Mirage took another long draught from his cup then eyes it speculatively. He will be needing a refill soon if he keeps this pace. He nods at Swerve, "Perhaps she might. Though considering her apparent age and preferences that is unlikely." A though occurs to Mirage as he watches Xaaron lead Pee-Dee into a waltz, despite the poor music match. He turns, and starts to ask Swerve something, but is interrupted by the arrival of Swerve's Emirate.
"Unclear. I have not seen him dance before, but we have also had no occasion to dance at before tonight." Mirage sighs and shakes his head, a touch of haughtiness creeping into his tone, "However, I'd wager the answer is no, considering the way he is butchering the fine art of the Iaconese waltz."
Mirage takes another sip. Blast it, he wants a refill, wants to dance, and really wouldn't mind getting laid. But the current situation offers precious few prospects. Frag.

Kup has dropped Synapse off in Synapse's quarters, and has by now returned to the party and scooped up another drink. The veteran is steering well clear of the bizarre flailings on the dance-floor (not that the codger doesn't know a few moves of his own, from more than a few worlds, but he's not really drunk enough to be willing to dance to this noise they're passing off as music), and it's in doing so that he drifts near the small group containing both the duplicates.
"Ah. Good evening, folks." Kup gazes out over at the party at large. "You know, this reminds me of a visit I made to Libcas Nine a couple millennia back." The elder scowls in the direction where the noise comes from, and adds, "The music there was terrible, too."

Ah, so Emirate Xaaron has come to Swerve instead! Seeing him safe, if a little unsettled, is something of a balm for the constable and Swerve takes it in stride when his leader huddles behind him. Less so when there is flailing and frantic exclamation, but Mirage seems to have it covered. Handy, that, since Swerve wouldn't have been able to answer anyway.
"Well," Swerve offers magnanimously, giving Mirage an ever so painfully bland smile, "everyone has to come off the starting line. And really, I think the music is alright," he continues after a greeting nod to Kup. He makes a brief, speculative face and tilts his head ever so slightly. "Different… but alright." Trying to be contrary for its own sake? No. He just doesn't feel it's his place to judge; what's more, Firebolt didn't have to offer music for anyone's enjoyment at all. And others certainly seem to be enjoying it!
Speaking of enjoying… maybe he should try offering Emirate Xaaron a drink. Even a single mouthful, something to fortify him, tide him over until normal, safe fuel can be had. This blend can't be too terribly bad for anyone. Other than the usual side-effects of tackling high-grade, Swerve feels perfectly fine and it doesn't seem like anyone else is poisoned or acting strangely. Of course, Swerve's assuming the spontaneous dancing and so forth is perfectly normal here.
Finally, he turns just enough to try catching Emirate Xaaron's worried gaze away from Mirage.
"Sir," he begins, face and tone sincere, "if you'd like, you could try a sip from my glass. Something might be better than nothing." Simple suggestion and nothing more, offering without any expectations either way. And at least it's been taste-tested.

Mirage has not answered the question that Emirate Xaaron was really asking. Are the other Emirate Xaaron and Pee-Dee on terms where she doesn't make his life miserable? Apparently so.
Emirate Xaaron can't help wincing when he looks over at the other Emirate Xaaron, but whether it is from how Emirate Xaaron was mangling the waltz or from his choice of dancing partners isn't clear. He has to protest, "If his history is anything like mine, he hasn't danced in over four million years." Then he corrects himself, "Not that his history is anything like mine, I'm sure."
So he escaped from Perceptor, Botanica, Rattrap, and Holi, and now he's got Mirage and Kup around him. This is an improvement, right? Emirate Xaaron is a bit dubious. He narrows his topics at Kup's mention of what sounds like an offworld locale. When did Kup ever have time to go offworld?
No one here knows the two Emirate Xaarons well enough to comment on their drinking habits. Nightbeat might be able to make an observation or two about his own Emirate Xaaron, but Nightbeat can make an observation about most anything. There is, however, a big difference in how the two approach drinking. The other Emirate Xaaron has an unfortunate quirk of his systems in that at the very moment he'd start to get buzzed, he passes out and wakes up later on with a hangover, never actually have gotten to the 'good part'. Despite that fact, he does have a decently good tolerance and can pack away quite a few before he goes from sober to passed out.
This Emirate Xaaron can't hold his energon as well, but he could actually enjoy its effects if he could bring himself to drink it without worrying about poisoning. At Swerve's offer, he inquires, "Why, is it not to your tastes? I could get you something else to drink."
Swerve seems to have proven whatever is in his cup to be harmless, so Emirate Xaaron would feel especially bad to deprive him of it and not offer a substitute.

Mirage shrugs at Swerve, "Point. A little music is better than nothing I suppose." Mirage nods and greets Kup, "Got Synapse settled, did you?" but his eyes are on Pee-Dee and Xaaron.
"Four million years? No wonder he's a bit rusty, though it seems like he's finding the rhythm now. And Pee-Dee seems a decently skilled partner."
Mirage takes another sip of his drink- just a sip, because he is getting low- and his optics widen just a bit as an idea comes to mind. Oh no, he is not seriously contemplating this. But a chance to dance, properly dance...Mirage eyes Swerve's Emirate speculatively, a slight smile on his lips.
"So, does that mean you also know the proper steps? I don't suppose you'd like to try and show your counterpart up a bit, would you?"
Mirage is going to get his aft chewed by Kup later for this, especially if the other Emirate says yes.

Kup is a geezer. It is in the geezer handbook that they have to dislike any music that young people like. They just have to. Nevermind that Kup's been all over the galaxy and is familiar with a vast variety of different genres and types. If young people of his own species likes it, that makes it noise, not music.
That's just the way these things work.
As folks defend the music, he just shrugs and mutters into his drink, "You're entitled to your opinion." Then, he takes a long sip and adds, "Even when it's wrong."
He tilts his head enough to watch Mirage and Emirate Xaaron curiously when the spy asks the Emirate to dance. No, he has no intention of chewing anyone's aft over this, but he really wasn't expecting the question and is curious to hear the answer.
For Kup's part, it's not that he doesn't know how to dance. On the contrary, he knows quite a few dances from quite a few worlds. But he finds the music off-putting, and actually, come to think of it, for as many off-world dances that he knows, he's not really sure he knows any Cybertronian dances suitable for anywhere outside of a low-class pub.

A couple of things are starting to work against the good constable. Considering all the attention the spectacle garners from this little group, it's getting harder to ignore the other Emirate Xaaron dancing with… yes, that's Pee-Dee. Yes, they seem to generally be having a good time. Well… will wonders never cease?
No, they apparently will not. That or he really has already had too much to drink, because he could swear Emirate Xaaron just offered to get him a drink. To his credit, somehow – possibly through a feat of Greater Composure – Swerve manages to neither sputter nor perform some blushing equivalent. He can't help looking surprised for a few tenths of a second, but that quickly changes to something not quite a full smile but brimming nonetheless with flattered gratitude.
"You don't have to do that, sir," he replies sincerely, just a little awkwardly, adding, "And it's quite good, actually, which is why I thought–" He doesn't finish the sentence, though. Too busy blinking at Mirage, then glancing back to Emirate Xaaron. If the latter agrees, well, Swerve is in no position to argue, but he can't help a surge of instinctive concern. In a way, it's his job to worry, really.

It's to be noticed that Firebolt doesn't pay attention to the people, she's too busy being DJ with many songs, varied as the cultures of Earth themselves. Don't mind the fact that she's dancing to her own music, which makes it a little odd to hear as it comes from her own speakers.
Too busy unless somebody bothers her that is.

Emirate Xaaron is such an idiot. He shouldn't have mentioned anything. Never venture information! Does Mirage like watching Emirate Xaaron squirm? Yes, ask the fellow who is liable to throw a twitching conniption if you touch him if he'd like to dance in close. That's liable to go over esimmingly.
Then, Emirate Xaaron pauses and stares at Mirage, and he sputters, "How would you know Iaconese waltz? I mean, you're-" -what's a good word for 'delightfully low-class'? Oh, Unicron's teeth, what if this Mirage isn't actually low-class? After all, he clearly does seem to think of himself as capable of it. He finishes lamely, "-not really suggesting we show them up, are you? That would be horribly rude."
He shoots a particularly loathing glare at Kup. Oh, Swerve's opinion is wrong, is it? What wonderfully open-minded, welcoming people. Perhaps they also consider stringing up Unicron-worshippers and discovering if they have candy inside or not as a party-game.
Emirate Xaaron will do what he has to blend in here. Right now, that would appear to be dancing and pretending to enjoy himself. He is so not overcharged enough for this. Emirate Xaaron answers Swerve, forcing a smile onto his face, "You know, I think I will take you up on that kind offer," and he turns to Mirage, adding, "and you, as well."
At least Firebolt's music has variety to it. Emirate Xaaron can appreciate that. The only music he really ever liked, though was arrhythmic and non-repeating, the irrational numbers of the music word, with no intelligible lyrics.

Annnnnnnnd where has Jazz been since the little breakup of Nightbeat's announcement into smaller dancing groups?
Drinking. That's where.
And now that the source of that rythm and meter is obvious (little red Firebolt, with a few tunes that Bumblebee wasn't able to share), he's homing in. Buzzing around. Dancing like a white bo-- wait. No. He's a little better than that. And with a big sloppy grin, he's dancing into the vicinity of the redbot.
Tag to the left, step to the right. Shake what your maker gave you!
"Nice! You got anythin' with a li'l more kick?" Yeah, Jazz knows a few of the names. Lessee if he can say them clear enough. "Fatboy Slim? FastPunk?" Guess he's not.
Nope. Not gonna stop dancing. It helps keep the drunk from catching up. Either way-- the tension is pretty much ignorable at the moment. No one is yelling . . . yet.

Mirage is actually quite surprised. Skittish as the Emirate is, a positive answer had not been expected. Mirage tilts his head, and his smile deepens, even as one browridge goes up and he give the Emirate an appraising glance. Shorter, but not by much, not the most graceful of body styles, and admittedly out of practice. This is going to be interesting.
"I have already gathered that the Mirage you and Swerve know is not as cultured as myself, so please no need to censure yourself. I admit I am curious about him, as Swerve has been rather close-mouthed about details."
He shrugs, "But that is also not the most pleasant of conversation topics." Mirage offers his arm to the Emirate, "Shall we?"
At least this Xaaron doesn't have to worry about someone clocking him for stealing their man. Though Swerve might be looking daggers at Mirage for awhile.
If Xaaron-3 takes Mirage's arm, they'll spin off (pun intended) to another thread.

Jazz isn't the only 'bot who's been busy drinking; Ironfire has lost count of how many cubes she's emptied. Not that she was really counting anyway. Clenched in her fist is yet more to drink. But now, time to harass the DJ!
"Hey, Firebolt, you able to put on some classic Terran rock? Good stuff, that." Her voice hasn't quite picked up the tell-tale edge of drunkeness, but it's clear she's not unaffected. Is it just the drinks, or is Firebolt looking nicer than usual tonight? Just the drinks, probably. Maybe. Ironfire never could tell.

Ultimately, having an opinion about something, say, whether or not a certain kind of music is good or bad, means believing that you are right about it and everyone who disagrees with you is wrong. If you believed otherwise, you wouldn't hold that opinion. The more strongly held the opinion is, the more one believes in their own rightness on the matter and everyone else's wrongness. Kup's just a bit more honest about this than most people.
Of course, one of the opinions Kup holds the strongest is his opinion that other people have the right to be wrong by disagreeing with his tastes. Mind you, if this weren't a party, he'd still be shouting for silence, because he heavily values his own right to not have to deal with that noise, thank you very much.
Since this is a party, however, he's just doing his best to ignore it. And when he can't ignore it, he complains about it.
And then Kup gets orders to try to grill Swerve. This'll be tricky - especially since over-energization tends to lead to overheating, and if this Swerve shares his alternate's problem, time itself may be working against him. Mirage, on the other hand, seems to be helping out by encouraging the alternate Xaaron to dance.
Kup is just about to try to strike up a conversation with Swerve when Nightbeat clocks Emirate Xaaron. The veteran opens his optics wide and his jaw drops just slightly in shock. "Of all the diode-blowing, wire-wicking, axel-dropping-"
No doubt in a moment either Kup will storm over to haul Nightbeat off to the brig (or things will have progressed past the point where such a move is necessary). But for now, he's just shocked, though obviously not shocked speechless.

Jazz's approach, even though his attention seems solely fixed on Firebolt, garners a polite smile and nod from Swerve. It'd be rude to not offer some sort of greeting, really, even if he isn't always acknowledged. Treating others as he'd like to be treated and so on.
Looking daggers at Mirage? Hardly. Swerve isn't the type unless he's actually angry, and he… well, isn't. Ever so stunned, a touch flabbergasted perhaps, maybe even pleasantly surprised somewhere in there to think that Emirate Xaaron is genuinely enjoying himself – why, yes, the good constable has a knack for occasionally deluding himself.
"If you like, then, sir," he murmurs, offering his glass. There's a flash of movement off to the side in the general vicinity of the already-dancing Emirate Xaaron and his partner, a rather distracting movement in fact, a sweep of blue and a glint of gold. Swerve's attention is drawn just in time to see Nightbeat strike the other Emirate Xaaron. Training and ingrained reflex urge Swerve to rush to the leader's defence, try to defuse the situation, stop thing before they can escalate further. Uncertainty keeps him in place; should he just leap in? Or should he let their security handle the matter? For that matter, he wonders as he glances toward the security chief, how would this Kup take the constable – an outsider of sorts – intruding on matters that should probably be left to his security department?
…All right, so Kup's first reaction to the whole thing is to start swearing. That's… new. Swerve can't help taking that as his cue to intervene and starts off, then pulls himself up short. He still has his duties to his Emirate Xaaron. And he forgot about the drink he's still holding. Unfortunately, with all these distractions, he misses Ironfire.

Oh man, looks like being busy being delicious is getting interrupted. Firebolt pauses in her own dancing, and looks over, ponytails raising just a little bit. "Erm... Yo," she waves slightly, and then straightens up. "You want it, I got it," she said, moving into imitating DJs she had seen on stage while posing as a car in a nearby parking lot. Some of the best DJ battles had to be outside for the sake of not having crowded, stuffy buildings, she thought.
She held up her fingers and started ticking off names, "Yes I have Fatboy Slim, like, you'd like Weapon of Choice, or Funk Soul Brother. I now got them cued right on up. And how about some Kiss? Mmm. They were pretty good, never heard their stuff personally. Or Aerosmith. AC(insert Lightining Bolt)DC? They're all cued up too. Gotta love 'em. Also, some other songs thrown in there to just mix it up. Sound good?"
She snaps her fingers and starts playing the first of mentioned songs.
"Man, these peeps are so borin, n' stuffy. You all wanna move somewhere else?" She offers, looking around.
(OOC: Not sure if they should move to a separate place/thread to have their music lovings and fun drinking, or they should be bystanders, so it's an offer at least.)
