"She handed me her phone and told me to calls you in case of an emergency. Now she's wandered off down a stairwell without her phone, and I can't really follow her, because... uhm.... because."

There is silence, because that's not shady at all. Then there is a demand, "Why?"
It is possible that Esprit is looking at a phone trace already.

"There was this shady guy who saw us having lunch about a week back, and now he came to my door, and he was lying about living in my apartment complex, because he totally doesn't, I know everyone's names, so she followed him out, because that's what detectives do, and - you still haven't said if you're Detective Hunt," her voice grows suspicious.
