Month 3, Week 1, Day 2, Semi-private
Mirage has spent some time considering what transpired on yesterday's pilot watch. He has come to certain conclusions which do not please him.
What Sentinel did was not just low, it was highly unethical. It is the sort of thing that, if brought to light, could severely damage the Prime's reputation. Not that long ago, Mirage would have been quick to try and ruin Sentinel, payback for his high-handedness. But the Chinned Wonder is shrewd, whatever else he may be, and certainly isn't going to let the evidence that show what happened come to light. It would be word against word, and neither of them are particularly well setup for such a campaign.
Still, it needs to be discussed. Leaving it lay rankles.
Mirage is mulling over this problem when a flame-colored Winnebago takes the turn up ahead on two wheels. The spy leaps and presses himself against the side of wall as Rodimus goes flying past.
Timing.
//Rodimus! Do you have a moment?// Mirage uses his radio in case the Prime gets out of hearing range too quickly.

Emirate Xaaron told Rodimus Prime that he should transform more often, and what's the point of transforming if you don't have a little fun with it? Rodimus is just following orders! Honest!
(Because he's always been sooooo good about following other people's orders.)
He's also confident enough in his driving to fully believe that he's not going to hurt anyone else, and besides, the passage ways of Autobot ships tend to be built wide specifically to allow vehicles to drive through them. It just makes sense in ships and buildings made by and for people who can turn into cars.
He bounces a bit as he comes back down to all four wheels, and is almost around the next corner when Mirage radios him. He starts to screech into a stop, his back end swinging out. Before he's completely turned around, he starts to transform, finishing the move on his feet and facing the spy, a faint smirk pulling at his lips. "Hey, Mirage. What's up?" he asks, moving back towards the other with a confident bounce to his step.

Mirage smirks mirror's Rodimus's, and the spy doesn't hide his appreciation for the Prime's display of grace and skill. Rodimus know Mirage thinks him lovely; what's more, the Prime knows he's lovely. Why pretend otherwise?
"You're looking well, and I take it from your display of exuberance that you are feeling well today," Mirage says, then he teases, "Though perhaps you should enter in the database what halls you are using for racing practice, so we can either avoid them or join you as desires dictate."
One the Prime is close enough that Mirage need no longer raise his voice, Mirage's tone and expression switches from teasing to serious.
"Do you perhaps have a few moments for private conversation? As I recall, there is an unused conference room near here."

Rodimus snorts and waves off Mirage's suggestion. "That would take waaaaay too much paperwork and pre-planning. Joyrides are supposed to be spontaneous!" His strut gets perhaps a bit more cocky as he finishes approaching the spy, once he can tell he's being looked over. Mirage is right. Rodimus does know that he's lovely, and he appreciates being appreciated.
As Mirage gets more serious, however, so does Rodimus. He frowns at the switch and nods faintly. "Yeah, I've got the time." He starts to move towards the conference room. "I know the one you're talking about." The Event Horizon, due to its partitioned nature, tends to have a lot of duplicate rooms. Really, the Autobots only need one conference room, if even that, but on the other hand, if they ever run out of quarters, some of the extra spaces can be easily re-purposed.

"Thank you," Mirage says as he moves to walk next to the Prime. It's tempting to lace his arm with Rodimus's, but Mirage refrains. Yes, Mirage could use the comfort that he tends to get from such closeness, but the spy doesn't wish to open up that particular subject at the moment.
One they are both settled, Mirage repeats his thanks, "I do appreciate this. I'd prefer not to bother you, but- of those I would trust with such a confidence, you are perhaps best suited..."
Mirage shrugs one shoulder, "I... need a friend to speak to at the moment, Rodimus, not a commander. Some of what I say I would prefer not to be shared. Is that possible?"

Rodimus settles into one of the conference room seats, slumped back in a rather informal manner as he twists the chair near enough that he can set elbow on table and head on fist. He frowns at Mirage's request then cautions, "Well, if I think anyone would be in danger from me not sharing, I'm going to have to share."

Mirage can't help but give Rodimus another appreciative look over. The spy shakes his head, smiling slightly. "You really do have a good sense of exactly how to show yourself off. A casual, almost indifferent attitude, though knowing your worth all the same. It's a hard thing, yet you do it so naturally."
He sighs, "No, I don't think anyone else will be in any danger from this. It is a personal issue, I think."
"At any rate, first off, something that is a little more public. I... know that it was a tacitly understood thing that the full details of Hound's arrival would not become public record and I appreciate that fact. However, I have been considering things and... I think that they should."
Mirage shifts a bit in his seat. That he finds that incident difficult to discuss is obvious.

Rodimus's optics flicker at Mirage's compliment. He looks a bit befuddled. "I actually hadn't intended to show off intentionally just then!" he protests. Apparently, he's just an instinctual show-off.
Actually, that's probably true.
He nods at Mirage's request. "Well, all right. We can do that. I don't see any reason to advertise the log update, though, unless you really want me to. It'll be there if people want to look it up in the database. But... why the change?"

Mirage just grins at Rodimus's protest. "My point exactly, love."
"No, actually, I'd prefer you did not advertise it. If people have questions or concerns, they know the people they can bring such to."
The spy toys with the arm of his chair for a few moments after Rodimus asks why. At length, the spy shrugs a shoulder and says, "I will be joining the Elite Guard."
Not applying. Not trying out for. Joining. The way Mirage says it does not indicate he speaks from arrogance or over -confidence, but that his membership is a forgone conclusion. Because really, if Sentinel would let Mirage flunk out, why go to all this trouble, hmm?

Rodimus is just doomed to stay confused in this conversation, isn't he? Especially when Mirage responds to his question with a statement that seems to have little to do with it.
"I could see how you'd be useful, but I thought you weren't a team pl-" and then his optics open wide as he remembers who, exactly, was there for Hound's arrival. "Wait."

"I am not a team player, no," Mirage finishes Rodimus's comment, seemingly ignoring Rodimus's exclamation, "However it has been pointed out on more than one occasion that I should be more of one. I thought perhaps this might help me learn to better function in the dynamic."
"Especially after having it pointed out to me exactly how important someone like me on a diplomatic team would be," Mirage scowls, letting his expression show his true distaste for the situation. "I don't want anything done about it, Rodimus, I simply want to remove that arrival as a weapon against me, and I need to vent about it a bit."

Rodimus's lips pull into a deeper frown and his optics narrow. "Mirage, you might not want anything done about it, but if he's blackmailing people to get them on the team, that needs to be looked into." He taps the table-top lightly. So frustrating, this whole 'responsibility' thing! It puts him in such awkward positions sometimes!
"I mean, what if it's not just you?"

Mirage waves a hand to try and still Rodimus's protests, "I'm fairly certain that, based on who else has applied, he only worked his unique charms upon me. And really, if I were not so... sensitive over the issue, it would not have worked."
"I perhaps should have let him make good on his threat. Had I thought it through, I would have realized that his doing so would likely have resulted in him being at best dressed down soundly."
He reaches out and tries to place a hand on Rodimus's arm, "Please, like I said, I don't want anything done. He'll find that it's public and realize that hold isn't there." Mirage smiles nastily, "And then he can worry about exactly why I'm still staying in the Guard."

Rodimus raises a brow-ridge and straightens up, only to slump back in his seat. The right corner of his lip pulls upwards, but it's a dubious smirk at best that he gives the spy. "And just why are you still staying in the Guard?"

Mirage's smile fades and he shifts uncomfortably in his seat.
"No matter how I try, I seem to always be upsetting people. The worst offenses seem to happen without my even realizing them, only to be thrown back at me at in opportune times. Such as with Sentinel- he claims I horribly embarassed him in front of yourself and Glyph, and that is why he felt no qualms about treating me so ill."
He gives Rodimus an imploring look as he continues, "But I have replayed the conversation many times, and I do not see where I erred. I can often tell when I've made such a gaff after the fact, even if I didn't see it at the time, but...." Mirage shrugs.
"Maybe if I have to interact with a varied company on a regular basis, instead of choosing my own company, I'll be able to discern the problem."
Of course, most Mirage never do figure out the problem. That's why their tech specs all say they are untrustworthy jackafts. In more kid-friendly language, of course.
