Slugslinger, who has been phoning in his attendance while he sits on pilot watch, now makes his presence known in the odd silence after Scourge's announcement. His radio squawks on a public band that likely everyone can hear and it squawks loudly – piercing-loud as he tests for malfunctions he knows aren't there.
//Lemme make sure I heard you right,// he pipes up once he's through. For effect, since he's sure there are cameras everywhere around here, he's leaning forward with both hands on the console just as his shocked, shaken tone might suggest. //Shockwave just… disappeared? Poof?//

"Preeeeetty much," Needlenose answers Slugslinger, chosing now to speak up. It should be obvious to anyone looking at him that the news doesn't take him by surprise. He's pretty calm about the whole thing, really.
Scourge and Starscream not fighting over who gets to lead. That's a surprise, but one he's had time to get used to.

Fleetwind's optics open a touch wider, but he doesn't look particularly shocked. He's from a universe where the Decepticon leadership is fairly stable, but at the same time, attempts at the top spot are certainly common enough. He does look between Scourge and Starscream thoughtfully, perhaps calculating how much a tussle between the two would endanger him.

Counterpunch's optic band brightens and he straightens, paying more obvious attention at the revelation. Of course, he tends to pay quite a bit of attention to everything, but for the moment he's being obvious about it.
He lifts his right hand to his chin and tilts his head slightly, giving Starscream a speculative look. Then he turns his gaze to Scourge, and his optic band narrows slightly in suspicion.

Post by Hellbender on Apr 21, 2011 13:09:36 GMT -5
Hellbender's optics narrow sharply and his main power-train rumbles, a heavy beat that permeates the room, so low as to be almost subsonic.
"Who'd you send out to sweep nearby space in case it was a short-range jump?" he growls. "And did anyone bother to tell the Bridge to deccelerate and circle, or would that have been too much effort?" Hellbender's fingers flex, a stacatto tap-tap-tap against his palms. His shoulder-mounted laser whines softly, the targetting recticule a third red eye.
Was it Starscream or Scourge or both of them? Hellbender doesn't know, and hasn't thought anything through yet. That it might be really an accident doesn't even occur to him; it's too convenient, too obvious an excuse... Decepticon warlords don't have real accidents, nor do they commit suicide. Hellbender is no subtle plotter, to figure out the ins and outs of intrigue--he likes his enemies obvious and open, so he can smash them down.
Just give him an excuse.

Post by Turmoil on Apr 22, 2011 14:52:08 GMT -5
Turmoil is hardly surprised by the announcement. His previous observations were correct, Shockwave wasn't in the picture anymore. The fact that this change of command happened without shed energon or Starscream getting a hole shot though him was a little more surprising.
What wasn't surprising or unclear was what Turmoil's duty was now. There was a command structure for a reason. Scourge was now their commander. It was that simple. What was also simple was that Hellbender was targeting his superiors with a whining shoulder weapon. The same sense of duty demanded that he deal with a potential threat before it became a problem for Scourge or Starscream.
Without a word, Turmoil stood and stalked up to the front row to take a place behind the former mining worm, his cannon ready, and then spoke with an even, yet forceful, tone, "Power down the weapon Hellbender. I want to hear what our new commander has to say."

Post by Bonecrusher/Bane Crusher on Apr 22, 2011 15:23:05 GMT -5
Bonecrusher lets out a low, bitter chuckle at the news. Good riddance, he thinks. It'd be wrong to say that he's happy about Shockwave's disappearance, but he's definitely rocking some powerful schadenfreude. Old one eye is near the top of his long list of 'People I Really, Especially Hate', and the only regret he'd have if they never heard from Shockwave again is that he didn't get a chance to tear into that purple slagger for installing a control device in him.
His enjoyment of the moment is tempered by the announcement that Scourge is now in charge, and Bonecrusher hates that one almost as much as he does Shockwave. At the moment, Bonecrusher would support Starscream just out of spite for Scourge.
Unfortunately, Starscream is going to stab him in the back in a couple of days, and he'll decide they can both go melt in the Pit together.

Needlenose has answered Slugslinger for Scourge. This is good, because Scourge would rather get on with his plans for the future. However, Slugslinger isn't the only one who wishes to interrupt. Ah, Hellbender. Shockwave's personal suck-up and attack dog. Without fear or any backing down, Scourge tilts his helm to shade over his optics, and he growls, "I said the Mayhems investigated, Hellbender. If you wish to question their methodology, that's your problem."
Hey, maybe Oil Slick and Needlenose did pull Starscream, Dark Skyfire, and Blast Off to go looking around in near space for Shockwave. They could have.
Turmoil gets some brownie points in Scourge's mind, however. Scourge's been thinking about splitting military into air and ground, and while Turmoil has no field experience in this blasted exile reality, his file looked promising as a potential lead for ground.
Now Scourge explains what he wants to explain, "If you asked most of us what our goal is here, I think they'd say, 'Go home and kill the Autobots/Maximals.' Some of us might say, 'Kill the Autobots/Maximals here and go home.' Some might say, 'Stay here,' or, 'Go home with someone else.' All of this is thinking too small."
"In order to 'go home', we need to be able to breach the barriers between the realities in order to reach one specific time and place. So someone very clever might say, 'Go back to the start of the war with a large amount of bombs and new technology.' That's still thinking too small."
"We have evidence of beings that could potentially communicate between realities." That Bird on Pz-Zazz. "We need that technology for ourselves."
"Those of who aspire to nothing better than to 'go home' may have that pitiful destiny and good riddance. The rest of us - we journey to the dawn of time, the branch point from which every universe springs, and we exist there - and therefore exist in every possible universe, in simultaneous communication with every possible version of ourselves, each of us one mind with infinite bodies and a head start on the universe that our enemies will never be able to match. That is our direction when we have the technology to take us there."
Yes, this is why Scourge wouldn't tell Starscream what his idea was.

There's a momentary pause before a raucous laugh erupts from Cannonball, he pointing up at Scourge. "Oi, I already like you better'n old one-eye! You got motivation, aspirations..." Cannonball smirks with a low chuckle. "Aspirations I rather like."

Blackarachnia has been quietly listening from the bevy of background characters. Seeing as she knew the reason for this meeting she is not surprised by the announcement of Shockwave's leave of absence. Others were expected to be... slightly upset. Like Hellbender. Who Blackarachnia has positioned herself near.
She tries to catch Scourge's eye and then cuts her own toward the wurm. A word, and it will be nighty-night, even if inwardly she's hesitant. That's a lot of power to absorb.
Then Scourge unveils his grand plan, which Blackarachnia did not know. The spider's jaw drops open. Scourge... is ambitious.
She smiles. Ambitious, powerful... and hers.
Even if he doesn't quite know it yet.

Needlenose's optics go wide and blaze a bright white as Scourge puts forth his idea. He stands straight up, no longer casual, and his antennae are both tilted in different directions. "I... what makes you sure that would even work that like?"
On the one hand, ambition of this level rather uncomfortably reminds Needlenose of Thunderwing, but on the other... well, at least he's seeking it for all of them?
For now.

Fleetwind tilts his head and purses his lips for a moment, considering this.
Fleetwind has never exactly been power hungry by Decepticon standards, but that's largely because advancement in the Decepticon ranks is often by way of knife in the back, and he's never wanted to advance high enough to make his back an enticing target.
But this... this...
It is not the power that appeals to Fleetwind, but he does have another kind of ambition. An ambition of survival. And this would make him unkillable.
Immortal.
That pastel Seeker smiles. Yes, he could certainly get behind a plan like this.

Counterpunch continues to look bored. In fact, he shakes his head and glances towards the ceiling in a manner that suggests 'yeah, right.' "Sounds like the plot of a bad sci-fi movie," he mutters, just loud enough to be heard.
Anything to sow doubt. He himself has doubts that this would even work, but... if there's even the slightest chance...
He's going to have to get a warning out.

Hellbender let his weapon power down; too many people had their attention on him for him to take down... anyone that might need it. He turns his head to glare at Needlenose, and then back at Scourge. "Ah'll look into that later. Sir."
Then Scourge carries on with his plans and Hellbender just stares, flabbergasted. "Damn. You don't think small, do you? Ah don't think Megatron himself came up with a plan like that!"
...even he wasn't that insane, Hellbender finished silently to himself.
