M7W4D7, the Detroit opera, semi-private
"Sadly Sings Destiny" plays softly in the background in the foyer as Sharon tries to see Rodney out of the house. She fusses over his suit, checking to see that he has his cumberbund on properly. Sharon says lowly, "Will... she be all right with this? Normally, it would be none of my business, but you are... as you are, and thus, you must be an example to others."
In other words, polyamory is fine as long as everyone is fine with it, but Sharon is not okay with Rodney cheating on someone because he is a Prime.
No, Sharon is not entirely sure what is going here. That is why she asks questions!

"This outfit has way too many pieces," complains the person whose natural state is a naked robot as Sharon fusses over his suit. At her question, he looks startled, then shakes his head.
"We agreed to an open relationship," he assures. "And besides, this is just..." he waves a hand absently, "it's just cover so that we can keep regular contact in a way that won't get the media too suspicious." Then he rolls his eyes. "Except tonight. Tonight's punishment."

"Oh, good," Sharon says, and she seems relieved and willing to accept that answer. "Now, don't forget the corsage for your young man," she tries to hand him said corsage and then frowns, "- oh, punishment? Really? If I was your age, I would have loved to go to the opera with someone. It's different back home, of course. What sort of automobile does he drive or does he have a chauffeur?"

Addison Payne often has a driver, of course, though tonight Addison felt like driving himself. Chauffeurs are paid to not listen, but sometimes, it's just better to remove the extra ears from the equation. He pulls up in a deep blue Bentley Continental GT V8. As he gets out of the vehicle, Addison quirks a brow at the tableau framed in the door way of Rodney's new home.
He walks up to the door in time to hear Sharon's comments about enjoying opera. Addison tries to slide his arm around Rodney and give him a peck on the cheek, "Hello love. Looking forward to tonight? I assure you, it won't be nearly so torturous as you think."
Addison reaches a hand out to Sharon, and is she takes it, will attempt to raise it to his lips and kiss the back of it. "Addison Payne," he says by way of introduction, "It's a pleasure to meet you Ms. Zaman. I'm afraid your love of the art which is opera has not rubbed off on your ward." Addison's smile widens slightly, "I hope to change his opinion, but I doubt that is possible."

"Bentley, and he drives sometimes," Rodney answers just as Addison is entering. He accepts the corsage, looking down at the plant in his hand with some bemusement.
At Addison's hope of changing his opinion, he shrugs. "Sorry. That's just not the kind of Earth music I'm into," he observes. Then he holds the corsage up to Addison. "This is for you."

Rodney is Sharon's ward? This makes her Batman and him Robin. Sharon supposes she can live with that. Kate might argue, though. So, is Addison going to need to throw up when he realises he just kissed Emirate Xaaron's hand?
She teases Rodney good-naturedly, "It's odd, given how much operatic metal you listen to." She nods to Addison, playing along, "Nice to meet you, too."
For a moment, Sharon wants to mess with him and say, 'Didn't he tell you? I'm his sober companion. He has a morphine addiction,' but she decides against it.

Addison quirks a brow as Rodney specifies "Earth" music in front of Sharon. The model looks at Rodney thoughtfully, then back at the older woman next to him. He reaches for the corsage in Rodney's hands with a rather bemused expression, then stops.
"Ah, I believe the custom is that you pin that on me yourself, love," Addison says, presenting his left shoulder to Rodney. As he does so, Addison smirks and speaks up again.
"So, Ms. Zaman, have you a list of awkward questions you wish to ask me before I take Rodney away for the evening, or do we get to skip that part of the date?"

"Erm, okay," Rodney answers with a shrug. Really, he never watched the kind of Earth movies that would have taught him that. He reaches over to pin the corsage in place, glancing at Sharon as he does. "And the metal component's pretty important there."
He finishes pinning the corsage. It's crooked.
"And I think she already got the awkward question out of the way with me."

Ms. Zaman sighs slightly over the crooked corsage, but she doesn't say anything.
"No, not really," Ms. Zaman says, shaking her head, "Just don't catch anything incurable, Rodney." She smiles widely. Was that a joke? "Enjoy yourselves, you two."

Addison dips his head to look at the crooked corsage , cuts his eyes up toward Rodney, then shakes his head. "You know, I think a cinema night is in order." He reaches up and re-pins the corsage so that it is straight.
The interesting subtext Addison sees in the conversation between Rodney and Sharon cause the model to once more give the pair a considering look.
"I assure you, Ms. Zaman, I've a clean bill of health," Addison retorts lightly as he offers Rodney his arm, "Shall we love?"
If Rodney is amiable, Addison will lead him to the car, and of course open the door for him to enter.

Rodney casts a grin back at Sharon. "See ya, Sharon!"
Truthfully, Rodney would rather have opened the door for Addison instead, but this does kind of make more sense, what with Addison driving. And really, when it comes down to it, Rodney would rather be the car.
He climbs in and buckles his seat belt like a good boy, even if he's not happy with having to wear it. "So how come you haven't asked why I moved in with her yet?"

Ms. Zaman waves and steps back to the door.
OOC: Out of thread due to not being going to the opera.

Addison settles into the car and buckles his seat belt. As he starts the car, he shrugs and says, "I assume you have your reasons, and she is someone of import that I probably don't need to know about. Your life is your own, after all."
There's an edge to Addison's tone that usually isn't there when he talks to Rodney. The model doesn't seem his usual flirtatious self, now that he's no longer performing for an audience.
He pulls off from the curb, and when they pull up to a stop, Addison reaches into his jacket pocket, pulls out a flat, oblong object and tries to hand it to Rodney. It contains a checkbook and debit card in Rodney's name. The listed starting balance is quite substantial.

Rodney frowns at the tone of voice. "Something wrong?" he asks. He accepts the checkbook and card and examines it, one eyebrow lifted. He looks back up at Addison.
"What's this about?"

Addison doesn't answer the first inquiry, but as they continue down the road he does answer the second.
"It has recently been brought to my attention that if I am going to be otherwise useless, the money I have at my disposal could help some of our less-fortunate changed. Or help you find them."
"It's a carte blanche account. You can use it how you see fit. I have automatic transfers set up if the account gets below a certain level, so you need not worry about over-extending it."
