//Hey, Swerve, you read me? If so, answer up.//
The tone of the answer - rude and angry, insanely polite, or one right after another - should clue Kup into who can hear this frequency and who can't.

There's a distinct pause before Swerve answers. It's that or sigh heavily and snarl in exasperation. He sounds like he'd rather be tearing down the road at top speed than talking at the moment.
//Whaddayou want this time?//

The handy thing about that distinct pause? It would have given other people a chance to speak up, if they were hearing to speak.
//Now that's the Swerve I know!// Kup answers cheerfully.
//As for what I want, I'm just checkin' to see who can hear it when I call out on this frequency.//

//…"The Swerve you know"? What the smelt is that s'posed to mean?// Did that Swerve from Perceptor's reality show up or something? //And who else would hear this? It's my frequency, for Primus's sake!//
Swerve takes a moment to avoid facepalming; this is starting to feel like Leadfoot showing up at Swerve's garage with a barrel of the Junction's finest rot in his tanks, only long distance.
//You over-energised or somethin', oldtimer?//

//Naw. Don't know if you've heard about this, but there's been a trend where folks with the same name across different universes have had the same frequency.// Swerve would, of course, know about that, since it's how Perceptor got Swerve's frequency, but Kup isn't aware of this. //At least, that's how it's worked up until now. Right now, I'm standing here looking at a fellow, he's got your face, he's got your looks, but he sure don't have your way with words, and he doesn't seem able to hear me right now.//

//…Yeah, I heard,// Swerve confirms grudgingly, very much annoyed by this fact. //Was how Perceptor got hold o' me. Said he knows a–// The racer stops there when his audio buffers catch up with his processors catch up with his vocorder.
Kup's looking at what?
//…Someone… someone who looks like me?// he asks. Kup can't see his face, but his expression reads crystal-clear confusion. //But…?//

//Shouldn't be too surprised, Swerve. At this rate, was only a matter of time before we got a duplicate of someone.// Although, truth be told, Kup wouldn't have guessed it to be Swerve. //Truth is, though, this isn't quite the same situation. Seems like, just like there are different realities, there are different realities where what's happening here is happening, and looks like one of them just broke through.//
//Look, Swerve, don't worry about it. The only reason I called you was to figure out whether or not our frequencies were safe, y'know? Focus on your mission, and I'll give you the full rundown over a cube or something when you get back.//

Duplicates? There's a copy of Swerve running around with his face, his chassis… someone not-him but still him. Sort of. But he's the only him. And he's out here in the desert.
On a mission. Right.
//Y… yeah.//
