Having been in enough military actions and very familiar with his intended role, Slider heads for the three parked vehicles after leaving the tent and witnessing the exchange. As he heads their way he slips into his alt-mode, leaving his wheels out. He had a feeling he'd need to conserve all the energon he could spare.
He revs twice as a signal and then takes off down the road, speeding up slowly as he judges the maximum speed the ATVs and their drivers can handle.

Jetfire tosses Breakaway a grin and a salute then follows him out of the tent as the meeting adjourns.
Being some sort of futuristic jet-blob rather than any sort of realistic air craft, Jetfire's alt-mode doesn't even have the necessary equipment to use a runway. Instead he simple transforms, hovers in place for a moment, then rockets into the sky.
Time to toast some enemy jets!

OOC: Skipping Skyfire due to time-out.
Seeing Skyblast transform, reinforces how tiny he is (comparatively, mind you) and it gives Breakaway second thoughts. Should he really be sending Skyblast and Jetfire off without wingbots? Should he have let Slider go through with his ambush plan? His optics crinkle in a smile as the thought occurs to him that if he's going to be in charge, he needs this training as much as anyone else. //Keep it tight, 'bots. No-one go jetting off so far you're beyond aid if you run into hostiles,// he transmits, perhaps to reassure himself as much as anything. Not that any of his worries show in his tone of voice; that's just part of being awesome all the time.
The retrofitted truck and the ATVs roll off after Slider, forming up behind him. Their drivers and gunners look nervous as they head off down the road.
Once his wingbot is ready, Breakaway will transform and head down the road as well, gaining altitude quickly. Simulated Optimus Prime and the convoy will also get underway. The fliers, naturally, will have to slow down to avoid overshooting them.

Skyblast is about 15 feet long. There are drones bigger than him.
He supposes he ought to add to his 'to-do' list 'fret over Jetfire'. Maybe 'fret over Skyfire', too? File the imaginary paperwork for this imaginary missions after it's over.
Buh. Responsibility is hard! Skyblast is not sure he's cut out for this! If Breakaway dies and passes on the Aviator Shades of Leadership, Skyblast is going to punch Breakaway until he comes back to life.
Skyblast flies off, staying down low in the weeds, trying to keep a watch of what's both above, below, to the left, to the right, behind, ahead...

Slider does indeed keep it tight. Eventually they settle into a swift and steady pace. Without the trees to slow them, the fliers should have no problem reaching them if there is trouble. In the meantime Slider keeps his optics peeled for any trouble.

Skyfire steps out of the tent and does a running transform, folding his nose down into shuttle mode and deploying his jets before his legs fold up and under the awkwardly hopping jet-thing. Then he zooms up into the sky, rapidly catching up with Breakaway until he's flying wingtip-to-wingtip.
"Skyfire reporting for duty, sir," he says jauntily, waggling his swing-wings. Breakaway may well notice the proton cannon slung under each wing, and didn't Skyfire mention something about missiles, too?

//Yes sir!// he responds to Breakaway's order. Sorry, Breakaway, there's no avoiding it. Sentinel Prime has him too well trained.
Jetfire circles high above the convoy, more like a vast vulture than a predatory bird. His attention sweeps across the sky as he goes, looking for any sign of enemy fliers. Though if he's up here too long with no action, he may start adding some unnecessary barrel rolls and loops to his flight pattern.

Skyblast won't see much, other than the terrain, and perhaps a startled avian or three, though he may catch a glimpse of camouflage netting.
Slider and his group also probably won't see much, unless they're very, very observant or very, very lucky. If they're not, Slider is about to drive over a minefield. They're anti-infantry mines, scaled for Nebulans, but they're likely still unpleasant to drive over.
Breakaway dips his wings back at Skyfire, returning the salute as he forms up with the shuttle.
Jetfire, who is carefully looking for airborne threats, will find that the enemies on the ground are not paying him the same courtesy. The missile streaking toward him out of the trees is the only warning he's going to get that he's under attack, unless someone noticed the concealed Hive infantry in time.

The tiny Valkyrie does not even see the camouflage netting yet. He does, however, see that missile, and he calls out, //Jetfire, watch your six! SAMs!//
Skyblast doesn't follow after the missile or anything like that, however. He tries to find the SAM site and, if he can, he lines up a strafing run on it with his electrostatic cannon. If he can't find it, Skyblast keeps looking. Staying down in the weeds and shooting the weeds when they get uppity is his assigned task, after all.

Skipping people due to time out.
If there's one thing Jetfire is adept at after Elite Guard training, it's dodging surface-to-air fire. Jinking nimbly out of the missile's current path, he loops around to shoot it out of the air for good measure with a fireball, before speeding away from the resulting explosion. Further missiles will send him into a series of necessary barrel rolls and loops.
//I am on the top of it!// he replies to Slyblast.

Skyfire notes that Skyblast and Jetfire are attending to the SAM site--three would be a crowd. The big white shuttle keeps his sensors on alert, looking for more hidden launch sites...
Or aerial opponents.

Skyblast finds the SAM site, such as it is, concealed under the camo netting he didn't see earlier. It's pretty obvious now though, what with the fact that there's a squad of black-armored Hive infantry scattering from it in all directions. One of them has a shoulder-mounted rocket launcher. (When you are human-sized, and you have a weapon that takes a good bit of time to reload, and you shoot at a giant robot and miss? You run.) Depending on what the burst radius is on his cannon, Skyblast may or may not be able to take out the whole squad in one pass. Whichever ones he hits will pretty much be reduced to grease stains, though, despite their personal shields and hyper-alloy armor.
Skyfire's attention to detail will pay off, as he does indeed spot a hidden launch site. Currently launching from it are two Nebulan fightercraft. One is a garish neon green, and the other is a pleasant eggshell-ish creme-y color. (Either the totalitarian Hive allows its fighter pilots a lot of leeway when it comes to paint jobs, or these are Decepticons.) As they gain altitude, it become apparent that they've both got odd-looking vaguely gun-shaped structures attached behind their cockpits. They're angling for Jetfire, but at such an angle that Skyfire and Breakaway can intercept them.
//Bandits, two o'clock low,// Breakaway warns, rolling over onto one wing to line up his sights on the green aircraft. //I've got good tone. Fox two!// he declares, launching a missile. Said missile gets relatively close to its target before being prematurely detonated by a bolt of purple lightning from the weapon on top of Green.

In theory, Skyblast's cannon can knock out fliers out of the air with one shot. His tech spec says that could happen. So maybe the whole squad goes blooey! And maybe it doesn't. Either way, Skyblast quickly turns around and lines up a second pass to make slagging sure that the whole squad is dead, because he's a movie Autobot, and that's how they roll, even when they're flying, not rolling. Since they're scattering, if he can only get one, he tries to go after the one with the rocket launcher.
He's not going to spend a lot of time on this, though, because it could be a trap, and even if it's not, it could also be a waste of time, and he has more ground to cover.
Skyblast would rather be up against those fighters. His wings itch.

But if Skyfire and Breakaway intercept them, then what will Jetfire get to do? Then again, it's looking like those enemy aircraft may be trickier to take down than they look, so he may yet see some action!
Jetfire moves into place to attack them if they keep coming, but doesn't drop his altitude. His job is to stay up here and not set the forest on fire! Let the enemy try and catch him.

Skyfire comes in fast, playing wingman to Breakaway, and fires his proton cannon at Green Guy. Can he intercept beams, too? He slips to one side, trying to throw off the expected counterfire from Green and Pastel.
// Covering you on Green, Breakaway! //
