel, then a third.

Omega Supreme is not really one for planning in advance. There are other people to do that sort thing. Omega Supreme exists as the last ditch line of defense after all the fancy plans have failed.
He starts to feel, physically, a bit better, as Long haul works on him. The sensation is odd, at once familiar and alien. A lifetime ago, Long Haul performing maintenance on him would have been routine.
His answer is simple, "Breakage: halfway."

Skyfire pondered. "He probably survived, then. Hook struck me as the sort of person who insists on doing a perfect job even in an emergency--he wouldn't have let Hellbender have systems so poorly balanced as to go into full failure from secondary damage."
The white shuttle made an internal note to report this to Rodimus when he returns: the mining worm almost certainly survived, and will be back after repairs.
Skyfire rose to his feet. "Ah, permission to come aboard, Omega Supreme?"

Long Haul looks up as Skyfire discusses Hook, and narrows his optics faintly. Thinking about him is really more distraction than Long Haul can deal with right now, and it's not as if discussing the rest of the former Crystal City caretakers around Omega Supreme for extended periods is the brightest idea...
"Hey, uhm, Skyfire? All things considered, what with history and such, you might want to go into a different topic. You know. To avoid causing undue stress to the patient and such." Not to mention the doctor.
Those words said, Long Haul returns to his work. He is nearly done with everything on his own level... which, due to the fact that Omega's claw-arm had been a primary target of Hellbender's, means he's got the bulk of what he can do done. There's still a bit to go, and some things that will be left for self-repairs.

Omega Supreme booms, his voice angry, "Hook: flawed. Work: incompetent."
The barrel of his cannon shakes with barely-contained hatred, the only thing that Omega Supreme feels on this airless moon, and the only thing that he can ever feel.
Then, the turret swivels away, away from Long Haul, as if embarrassed. His only thoughts of Hook are ill, but he knows that it must hurt Long Haul to hear Omega Supreme say as much.

Skyfire is a person of rationality and goodwill; as such, it didn't initially occur to him that simple discussion of an enemy Transformer's abilities would set off such anger. However, Skyfire is also an intelligent and perceptive person; he noticed Omega Supreme's shaking cannon and angry voice and re-evaluated.
"Ah, of course," Skyfire replied to Long Haul. "One thing, though..."
Skyfire stares up at Omega Supreme, ice-blue optics locking onto the Guardian's visored gaze. "Peace, Omega. We are all friends here; the enemy is far away. Stand down. I am sorry that I upset you, but analysing and understanding what our enemies have done and who they might be is necessary. We cannot survive blind and unknowing; we must see and know, even if the sight angers and horrifies."
"I let my own anger at the Demon Prime's carnage override my good judgment; I was nearly destroyed because of it. Because of my anger, Perceptor spent resources desperately needed elsewhere to repair me, and it was that much longer before I was fit to bring Long Haul out to you."
"Don't make the same mistake, Omega Supreme. You are too precious to us--to Long Haul, to Kup, to me, to all of us. Do not underestimate the enemy because you hate them. That they are hateful does not make them fools or incompetent." Finally the blue optics flickered and turned a shade darker; Skyfire knew all too well that Starscream was still too brilliant and cunning for all his betrayal.
Skyfire's thrusters sighed softly. "Long Haul, are you ready for me to lift you up?"

Long Haul silently grabs what tools and parts he'll need for the harder to reach spots. While Skyfire talks, he does nothing more than rest his hand against Omega's hull. He's never been much for fancy words, anyway.
When Skyfire finishes, he nods. "Yeah, I could use the help now. Shouldn't take long."

"No problem!" At Long Haul's nod, the big shuttle bent down and got his arms under Long Haul, then boosted him up Omega Supreme's side. Skyfire was not noted for his strength the way some, like Brawn, had been, but he was strong enough to lift a normal-sized Autobot. (In fact he was strong enough to pick up a full-sized Megatron...)
"Just say the word when you're ready to be put down," he said cheerily. Skyfire liked the quiet, occasionally sad Constructibot. Skyfire actually liked most people who weren't actively trying to kill him or hurt friends. The loneliness of space had made him appreciate having people to talk to over the years.
Whether that was any consolation to Omega Supreme that there were other Autobots who accepted Long Haul as he was and would watch out for him, only he could say. But Skyfire certainly hoped so.

With Skyfire's help, Long Haul works on some of Omega's out of reach areas. The work goes pretty quickly, largely because Long Haul is very familiar with Omega Supreme's build, but also because there's a lot that the Constructibot is leaving to self-repairs. Once it's done and he's put down, he approaches Omega's tank portion and gives it another hug.
"Gonna have to go back, Omega. I'm sorry. I don't like leaving you alone like this."

Only a fool would destroy the best thing he ever had.
The only survivors of Crystal City are fools.
Omega Supreme mostly ignores Skyfire, who strikes him as entirely too naive and idealistic, despite it all.
To Long Haul, he replies, eventually, "Care: appreciated."
He does, really!

"I hope we can bring you more fuel and repairs soon, but that depends on the situation downstairs," Skyfire interjected. He did not have the kind of ego that was wounded by being ignored; he has told Omega Supreme what he thought necessary and that's that. In truth, he was a curiously unidealistic person--or perhaps his ideals were so simple and pervasive that, like air, they were invisible while enveloping him completely.
Once Long Haul was done, Skyfire transformed back into his shuttle mode. "Long Haul, can you load some of the blue crystal into my hold where the supplies were? I would like to take it back to Perceptor for analysis; it has interesting qualities that he may find useful."
Next problem: making the return flight and landing without attracting undue attention.

Omega isn't exactly a talky-fellow anyway these days, although that, too, is odd to Long Haul. He finishes his hug, absently pats the tank, then turns and nods towards the space shuttle. "Sure, I can get a few chunks," he tells Skyfire. The carts he brought here are now mostly empty, so he heads over to the gouge dug out by Omega's landing and gathers up an armful of crystals. Long Haul is abnormally strong, so his armful is abnormally large. He puts them on the cart, then pushes the cart up Skyfire's ramp. He pauses before entering completely, turns, and waves towards Omega once more before he heads into the shuttle and proceeds to secure things for the trip.

The tank waves solemnly to Skyfire and Long Haul as they depart. For now, he will attempt to rest and heal.
The problem is that the worst of it scarred too long ago.
