OOC: Month 4, Week 1, Day 7. Open. Whirligig's presence with player permission.
Haywire is somewhat uncomfortable with the arrangement Blurr made, but it can't be helped. Carrying Whirligig a-piggyback provides the least drag on an Autobot not really built to be very wind-resistant and they need all the speed Blurr can muster.
Thankfully, his reflexes make this wild cross-country dash after a high-speed missile of doom smoother than it could be. He's sidestepped cars, tractors, and livestock more times than even he will bother to count.
"There it is there it is right there I see it just ahead there!" Blurr cheers, though the wind rips the sound away from his mouth. The missile is indeed just ahead, for a relative definition of distance. They're coming up on another city very quickly, but they should – assuming no interference or crazy delays – actually catch up the offending warhead quite soon. "Hang on tight!" is all the warning Whirligig gets before Blurr accelerates. He doesn't want to cause too much damage, but the missile can and will do worse than he. Perhaps he can apologise later for all the broken windows.

Whirligig clings to Blurr for all he's worth, because if he falls off now, slowing down is reeeally going to hurt. It's kind of amazing, and though no-one can see it with his head tucked down against Blurr, Whirligig is grinning like mad.
He tries to hear Blurr over the rush of air, but the fast-talking Autobot can be a bit hard to parse at the best of times. Not to say that this time isn't awesome, but it's not exactly Prime conditions for communication. He tries yelling back, "I don't know what you just sa-" And then they're going even faster. "Whooohooooooo!"
Marauding missile, here they come!

Blurr thinks Whirligig might be having fun. That could've been a woo-hoo just now.
I think you're right. Haywire answers, a grin in the words. He couldn't fault Whirligig that; riding along with Blurr was pretty awesome once he really got going. I just hope he remembers to hang on! They sort of need him to defuse that missile. Why, Blurr muses, anyone wanted to build an intercontinental missile capable of Mach 10 flight is beyond him. Why the Decepticons hijacked it is far easier to understand. Why they need to stop the thing needs no explanation.
Then he pulls ahead of the missile, checking it occasionally while he runs until Haywire takes over watching the sky for him. Then they're inside city limits, buildings starting low around them on the outskirts and sprouting taller by the nanosecond. Blurr tries to pick the clearest path he can, but the streets are crowded and there's only so much he can do. They don't directly follow the missile's path, either, sending him on dog-leg turns and detouring here and there to circumvent construction, buildings. He still maintains his lead. They can't afford him to lose it.
"Here we go!" The upcoming skyscraper will do nicely, though the Autobots might need to take some funds from the PR budget for a public repair job later. Blurr doesn't even think about doing it; he has enough speed to overcome gravity. Two bounding strides to change his orientation and then his wake shatters windows, leaving a glittering tail behind him. The missile's coming up in a blink, but in half a blink, Blurr gives one final push and they're airborne, on a beeline to intercept.
//Ready?// Blurr asks Whirligig, giving up on speaking as a lost cause with the roar of air and sound nearly drowning out even his thoughts.

//I was hatched ready!//
At least he thinks he's ready. He kind of feels like he's overclocking his processors just trying to keep up with what's happening.
Whirligig clings tighter to Blurr as the world spins around him, his gyroscopes struggling to keep up with Blurr's rapid movements and rotors tucked close against his back - he's in autogyro drag today, and aren't his Blackrock sponsors going to be disappointed that he didn't disarm a missile while wearing their vehicle? - for safekeeping.

Whirligig can ask Kup and Rodimus any time; trying too hard to keep up with Blurr is the quickest way to a pounding headache. It's really best to just ping the highlights.
//Hatched?!// Haywire is significantly more weirded out than Blurr, who is nevertheless also weirded out by that notion. Something to consider another time, because it's time to get the job done right now. Blurr reaches out carefully with both hands and they're all hitch-hiking at ten times the speed of sound. It actually feels like a slowdown to the speedster.

//Writhing and glistening!// Whirligig crows. It takes him a moment to realize they've actually made their target, and he gives a startled, //Oh hey, we're here!//
Carefully - but not too carefully, because time is of the essence here - Whirligig scoots his way up Blurr to reach the smooth face of the missile, the long fingers on both his hands and feet seeking out whatever cracks and crevices on Blurr they can cling to. //Should I be asking you out for a drink after this?// he jokes.

//Don't the drinks come before all the touchy-feely? I'm pretty sure the drinks are supposed to come before that,// Blurr quips back with a chortle. Whirligig tickles!
Now the speedster's just here to try and put some drag on the missile, ideally so this whole mess – weapon and daredevils – lands in that convenient lake he knows is some miles ahead yet and coming up fast. The landing will still hurt, but he'd rather land in water than on the ground. He can shake himself fast enough to do something about the water's surface, he thinks; not so much with rocks.
Little does he realise what a media spectacle this venture has become, or the people who are absolutely flabbergasted at the way the Autobots are playing fast and loose with the laws of physics.

//Do they?// Whirligig replies, feigning ignorance, as his left hand transforms into a small cutting tool and he slices carefully into the side of the missile. //They always tell me they need a drink after the fact!//
Cutting a square of metal free, Whirligig winces as the rushing air whips it away. That could hurt. Whoops.

//That's usually how it goes or so I'm told and I've been told that's the usual way by pretty reliable sources so that must be how it goes!// Not that Blurr's ever been propositioned for drinks and a good time afterwards. He chatters too much for most prospective dates to tolerate. He didn't quite get to go out for coffee with Patterwing, and it isn't as though it would've gone any further than that.
But oh, the conversations they could have had.

//I'll take your word for it, Speedstick!// Whirligig says, and if he wasn't busy disarming a bomb hurtling through the air at several times the speed of sound, he'd wink at Blurr. He's never actually been one for flings, whether drinks are involved or not, but he's still pretty confident that he'd drive any hypothetical partner to drink. He certainly had friends that expressed that sentiment.
No time for introspection, though! He does have a date with a high explosive that he doesn't want to blow up in his face. Working quickly to separate the explodey parts from the rest of the missile, he narrates his progress roughly to the tune of 'Dry Bones'.
Maybe he'll take the bomb out for a drink after.

//Speedstick,// Haywire snickers. Blurr chuckles and continues to hang on while Whirligig works.

//Got it!// Whirligig says, yanking out the missile's explosives. He could probably have just disconnected things so the missile wouldn't explode on impact, but he's kind of hoping he can keep the explosives after this. Finder's keepers and all.
//What we planning on doing with the rest of it?//

Blurr cranes his neck, trying to grin at Whirligig around the side of the missile.
//There's a lake coming up very soon and we should be able to dump it in the lake but to dump it in the lake we need to kill the thrust or it'll go right past the lake and if we miss the lake then we have to try landing it on the ground and the lake would be easier.//

//Yeeeeah, let's take this baby for a swim!// Whirligig crows, jamming an arm deeper into the missile. If he rips out this the rocket should stop firing... //Just say when!//

//When? Now!// Blurr cries. //Now now now! I can see it and if I can see it we're getting really close then soon we'll be too close and too close will be too far after too long!// And while Whirligig does his thing, Blurr tries wrenching the fins to turn the missile downward.
