Nightbeat, on the other hand, would not have to remember the steps. Holographic memory and all. This thought passes through his head as he watches the two.
He just might have to cut in, before too long.
...Not that he's jealous. But if you're gonna do something, do it right.

Whoa now, Xaaron wants her to take this faster? Even better!
Those tell-tale clacks of her heels get sharper as they dance faster, and she's starting to lose the ability to carry herself as Miss Congeniality. That's all right, though, because an energetic dance to music, any music, with energon in easy reach is a heckuva party!
"So you do this often?"

Emirate Xaaron's up to tempo and spec now, so perhaps he won't be hurting poor Mirage's optics anymore. He isn't attempting any of the flashier moves, but he isn't embarrassing himself or, worse, his partner.
Emirate Xaaron even keeps his composure and doesn't misstep when Pee-Dee's question breaks into his thoughts. He replies, grinning rakishly, "My dear, I haven't danced for over four million years." Then, conspiratorially, he admits, "Well, perhaps I have danced on the grave of a tyrant or two." Back at a normal speaking tone, he finishes, "Diplomatic functions between the city-states sometimes involved dances. Somehow, I always found myself partnered with a strapping tank or a lumbering artillery emplacement," because a lot of the other councilmen were wusses! "It'll be a treat to have my feet intact at the end of the night."
He then attempts to lead Pee-Dee into an underarm turn, something a little fancier.

Why exactly is he watching this? It's not as if he even likes Pee-Dee. She's an annoying, by the book, wouldn't know an original thought, no fun cop. And while Nightbeat's all for law and order, he prefers to be just one step outside it. He's got limits, absolutely, but he's also much more willing to cross lines than general security personnel might be.
Stuff gets done that way. People don't ask him any more questions than are strictly necessessary, he doesn't tell them things they don't need to know. (Except when he winds up telling them something he thinks they know, because it's so obvious to him. The curse of brilliance.)
He has to catch himself, because he's almost glaring lasers into the Emirate's dancing form.
He's going to need some of the hard stuff before this is over.

For someone who is no fun, Pee-Dee sure is having a lot of fun. The Bat-Xaaron is enjoyable to dance with - he's skillful, he's pretty, he's witty...
He's probably gay, but they don't have women where he comes from, so he'd have to be.
"We try not to step on feet where I come from. Too annoying to have to re-attach in the middle of a dance - you throw everyone else off, and you'll end up with a brawl sooner or later if that happens more than once."
She steps into the turn and pirouettes neatly before letting Xaaron gather her back up. Not quite what an Iaconian waltz calls for, but she'd maintain her version is more fun.

Was that Nightbeat glaring at him? Emirate Xaaron totally has to be seeing things. Then Pee-Dee distracts him with a tantalising bit of cultural information. He murmurs, "Fascinating." Any thoughts about Nightbeat are gone. The Junkions would appear to be a whole culture of near-immortals who need to worry very little about the repercussion of any action. Perhaps it is a good thing that they are so xeno-obsessed - it at least provides a semblance of structure.
Then she goes and puts a variation on the underarm turn that he hasn't seen. Kids and their new-fangled xeno dance moves! However, if he couldn't roll with the punches, he'd never get far, so he takes the alternation in stride. Now, another box step, and what might be pleasing after that? Perhaps a back spot turn?

One, two, three, .... two thousand, ...six million and four...
Nightbeat had heard counting was supposed to relieve your stress. It sure as Primus wasn't doing him any good.

As long as Xaaron kept leading her properly, Pee-Dee is flexible and exuberant enough to try near anything.
Her hand tightens on his shoulder during the turn as they seem to whirl around each other. Brief snatches of image catch in her brilliant optics - the jets in a cluster around Skyfire, Arcee and Rodimus dancing, Perceptor dancing, Nightbeat glaring...
She laughs in delight and takes her hand away from the Emirate's shoulder, letting momentum spin her out at the end of their held hands - if he lets go of her waist.

Emirate Xaaron does let go, because there would be rather a mess if he didn't! Hopefully they can rejoin as part of the recovery.
He inquires, "And just what else do you do for entertainment?"
Does he dare? Oh, he dares. Never let it be said that Emirate Xaaaron is not daring, when the cards are all down and caution's time and place has long since expired. Might Pee-Dee be enticed into a dip?

By all narrative logic, steam should be coming out of Nightbeat's ears. He does have ears doesn't he? Are his antenna his ears? So when he's in car mode, are his ears on his hood?
He's clenching his fists awfully hard. And he's not even sure why.

Oh, he definitely dares!
"We watch teevee!" As Pee-Dee bends back with the dip, her left leg comes up. It's a lovely long straight line of metal, and then she promptly wraps it around Xaaron's abdomen.

At this moment, it's arguable if Emirate Xaaron would even notice if Nightbeat bodily exploded. Emirate Xaaron has a Junkion around him! That's pretty distracting.
So why is he thinking about Wreckers? Actually, Pee-Dee seems like she would make an excellent Wrecker. She's a capable combatant, she simply does not stay down once taken down, and she has some interesting specialist skills. But can she crack some eggs to make an omelet?
Still, he had a motive here, didn't he? Now he has a perfect opening. Emirate Xaaron holds the dip out, tauntingly long, and he asks, "Not right now - the night is young," even if he isn't, "but later, when the party has died down, might you show me some of your teevee?"
This is what DVDs are for.

While continuing to keep an eye on Pee-Dee and Xaaron, Nightbeat makes his way to the punch bowl.
He swallows a whole glass in one gulp.
And then another.
And then another.
And then another.
"Now," he says to no one in particular. "Now, Emirate Shaaron ish the nashtiesh bossh ever... But I still reshpectsh him. He'sh my bossh. But now... But now, he'sh messhing with my woman..."

There are several ways that a man asking to watch teevee with a woman can go. Either he means "I'm interested in you, let me check what you watch to see if we can hang out and cause trouble together" or he means "I'm interested in you, let's watch something together and then check what kind of pipes are used on each other's lasercores".
Pee-Dee is fairly certain she can rule out the idea that Emirate Xaaron is trying to chat her up.
"Sure! That'd be fun!" She frowns slightly as she's raised out of her dip. "But are there any good places where it's dark and we won't get interrupted?"

Emirate Xaaron answers readily, "I know for a fact that no one is using the planning room after this party, and I have the command codes to lock the doors. It has a lovely projector system." The lights turn off as per usual operation.
He moves for a contra check, turning his body left face and flexing his knees. Maybe he should be instead be doing a check of the state of the party. Maybe if he did, he'd notice just how badly Nightbeat is hitting the drink.
