Locked to: Upper CoC
Protection level: Pinnacle
Home Reality: Perceptor
Pull-point Timestamp: [Near the end of the Golden Age - About Nine Million Years Ago]
Alternate Form: Interstellar spacecraft large enough to carry other Cybertronians
Known History and Notes: Skyfire is a scientist and explorer pulled from the Golden Age of Cybertron from the Perceptor Reality. He's from between the Second and Third Great Wars, and was built and lived during a time when knowledge of the Second Great War was being suppressed. As a result, before he got yanked here he didn't have much more than clue one about what an Autobot or a Decepticon was, and really, a bit less than clue one, since he didn't even know that we're the good ones. He had just been separated from his partner and crashed into the artic circle of a planet that would later be called Earth, and had he stayed home, he'd have spent the next nine million years napping before the 'Cons found him and dug him out.
His exploration partner was Starscream, who in our history used to be a scientist. This is what lead to the whole, messy business we had to deal with concerning his arrival, since as far as he knew, the person on this planet he had the most reason to trust is Starscream, and we all know how messy trusting Starscream can get. In our own history, he actually joined the Decepticons for a bit, but quickly figured out he had some... philosophical disagreements with he way they run things. This time around, Starscream knew what set him off the first time and was more careful, which is to say he lied a lot more and a lot better, but thanks to some early warnings and us being open without being too pushy, he didn't put on the sharp, purple, and pointy.
Eventually he figured out his 'partner' was lying to him, though, and once he tried to confront Starscream with some discrepancies, Starscream decided his usefulness was up and made a good go at finishing him. He fled, a couple of the jets chased, we bailed him out and patched him up.
Although he's already proven himself plenty useful to have around, he has not yet formally allied himself with us. He wants to take some time and make sure we're not blowing smoke as well, but has stated that if we are what we say we are, he will be signing up. Since we are, I figure it's only a matter of time before he put on the Autobrand, but if he chooses not to, I support us accepting that decision, offering what we can for when he strikes out on his own, and leaving the door open in case he changes his mind. Until he makes up his mind one way or the other, though, please keep in mind that he's technically a civilian and needs to be treated as one. This means we protect him, but it also means we keep an optic on where he goes on his own and what information he has access to.
As one final note: although it's unpleasant to think about, it's possible that the Decepticons mucked with his programming while he was with them and he's an unknowing sleeper agent. I don't want to see him ostracized because of this possibility, because it's probably a slim one, but it does exist.
Another final note: As near as I've been able to determine, the 'Perceptor Realities' are the only ones with a guy named Skyfire, but both the Xaaron/Rodimus and the Mirage realities seems to have a guy named Jetfire who looks about the same.
Oh. Really, really final note: In my history, he dies during in the Quintesson trap that involved returning Optimus Prime from the dead as a revenant. He already knows about this.
Skills, Abilities, Talents: Trained scientist and explorer. Atmospheric, orbital, interplanetary, and interstellar flight. With a full load, can go from Cybertron to Earth and back again, but he sure wouldn't be able to make it either place from here without fueling. Can do a full orbital survey of a planet, and has a load of sensors for doing that, all with fancy technical names. Visual, thermals, magnetics, gravitational, that sort of business. Well armed and capable of self defense - enough so that he was able to blast his way through the Decepticons to make his way here. Research scientist, big interest in intelligent life developments, that sort of thing.
Weaknesses: If you ask him, he'd tell you it's that he gets too antsy staying in one place for too long without something interesting to keep himself occupied. That sounds nice, and that all sounds good and such, but I'm familiar with his files from back home, and a weakness I suspect's more relevant is that outside of them fancy heat-shieldings his armor's a bit on the thin side. Worse, Starscream knows exactly where to hit him where it hurts, and as a result of those two things he was something of a Repair-Bay Commando up until it got bad enough that Optimus transferred him off Earth. Starscream's here, and we've got no where to transfer him.
