Starscream didn't get to his position of rank in the Decepticons without at least some idea about what to do when the chips are down. Millenia of war, oftentimes with fuel supplies are critically low, meant that you either had to learn to refuel as and where you could or you perished. Starscream chose the former.
Starscream connected his cables up, unaware that Starfighter was having trouble. Ah, precious energon. The refueling was already taking away his edginess from the prior battle. As Fleetwind electrocuted himself, Starscream sneered slightly.
The peaceful moment didn't last. When the other units announced their trouble, Starscream sighed audibly. "I can see it's going to be one thing or the other on this desolate rock.."

Starfighter nodded quietly as he refueled without incident. The original feeling of elation he'd gotten from winning the short skirmish was now replaced with a slow, sinking feeling in his shoulders. Perhaps they really were going to die eventually, like Dead End had said.
He curled his knees up slightly and looked down at the ground.

The usual theory was that everyone is going to die eventually, anyway, although Fleetwind had spent a rather long lifetime putting off that eventually for as long as possible.
If he noticed Starscream's sneer, he didn't say anything, but instead nodded in agreement with the Air Commander's pronouncement. Still his expression contained a faint smile as he finished recharging without further mishap and removed the cables. He looks up at Starscream and reports, "Recharge complete, sir."

Skystrike stood where she’d landed, wings twitching nervously as she peered up at the dirigible that still floated slowly, ominously circling in the sky. Even now, seemingly harmless as it was, it made her nervous. It still had teeth for one, and teeth could be pretty dangerous. Sometimes.
Several black burn marks were scattered across her body, but none of them particularly serious. Nothing her internal repairs couldn’t fix. And its not like she’d ever really cared too much about her paintwork anyways, as one could often tell by the patches of different colored blues that often appeared here and there.
The blue jet frowned before turning around to the rest of the group and walking over to help with the wreckage.

If Starscream was worried about impending deactivation, his face wasn't showing it. Indeed, it was difficult for him to consider anything other than the fact that he was already making small victory over small victory, in what will be known as the first year of Supreme Emperor Starscream's rule.
Starscream had also had his fill of energon. He disconnected his cables and packed them away. He'd reclaim the rest of the recharge cables at a later date. As he was hearing about what was happening with Hooks group, he wondered why he bothered why he turned his radio on at all.
He sighs wearily. "Alright, looks as if we're going to have to save the others. Get your fill of energon and then transform. We're heading back to help out Hook." He turned to Skystrike, handing the last two recharge cables over to her. "Skystrike, hurry up and recharge so we can take off. I want everyone on a full tank."
OOC: Welcome back, Skystrike!

"One thing and then another," Starfighter muttered quietly to himself as he folded his cables away and got to his feet. First deranged dirigible...things, and now possessed mining equipment along with whoever the new mechs from elsewhere were and what manner of fortune they brought. Life wasn't going to be dull around here.
Starfighter liked dull.

Since Starscream didn't recollect the cables just yet, Fleetwind coiled his up and sent them to subspace storage, especially since he had arrived too late to have many supplies from the deranged dirigibles to put there. Sure, he'll have to give them back later, but until he has to, they may yet prove useful.
Since Fleetwind was already recharged, he leapt to the air, obeying Starscream's order to transform, and began to gain altitude.
//I'll set up a holding pattern and act as look out until the rest of you are ready,// he explained over the radio.

This day was just turning out more and more weird by the moment and Skystrike was pretty sure she didn’t like this kind of weird. At all. She was also pretty sure that whatever had designed these machines where all mildly crazy. Only mildly though, mind, because thus far she had yet to see anything stranger than the walking killer waste pipes that’d sprung up now and then back on Cybertron.
<i>"Alright, looks as if we're going to have to save the others. Get your fill of energon and then transform. We're heading back to help out Hook. Skystrike, hurry up and recharge so we can take off. I want everyone on a full tank."</i>
“Yes sir.” Skystrike said, taking the wires before briskly proceeding to plug herself in and recharge. As she waited for whatever empty space in her tanks to refill, the jet idly looked through the wreckage nearby, searching for some kind of metal studs or pipes. It’d be useful in the near future if energy expenditure restriction continued.
So, they were going to face a strange drilling machine now. What should be relatively harmless-unless-touched construction equipment going killing was a bit odd. Then again, they’d just seen a toothy dirigible that seemed to have come out of an artist’s dreams.

Starscream did his best to be patient, which was not very patient at all. To Starfighter, he grumbled "And don't forget, we're bound to run into that blasted clumsy Guardian Autobot sooner or later." Not one for pep talks, is our Starscream.
Getting bored and listless, Starscream started levelling his arm in a manner that allowed him to practice aiming with his arm-mounted rifles. He wasn't aiming at anyone or shooting, just practicing his targetting.

"Yes, sir." This wasn't really helping his neuroses. The Autobots were only making things worse; on a fuel-starved planet like this, they wouldn't stop to take prisoners. Starfighter hunched over a bit more and fiddled with a charred bit of dirigible.
"Did you have a specific plan of attack, sir?" Or were they going to be winging it as usual?

Fleetwind sets up a holding pattern, as he said he would, and begins keeping watch. Circly-circle! Twirlie-twirl! Loop-de-loop! The Seeker flies in lazy, irregular curves that only barely count as a "pattern" at all. He's too far up to partake of any conversation going down on the ground, so instead he concentrates on seeing what he can see, monitoring the radios, and staying out of reach of the one remaining dirigible.

Skystrike was also getting a bit impatient and the dirigible floating above them wasn’t making her any less nervous. At least she’d found a good sized pipe to use now. Out of reach at the moment but she could pick it up before getting air borne.
"Did you have a specific plan of attack, sir?"
The blue jet halfway turned to Starscream once more, an inquisitive look on her face. That was a pretty good question. They were likely going to deal with a very powerful mech sometime in the future, a good plan of some sort would be handy to have. An unorganized team going up against a Guardian wasn’t going to have anymore chance of winning than moths going up against Megatron’s fusion cannon. Well, okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration but the point was still there.
On a completely different note, though, her tank was almost full.

"Nothing solid yet. Start by strafing the creature and then we will work out what is needed then." Starscream muttered. All he had to go with was that the ground-pounders were having difficulty with the device and that the only thing the group could agree on was that someone had to be fed to it. Once Skystrike's tank was finally full, Starscream took the charging cables from her and stows them away. "Fleetwind, start scouting ahead. The rest of you, transform and take off." Starscream took a few steps forward before his arms and head tucked in as his wings folded around and he turned once again into an F-15, launching into the air in the direction of Hook's group. OOC: I've got admin approval to assume that Skystrike has finished refuelling, because frankly, I wanted to get this show on the road. Oh, and whoops! It's Fleetwind, not Fleet!

Starfighter did likewise, following Starscream into the air. "And...when we get there, sir?"
Because if large missiles aren't hurting it, there isn't a heck of a lot they can do to it either.

Fleetwind radioed back locally, to Starscream and the others, //Yes, sir!// and he took off ahead at his top speed. Not Starscream's top speed, of course, although he was a lithe little craft. He flew low, both in case the device had a radar sensor system, and so he could get a clearer look at it that much earlier.
The flight out had been at a relatively lazy pace. Moving back in at top speed meant they would probably get there fairly quickly.
Not that Fleetwind intended to do anything besides get a look until he saw what he was up against, but as it was, he was more afraid of Starscream's dangerous intelligence than some automatic mining machine.
