Mirage laughs. He's pleased, so very pleased, with the entire evening, even with its bumps, and to have it end with attaining an objective...Mirage couldn't ask for more.
Well, not much more.
He laughs again, and the paper and tickets drop into subspace as he reaches one hand up to try and curl around the back of Rodimus's head. He tries to rest his other hand on Rodimus's chest just over the Prime's Autobrand. Both are intimate gestures, perhaps too intimate, but success makes the spy bold.
Mirage smiles up at Rodimus, "No, not tonight. I'm in no mood to share you, even tacitly. Another night, after some more research. And while I'll not turn away the company should you wish to come with, you needn't feel obligated."
His expression grows coy, "Now would be the perfect time for a proper kiss goodnight, if you'll allow me- and yourself- the indulgence."

Rodimus stiffens as Mirge grows a little too intimate, and moves back instinctively, to try to give himself room.
He looks down at Mirage at the offer, a faint, sad smile playing at the edges of his lips. the slightly haunted look that can sometimes be seen in his optics very much present for the moment. He sighs.
"I wish you hadn't asked that, Mirage," he says softly.

A refusal of his half-teasing suggestion Mirage had expected, and his hands slip easily away from Rodimus's plating as the Prime moves back. That look though, the resurfacing of that pain Mirage has seen too many times tonight was not expected, especially not given how well things seemed to be between them now.
And so the haunted look on Rodimus's face is mirrored for a few seconds by a look of hurt on Mirage's. Only for a few seconds, though, before Mirage's expression returns to careful neutrality.
First instinct is to apologize, but pride is coming into play now. Mirage has apologized too many times tonight, and for things which apology should not be needed. If a simple offer of a kiss can make Rodimus look on him like that....
"Right," he says, just as softly, "Forget I said anything at all, and maybe one day you'll deign to tell me why the idea of intimacy with me in particular seems to frighten you more than a gun pointed at your head."
Mirage tries to move past Rodimus then, heading toward the exit.

"I hope so," Rodimus says to Mirage as the other passes him, voice soft and saddened. "I really do hope so."
"And... I'm sorry."
He pauses a moment in order to let Mirage have his space - it's the least he can do after what's happened. Then he follows Mirage out.
