Is Perceptor also compromised? Do I need to retrieve his files for a comparison-scan as well?

Skyfire's voice changes from concerned to coldly displeased, // I trust there will be a very good explanation forthcoming very soon for why Perceptor is in the brig if he is not compromised? //

//Why would you think that?// Kup asks innocently.
//The short version. I was starting my interrogation of Springer, Perceptor threatened to escort me out of my own slagging brig, I told him if he tried it I'd put him through the bulkhead and then brig him, he said if that's the case, then I'd have to brig him, so I did. Without the bulkhead thing, so I went easy on him.//
//And before you asked, no, I wasn't threatening Springer, I wasn't breaking anything, I wasn't even slagging shouting,1 and I'm going to tell you what I told him: I don't walk into medical and tell him how to do his job, and I don't walk into medical and threaten to escort him out when he's doing his damned job, and if he can't give me the same damn level of respect, even after an axel-cracking warning, he can deal with the consequences.//
//This gonna be a problem, Skyfire?//
1 True. The exact phrasing was, 'Kup asks bluntly, a barely restrained anger, an undercurrent of betrayal, just barely audible in his voice.' Kup, who yells frequently and easily, is, in this case, guilty of being blunt and doing a bit of glowering on the side. No exclamation points were abused in the making of the initial post.

// It will not be a problem as regards getting Springer scanned and the preliminary data analysis task the two of you requested. Whether it will be a problem down the line depends on what is actually going on--the behavior you describe does not sound like the Perceptor I work with, though he has been short of recharge and severely overworked lately. I will expect to hear Perceptor's side of the story; until then, I reserve judgement, // Skyfire replies, more neutral than before.
// When will you release Perceptor, or is he being held pending charges? //
-- Just a reminder: Emirate Xaaron is in this circuit as well, if he has anything to say.

OOC: I know. Kup is telling things as he sees them, and doesn't have any problem with Xaaron hearing.
//You accusing me of lying, Skyfire?//
Kup's own tone is noticeably irritated, though he's not yelling, and would only barely qualify as 'raising his voice' had this been spoken out loud instead of over the radio. //I wasn't planning on keeping him long, but since everyone in your grill-shaking division wants to take such a keen diode-blowing interest in how I run my solder-wicked division, I'm sure I can release the tire-bursting tapes from the brig. Would that satisfy you, Skyfire?//

// First, two individuals with different backgrounds, training, mindsets will perceive the same event differently, filtered through their expectations and preconceptions. I'm sure you've run into this enough times. I have heard how you see things; I'd like to hear Perceptor's point of view, and any one else's that was present. //
// Second, you are in the security business, Kup, and you know that if people suddenly start behaving at odds with their established character, it would be remiss not to ask questions--and trying to deflect questions with an appeal to personal honor raises yet more questions. I have been lied to in the past by someone who was very good at it, and deflected all the little things that didn't add up with the assurance of past and continued friendship, and feigned hurt at the idea I didn't trust him.//
// In short, I will question things that don't add up. Consider how this looks from the outside, and perhaps you will understand my concern. //
A momentary pause. // You are in a position of considerable power as head of Security. I do believe that we should take an interest in how you run your division; secrecy combined with power breeds fear and suspicion. That's not the way Autobots do things, I hope. And yes, I would like to see the tapes. You have offered them to demonstrate your trustworthiness; I am obliged to look at them, then. //
// Finally, I work with Perceptor, and perhaps I can provide some insight or council that would avoid the need for anyone to throw anyone in the brig in the future. //

//It ain't a matter of 'personal honor,' it's a matter of slagging trust, something that not one of you slaggers seems to think I warrant today, which is getting real old, real fast.// Apparently, the moral lectures given to the already crankier-than-usual old man did nothing to improve his attitude. //But stresch,1 guess I shouldn't be too surprised. I was the idiot who had Springer as my second, and didn't even cue into this business.//
//Files unlocked to you,// he snaps, //whenever you've got free time and a terminal.//
1 What does this mean? Who knows? Kup is not limited to English or Cybertronian when it comes to swearing.

OOC: Emirate Xaaron's player has been on vacation and hasn't been at computer as much as usual, hence him not interjecting much.
//Skyfire, imagine if you discovered that Springer was your research assistant and falsified a million years' worth of your ephemeris data, rendering several of your published papers completely erroneous. I think you would be feeling rather raw and upset.//
//Right now, we need to figure out just how much Springer has endangered us all, himself included. As it stands, Autobot Broadband has been compromised for weeks. I'll be putting a communications specialist on figuring out what all leaked shortly.//

// Emirate Xaaron, if you remember, I had a rather similar experience shortly after arriving here, // Skyfire replies drily. // I understand that we have a serious compromise, and that Kup is upset. But when I hear there is a compromise and several people start acting in an unusual manner, some cross-checking is in order, don't you think? //
// The medical scanner is ready for Springer and anyone else, // he adds.

//I do recall, Skyfire. The thing is, when people are upset, telling them that they are acting irrationally usually does not help much - and Kup, I expect that you know that, too.//
//I would not exactly say Perceptor was acting in an unusual manner. Perceptor has a distinct tendency to consider details instead of the big picture, which is understandable, considering what he is. To him, one single patient is everything. However, considering that Springer has and may still be endangering us all, some sacrifices in his comfort have to be made to assure the safety of all of us, something Perceptor was having difficulty accepting.//
//However, if you want to scan the lot of us, when you're done Springer, you may as well.//

Kup just grunts.
This whole business is making him about as torqued as Springer's stunt ever did.

After a few moments, Kup adds, //You know what, Skyfire? On second thought, add Perceptor to that list, because he is off. Though I'm hoping it's because the idiot just hasn't been getting any proper defrag cycles, again.//

// Acknowledged. A basic diagnostic check should show when Perceptor last defragged, // Skyfire replied.
// And I will take you up on that offer, Emirate Xaaron. It might be useful to have baselines of our mental scans from post-battle, when everyone is still a bit agitated. I believe our standard scans from the medical exam were from a mostly calm, neutral state // (he means 'bored mindless').
A few moments later Skyfire adds, // If I understand you correctly, Perceptor more-or-less asked to be brigged? If I were the betting type, I'd bet you a tankard of Benzedrine Dark that we will find out he is in severe need of defragging. //

//I am the betting type, and I wouldn't take you up on that one. 'Course, by the time we get to scanning him, he might have gotten his defrag, and if that happens, I ain't complaining.//
//I will be complaining if it turns out I'm gonna have to brig him regular just to make sure he takes his blasted naps on a regular basis, though.//
