The wee hours of the morning, day 9. Follows Sound of the Underground. Private thread.
It's raining.
The old meat packing plant mentioned in Jill's research looks completely run down and abandoned. Most all the doors and windows are boarded up, except for the huge, heavy, metal loading bay doors. These are rusted over and look as if they haven't been opened in years. The building is dark, though there are still power lines connected to it, and if anyone checks, they'd find someone was still paying the utilities.
The rain is hot, acidic, and just seems to intensify the stench of blood and death that lingers around the place. The homeless, so prevalent in the districts leading up to this place, are nowhere to be seen. If any were asked about the packing plant, they will stiffen and slink away, refusing to say anything other than a warning to stay away.

Kup transforms a few blocks down to get into his clothes (ugh. Clothes) and creeps through the acid rain towards the meat packing planet. If there were many in this area (not that there are), they might be interesting to note the weapon he carries in his right hand - not his usual trusty acid laser musket, but Singe's flamethrower mode.
He stops in an alley across the street and crouches down to study the place, expression twisted into a scowl. Then, realizing that the answers aren't going to come to him if he just keeps sitting there, he straightens. In a moment, he'll be heading to the place, but he hasn't started moving yet...

Spinister just spent entirely too much time talking. This fact possible bothers him worse than the fact that he is currently dying of a drug addiction. He needs to get back to business as usual.
His top speed lets him make up the ground he lost when he was busy dropping off K'ire, an soon enough, he's directly above an behind Kup. He transforms and drops down, invisible, undetectable, landing just behind Kup.
Spinister looks around quickly, noting that Kup has chosen a reasonable hiding spot in the alley. Then, he crouches down behind Kup, decloaks, and reaches out to tap Kup on the shoulder closer to the alley wall, lightly, lightly with those long strangler's fingers.

Kup jumps. Not high, but then, Kup isn't the skittish type. But he jumps slightly and spins towards Spinister, gun in his hand instinctively raised.
When he sees who it is his optics narrow and his lips pull back into a scowl.
"What in the name of mini-microchips do you think you're pulling? Do you want to have a hole melted through your midsection by your own damned flamethrower?" he hisses in an angry whisper.
OOC: Skipping Scenemod by request until we go back to actually getting inside the plant.

Spinister looks insufferably pleased, like someone caught looking at a naughty magazine who is nevertheless unashamed and unrepentant. Having a hole melted through him is worth it to say that he made Kup, unflappable veteran of a billion battles, jump, ever so slightly. Spinister shrugs nonchalantly and holds up his hands. What can you do?
Hairsplitter notes, "Getting the layout of this place from the city records office would be a good idea, but it would take time, and we'd be noticed."
He also notes that Kup apparently doesn't want to leave his own ballistics evidence or maybe is just in the mood for something even more brutal than acid musket shot.

Perhaps a desire for brutality factors into it (although really, acid shot is pretty vicious), but really, Singe is a weapon that Kup can't subspace, and he figures if the guy's going to be hanging around, he might as well make himself useful.
"Well, getting noticed wouldn't be a good idea," Kup grumbles, turning back towards the warehouse. "So we do this the old fashioned way - blindly. Now, you're the sneaky sort - sneakier than I am at any rate. Get over there for a quick recon - nothing that'll take too long, I just want a quick idea which direction to approach the place from."
Yup. Kup's just ordering Spinister around again. He's also, perhaps weirdly, trusting Spinister not to give him directions that'll lead him right into a trap. Perhaps he's confident of his ability to bulldoze his way out of it if that does happen.

Spinister still looks darkly amused, and he cuts an elegant Decepticon bow to Kup, looking right at him. He straightens, lightly leaps atop the dumpster in the alley - without rattling its contents, despite the hot, slippery acid raid. Another leap, and he's pulling himself into the roof, no shards of debris to indicate his passing. Once on the roof, he gets down, and someone on street level wouldn't be able to see him. he makes use of whatever cover there is on the roof, such that someone higher up would also have trouble tracking him. From that roof, he tries to get a decent view from a height of the complex, trying to decide who he wants to approach his recon. If there's enough cover, Spinister would just as well like to go completely visible and trust to his stealth training to keep him unseen.
Oh please, if Spinister couldn't manage to be sneakier than an obsolete truck, it'd be time to turn in his sniper rifle and take up metallikato.

There's enough cover, if Spinster really wants to go au naturale, but there are also security cameras, belonging to both the packing plant and the surrounding warehouses. The ones on the warehouses are your typical low-budget cameras. The ones on the packing plant, however, are small, discreet, and in many cases disguised as some or another roofing or wall element, very high end electronics.
Closer inspection of the packing plant will net...not much, from an outside view. The high up vents, though, look in much better repair than the rest of the building, and the wood boarding up certain windows and doors look more weathered than others, parts of the wood worn almost shiny.
The rusted-over loading dock doors appear to swing outward, the hinges visible from the outside. The hinges themselves look as if they haven't moved in years- but the pins inside the hinges are well-oiled, bright shiny metal.
Somewhere in the distance, a large building clock chimes five times.

At the recognizably Decepticon salute bow, and all it implies, Kup's scowl deepens into a snarl and his fists clench, including the one that holds Singe. The strength behind it doesn't get damaging, but it might be briefly uncomfortable for the Nebulan.
He manages to force his hands to relax and goes back to watching that packing plant, waiting for the report from the Mayhem.

Ow, that hurts! Quit it, Kup! thinks Singe.
Spinister, much put-upon, does grudgingly cloak, because he has to be fast about this. He still does use all the cover available to him and tries to avoid line of sight on any cameras he sees.
These are good cameras. For a meat packing plant, this place is downright fishy. Rusted hinges with well-oiled pins. Variable weathering on the wood, and those vents... bear further investigation.
Spinister transforms and hovers up to get a better look at them and a look at the roof in general.
Singe narrates quietly to Kup, almost inaudibly, what Spinister is seeing, leaving out opinions, in Tyrestian.

There's nothing much to see when Spinister gets closer to the vents. Nothing at all which a normal person would see, in fact. Spinister though, given his sensors in helicopter mode, can probably make out the criss-cross laser trips running all the way around the upper half of the building. But just the upper half; they stop at the second story mark. There are there layers of trips.
The roof is covered in the same criss-cross trips, and layered as well. There is also evidence of the roof having been used as a landing pad at some point fairly recently. There's one door which probably leads to a stairwell.
The rain is getting harder.
There's a shadow behind Kup, in the alley behind him, but then the alley is full of shadows. This shadow just seems more...solid than the others.
It's also moved twice in the past five minutes, and soundlessly.

Kup doesn't answer Singe's thoughts because he can't hear them. Kup is, after all, not the one binary bonded to Nebulan. Even when he's bonded to a Nebulan, which he isn't, it's not this one.
He listens to the reports, scowl turning thoughtful but remaining firmly in place. Then he gets an... itch, of sorts, between the shoulder blades. Nothing distinct, just a feeling that's something off... something's wrong. Of course, even he realizes that he can tend towards the paranoid sometimes. That's practically a job requirement for anyone who works in Security, even if they don't take it to Red Alert levels of epicness.
The veteran glances around the alley and sees nothing but shadows. His frown, amazingly, manages to deepen and he shrugs, turning back to watch the meat packing plant once more.

Singe has more stuff to make Kup scowl. Tripwires galore! Possible use of roof as helicopter pad. Stairwell?
Spinister choppers back to the alley, landing on the roof using the same cover as before and returning to being visible and a robot before leaping down lightly behind Kup, completely unaware that vashtan nerada are waiting to skeletonise all of them.
Maybe not.

There is the faintest of rustling, like the sound of several rats skittering along the ground, or of locusts.
The shadows move.
Kup and Spinister are enveloped in a darkness darker than shadow- and considerably more solid.
Perhaps there are tiny teeth in the darkness, and perhaps they taste, just a little, the odd metal flesh.
Just a little.

Kup is engulfed in darkness! A solid darkness with teeth! Instinctively, he pulls the trigger of the weapon in his hand before he jerks backs arms and elbows to try to knock whatever is on him off of him.
"Whoever the HELL you are, show yourself, now, or I'm gonna teach you new units for measuring pain from about a hundred different solar systems, got it?!"
