Mayday responds to Skyfire first, because, well... ships. What self-worth he has is pretty much all invested in his skill with spacecraft. "I, um, sure. Okay. I can shuttles. Er, I mean-! Nnh. Eheh."
Palming his face shield, he quickly faces Perceptor instead of continuing to fail at language to Skyfire. He'll fail at language to Perceptor instead. He tries out a couple of odd and incomprehensible syllables, but finally mumbling, "I feel ridiculous."
All that fuss over this? Really, Mayday? Now don't you feel embarrassed. He lets out a huffed whine, the corners of his mouth twitching downwards. What he wants to do is go find a corner to go sulk in, but he's not going to tell Perceptor that.

"I think that sounds like an excellent suggestion, Skyfire. What do you think, Mayday?" Perceptor asks. He can read the signs of Mayday's self-deprecation, though, and kneels beside the smaller blue mech.
"Mayday," he offers softly, "our fears and phobias do not require a logical origin. That you have that logical origin - inflicting a hectic and stressful medical unit upon a young and inexperienced mechanism is the height of idiocy, in my opinion - offers you a better opportunity to confront those fears. Which you did. You could have remained out in the corridor, regardless of my urging or Kup's orders... but you did not."
"This is not the nightmare of your youth; I have but very few patients remaining, and those individuals are calm and clean. But it is a medical unit, and you have, under your own power, stepped across the threshold. You should be proud of your accomplishment. I am proud of your accomplishment, and even if this is not the frightening vision you were expecting, you have taken that first step. And the next time will be easier."
"Do not be angry at yourself for having doubts and fears; everyone does."

Skyfire glances up when Mayday replies. "Thank you, Mayday. When you are ready."
He smiles at Perceptor, and quietly returns to his studies. Best not to focus too much attention on Mayday, the poor Bot already seemed rather self-conscious and embarrassed.

"Mmhm," Mayday says, nodding in agreement that Skyfire's suggestion is good even as he stares at the floor. His gaze slowly moves from the floor to Perceptor as the scientist reassures him, and much to his embarrassment, his bottom lip begins to quiver. He's just lucky he doesn't have tear ducts, otherwise he'd probably be blubbering all over the place.
Perceptor is so nice. Almost too nice, when he doesn't really have any reason to like Mayday at all. It's hard for him to handle! And he's also so very grateful. More than he can say. All he can manage is to stutter out, "Th-thank-you."
He'll have to... have to... build. Something. For Perceptor. He doesn't know what, but something, to show his appreciation.

"You are quite welcome, Mayday," Perceptor replies. If Mayday had[/i[ started blubbering, it could have been messy; Perceptor probably would have joined him out of failed frustration.
"Now, do you wish to see if you can exit and then enter again without assistance, or would you like to work with Skyfire and his shuttle manual?" he asks, putting the option - and thus, a sense of power, hopefully - into Mayday's hands.

"I, uh, unh," Mayday starts, his mouth trying to state his decision before his mind has made it. He looks to the door. What he wants most is to walk out that door, but unfortunately if he does he'll have to walk back in, and that's the last thing he wants to do. On the other hand there's Skyfire and talking about shuttles. Sure, he'd still be in the medbay, but... working on ships has always been centering for him. If he has to be in medbay, might as well be in medbay talking about ships?
He hunches, rubbing a hand over the back of his head. "I think... maybe... Skyfire?"
It's not that he doesn't like you, Perceptor! He thinks you're a really swell guy now! Not that he thought anything bad about Perceptor before but- SHUTTLES. Thinking about shuttles is easier.

Perceptor waits patiently as Mayday works through the choices, his expression flickering with the thoughts parading through his processor. Perceptor can be patient, as long as Mayday needs to make a decision.
And then he does.
"Excellent," he replies, smiling. "Skyfire? May we impose upon you now?"
Don't worry, Mayday; Perceptor isn't offended that you chose shuttles. He thinks it's a good idea, actually.

Skyfire looks up from the datapad he's studying. "Of course. Mayday, let me copy you this manual and we can go over it together. I'm particularly concerned with the long-range engine maintenance regime now, though I have also been reviewing the basics of patching the airfoils without impairing their atmospheric performance."
He gets out a second, clean datapad and copies the relevant files, then pushes it towards Mayday. Mayday will find that it is the manual for a VF-1S Super Valkyrie Long-Range Shuttle, with some significant customizations. Further study will eventually reveal that the customizations include a lasercore and transformation capability.

Mayday scuttles over to the desk and gingerly picks up the datapad, starting to scan through it. "I always liked running full maintenance checks on my ship's engines whenever possible, but I know some people don't like taking that much time and effort when a quick tune-up will usually do, but I figure it saves a lot of trouble in the long run by avoiding the occasional big problems that quick checks won't catch-"
He continues rambling on about the merits of frequent engine overhauls and tangentially related topics, then suddenly pauses. He stares at the data pad then looks up at Skyfire then back at the data pad then back... A couple of odd expressions flicker across his face before settling on 'vaguely perplexed', and he says, "...Transformer systems kind of mess with the efficiency of a shuttle design, huh?"

Spy Shot is still watching the fabricator work with rapt attention, even as he listens to the conversation going on around him and dutifully records it to his memory. He's not really an impatient person and is perfectly willing to sit around in one place until he gets bored.
Of course, the moment he gets bored he'll get up and wander off somewhere. Some aspects of his self-control could probably use a little work.

Perceptor will leave Mayday in Skyfire's capable hands, and return to the fabricator to continue working on all the various parts, pieces, and bits of cosmetic plating that still need to be done. Which gives him a chance to converse with and check Spy Shot over again to see how his repairs are holding.

Skyfire gives Mayday an encouraging smile. "That they do, though most of the compromises were made with the alternate mode, not the shuttle function. The necessity to keep mass down so that no flight endurance was lost resulted in very thin armor in either mode. Hence the frequent need for repairs in hostile environments."
Sure, ready to fade
