The jets flew eastward at an altitude that was lower than what would be most fuel efficient, but high enough to allow the fliers to take in a fair amount of terrain at once, and to see problems coming from further away. The downside of this, of course, was it also means that problems could see them coming from further away.
Fleetwind flew a bit ahead of the others, as he could see farther than most, anyway. Also, it kept him farther away from Starscream. He occasionally reported back what he saw, transmitting to all three of the others at once. //Those wetlands look pretty unpleasant. I'm glad we don't have to go through that business.// Too much gunk that could get caught up in the intakes and such!
Thus far, Fleetwind had rather cheerful about the whole situation, as though he were perfectly happy to be there on this strange planet for no obvious reason. Which was a good description of the truth!
OOC: Skystrike, Starfighter, Starscream, there's not yet any set order in this thread. Go ahead and post-in whenever you're ready. We won't be adding Starscream to the rotation until he actually returns, so until that point it'll just be me, Skystrike, and Starfighter.

Skystrike has fallen into a moody sullen silence interrupted only by the occasional acknowledging grunt. She hung more at the back of the group, still reluctant to leave the ground convoy alone for any amount of time without aerial support. She knew they could take care of themselves; this wasn’t the urban building filled cities of Cybertron, there was little chance of any successful ambushes, especially in such flat open areas. The old lessons that’d been pounded into her head, however, were proving surprisingly difficult to ignore.
The jet kept her sights on the ground, concentrating on watching the black roads wind through the green and brown mass, looking for any potentially hazardous gaps or bumps in the road. Nothing but a few twigs and the skeletal remains of several animals, thus far. Perhaps they’d been run over by another tank, like the one they’d dealt with last night? If so, how might they deal with it? Could it be a big problem?

The gray F-15 let Fleetwind scout ahead but was at the front of the other three. He struggled to not take off at full speed, where he could probably have easily surpassed the Tetra-Jet. But he felt it was best for him.. as a leader, of course... to fall back and allow Fleetwind to report back to him. He didn't want to get shot at. For morale reasons and all. //I'm only interested in the muddy terrain down there if there are Autobots stuck in it, Fleetwind.// He broadcasted to the rest of the airbound. //When we arrive, Fleetwind, I want you to remain in the air and monitor for Autobots. Starfighter and Skystrike, you two can assist him but keep your radios clear. If energon production is greater than anticipated, we'll need more hands to load up the cubes.//
OOC: Starscream then transformed and pulled out a copy of The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe... just kidding. (In-joke)

Starfighter kept to the rear and hoped that they wouldn't run into trouble. There were no mystical creatures in the grass to blame this time. Still, there were few clues of any Autobots in the area, they'd probably be fine. Unless a tank came along.
//Yes, sir.//

//As you commend, Starscream,// Fleetwind radioed. Easy enough command. Being in the air may mean that he'll be the first spotted by enemy forces, but it also means he'll have a head start on any running away he needs to do.
Hmmm. Wetlands were slowly replaced by dry lands. The Seeker noted with interest that they seemed to be coming up on strange, flat lands that have been parceled out into large, differently colored squares. He considered reporting this fact, then decided that because none of these squares had Autobots in them, Starscream probably wasn't very interested.
Then, multiple small, organic, winged creatures rushed up from apparently nowhere. Fleetwind was unable to avoid them all, and ended up with gooey-fleshling-bits-and-feathers where fleshling-bits-and-feathers ought not go. "Wha-huh-?!" Fleetwind exclaimed as he compensated, easily regaining his balance. //What the smelt was that?!//
OOC: Unless there's an objection or someone has a better idea, I'm going to include a travel-time skip on my next post, although this won't take us all the way there.

//Yes, sir.// Skystrike answered rather dully. It wasn’t until Fleetwind yelled over the radio that she snapped out from concentrating on the ground just in time to spot the fast approaching flock of avian creatures.
//What the--?// Luckily for her, an average seeker’s reaction time was far superior to that of a human’s and she had enough time to pull up to avoid most of the flock. Unfortunately, a few still bumped into her wing and one of them bumped off her cockpit leaving behind a smear of liquid organic material.
//Euck!//

//What the..?// Starscream did his best to try and avoid the flock of flying creatures. He avoided most, but a few splattered on his frame.
//...Excellent scouting.// he grumbled at Fleetwind.
To the rest he radios: //Remember: Keep your weaponry un-powered. If something happens we're going to want to conserve our energon.//

//What are these things?// Starfighter hit a particularly large one and spun around to the side before climbing higher again. He almost wished it would start raining again and wash all this off.
//Bugs? Birds? I think they might be birds.// Organic life needed to stop being so...messy and disorganized. It had too many random pieces hanging off and getting in the way, and Starfighter couldn't detect any of that interdependency of life that people kept talking about in their reports. It all seemed so random.

//My aplogies, sir,// Fleetwind answered Starscream. //I'm still adapting to an organic world.// He fell quiet to concentrate on the scouting, and the journey was without incident for some time. The party passed over a river, and a reasonable sized settlement could be detected from the sky, but as usual, there was no sign of sapient habitation...
...until Fleetwind radioed back to the others, //Something coming up. Something big! And... roundish? Not very aerodynamic!//
OOC: If anyone moves forward to investigate better, we're dealing with dirgibles. Feral dirgibles.
With sharp, pointy dirgible teeth.

She wanted to do something silly. She didn’t know what at the moment, but something silly even though the urge to do said silly thing was already pressed to the back of her mind, like most urges-to-do-silly things were. Skystrike blamed it on the fact that she was actually flying with other seekers again. When was the last time she’d done that? A century ago? Not as long ago as she would’ve liked but almost long enough for her to forget. Rather unfortunate really.
Skystrike did a half roll to content herself before settling back down and making an irritated noise at the muck that was still clinging disgustingly onto her cockpit. Stupid organics and their stupid squishyness.
//Something coming up. Something big! And... roundish? Not very aerodynamic!//
//Oh. Lovely.// More organics? Not more organics, she’d had enough with the avian group already and those were small. Fleetwind had said it was big, and by the tone of his voice, he seemed to mean big, as in potentially-bigger-than-average-seekers, big. Although if it was round and not very aerodynamic though, then whatever the thing was should be too much of a problem. Unless it was armed.
A flying version of the tank perhaps? She wouldn’t be surprised, really: if there was security on the roads, then why not security in the skies? Whatever creatures used to live on this world would certainly capable of building it if they were able to beam energy to power stations and build magna-lift roads.
As Skystrike searched the sky for said ‘thing’, she accelerated slightly, moving forwards into what vaguely resembled a standard attack formation to Starscream’s left. Only vaguely, because who knew what Starscream might want to do when they weren't allowed to use their weapons. Or if whatever it was they were approaching was even dangerous to begin with.
Speaking of which, she’d just spotted the speck in the sky and quickly zoomed in the best she could. Well, whatever 'it' was, it didn’t look that threatening just yet, but better to be prepared than sorry. 'Things' had a funny way of changing first impressions pretty quick from what she'd learned.

//Oh now what..// Starscream mutters, powering up his own weapons for a moment before he remembered his own orders and depowered them.
//If it's not aerodynamic, avoid it. We can destroy it later, after a thorough refueling.// 'We need to destroy it', naturally, being the default solution to all problems Decepticons face. If that later changes to 'We need to trick it into working for us' or 'We need to steal its weapons and reactor' then that will be addressed later.

It's very rare for Starfighter to amend or object to a commander's orders but...
//Sir, if it's a surveillance drone it might have some sort of recording mechanism that we could access. It might have been up here since before this planet's inhabitants moved on and we could find out a little more about what's going on. And if it's being remote controlled from another area, we could trace it back and possibly find the intelligent beings that built it.//

Starfighter could correct all he wanted. Fleetwind was all about avoiding danger!
//Yes, sir. Changing direction now!// the Seeker radioed.
By that point, the dirigibles were within sensor range of the others. There were three of them, large and awkward seeming in the sky. However, not only were they in sensor range of the Seekers, so the Seekers were in their sensor range. The other craft began changing direction, heading, not towards the Seekers, but to a course that would serve to intercept them based on their current heading.

//We can come back later for that later, Starfighter.// Skystrike rumbled over the radio rather distractedly. She liked to think she wasn’t helpless without her weapons but she didn’t want to risk herself unnecessarily against a large, potential enemy.
Without further ado, the blue jet changed directions as well, following after the others. Her sensors noted the rather worrisome change in course that the three alien machines conducted and uttered a low unhappy rumble. Whatever they were, Skystrike didn’t like them.

//If you think you cannot catch up with a surveillance drone, Starfighter," Starscream intoned, //Then perhaps you should go and chase after it, because you are of no use to me.// He changes his vector and noted the UFO was following him. //Decepticons, change vector again and Increase speed. We should be able to outrun this with ease. It is something to worry about when we know where our next energon cube is coming from. Fleetwind, what are you picking up from this craft?//
