The blow does indeed glance off Kup's shoulder, leaving a scratch in the paint. And Kup is quick enough to trip and push the offending Dinobot around into his second attacker. Said attacker, however, dodges out of the way, taking advantage of a percieved opening in Kup's defenses.
The raptor that had been on the roof moves in for the kill, aiming for the Autobot veteran's vitals.

The vitals. Those would probably be things that Kup doesn't want impaled. He concentrates on that one. This means that one Dinobot's (the one who had just dodged the other Dinobot) attack hits home, biting into his left shoulder. Kup grimaces, but doesn't otherwise react to that - he's too focused on roof raptor's strike. He lets the attack intended to hit his vitals cut into his side instead, and as it does, he tries to clamp his right arm down onto it. Should he make the grab, he'll ignore damage to his arm caused by the sword and try to yank the attached Dinobot forward, into his other fist.

The Dinobot that Kup threw to the ground springs to his feet, snarling and whirling around to face the Autobot.
The second Dinobot bares his teeth in a predatory grin as his blade bites into Kup's shoulder.
The third is unprepared for such a bold move from his opponent. Kup grabs his blade, as well as his shoulder, and yanks him forward. He howls in pain as a faded green fist smashes his face in, both hands grapping Kup's wrist before they go limp.
. . .
Some time later, in the same sim room, this time configured to resemble a dojo, Dinobot and Kup square off, circling one another warily.
The three Dinobots eventually wore Kup down in their earlier bout. Three on one was never fair. The ambush served its purpose, however, and allowed the Maximal to get the measure of his student. Now, he's taught Kup a few unarmed fighting techniques, moves that rely on speed and precision.
He's about to put them to the test the only way he knows how. "Whenever you're ready," he snarls, beckoning with one hand in a 'come at me' gesture.
OOC: Kup posed with permission.

Teaching Kup to use moves that rely on speed isn't going to do the veteran much good. That's something he simply doesn't have. But the handy thing about teaching Kup those moves, anyway, is that he's also better prepared to counter them.
Which does him absolutely no good when he's supposed to be the aggressor.
"Gotcha," he says calmly, and continues circling for a while, watching his opponent carefully. He steps forward, the start of a charge... and continues the circle instead. Another step forward, this time he's going to go for it!
No, maybe not.
Before Dinobot has the chance to yell at him and just attack already, however, he charges forward. Even as he closes, knowing he's not nearly as agile as his opponent, he attempts a single feint with his left fist, trying to force an opening from his opponent, before instead opting for a kick towards the side.
Kup's not much for speed, but the old man knows a thing or two of bluffing.

Dinobot is a pretty crafty foe himself, but he's not terribly patient when it comes to warfare. He favors a direct frontal assault with overwhelming force.
He sidles out of the way of where Kup's first charge would have been, expression blank. The second time warrants a sidestep in the other direction, and a sneer that's usually reserved for Rattrap.
Ah, but Kup's actual attack is brilliantly executed. Dinobot will take the time to appreciate it later, when he isn't trying to counter it. He tries to catch Kup's swung fist in his open palm, moving his arm back in an attempt to keep the veteran's greater strength from buckling his joints. This leaves him open to the kick, which sweeps him off his feet.
The raptor catches himself on a hand, putting himself in a crouching position. He's down, but his guard isn't.

Oh, Kup is definitely a fan of direct assault and overwhelming force himself. But that's what he's been doing for the last fifteen or so million years. Not that dirty tricks are exactly new to him, either.
With Dinobot down, however, he goes for the direct assault standby, transforming and charging forward in an attempt to run Dinobot down.
What? No one said vehicle mode doesn't count for melee!

Dinobot has no time to roll out of the way. Kup is no Battlecharger, but he's close. The raptor hits the deck, trying to fall between Kup's wheel's rather than under them. Whether or not he gets all his limbs tucked in in time remains to be seen.
OOC: I am also good for those things.

A couple days later...
By now, Dinobot's decided to bring in a 'teacher's assistant' of sorts. Kup's been working on the moves and techniques that Dinobot has been training him in, but there comes a point where if one really wants to improve, one has to practice against different kinds of opponents. And, since Kup is usually a less agile fighter who relies on his strength and toughness as his main advantages, it makes sense to try to take away those advantages by bringing in a stronger, tougher opponent.
Of course, Kup's done a fair amount of wrangling of this particular opponent in his time, but that's usually with the aid of war stories.
The veteran turns to look at Dinobot, one brow-ridge lifted. "Grimlock? Seriously?" he asks.
OOC: Grimlock's presence approved by player.

"Yes, seriously," Dinobot snaps back. "You rely far too much on brute force in battle. Now you have an opponent who's better at it that you are. You'll adapt or you'll lose," he says, taking a step back.
It's not that Dinobot doesn't like brute force. He just likes to wield it like a scalpel. Besides, seeing Grimlock fight Kup is pretty much Dinobot's fanbot dream come true.

Grimlock cracks his knuckles somehow, despite being a robot, and steps toward Kup. "Yes, me Grimlock." He says nothing else, though grunts as he throws a heavy punch at the truckbot. Simple and straightforward as Grimlocks tend to be.

Well, what else is Kup here for, if not fulfilling fannish fantasies?
Kup is not an agile robot, though he's more agile than Grimlock... meaning this really will be a fair reversal of his normal fighting methods. The first attack is simple, direct, and broadcast. The elder has little trouble ducking beneath it, but he responds instinctively and automatically with a punch towards the 'gut'. Kup is strong enough that it might even hurt, but the veteran would have been better served by going after a limb rather than a strike that the Dinobot would so easily shake off.

If Dinobot was the kind of mechanism who peered over clipboards with horn-rimmed glasses while jotting down cryptic notes and muttering disapprovingly, he'd be doing that at Kup right now. Not because Kup is doing poorly, but just because that's his attitude toward teaching.
As it is, he just stands with his arms crossed over his chest, watching the old veteran square off with Grimlock. If only Terrorsaur was here, they could finally settle who could beat up whom.

The gut-punch lands with a loud 'clong', and Grimlock grunts. It left a decent dent, too. However, Kup should have indeed went for the limb, as Grimlock's bringing both hands up, then aims to slam down.
Kup would be wise to improve that greater-than-Grimlock agility right about now!

Kup attempts to back out of the way of the hands, but he isn't quite fast enough, and Grimlock's left hand catches him on his right shoulder, slamming him to the ground with a grunt. It's a testament to how tough the old bootleg is, however, that this doesn't seem to phase him. He twists on the ground, bringing his legs around to try to slam both of them up towards one of Grimlock's knees. "Take more'n that to slow me down," he growls.

Kup does use that agility, but not in the way expected. Grimlock's knee wobbles, and he falls on the opposite knee to take the pressure off. Grimlock growls back at Kup without words, swiping a hand at him to attempt and knock him away.
